I havent seen any mention of this; since copyright is limited by time, media companies will increasingly be competing with their former selves. Works from the 60s are starting to enter public domain, and as time passes it will add up to more media than anyone can possibly consume in a lifetime.
"Crew members aboard the ISS can request specific films and TV shows to be uploaded to a central file server, which they can then watch on any of the Station's laptops."
I put this on a 15 yo toshiba satellite pro (p75, 40MB ram, 750MB hd), works fine. Getting wireless from a pcmcia card took a little work. The CD rom, which is a custom toshiba thing, worked fine which was pretty impressive.
Ofcourse once the itch to get everything running was satisfied, it just sits on a shelf now..:)
While I dont think theres some grand plan to kill open source, I see absolutely no reason to trust MS at all. Even if Ballmer swears on a stack of dried lawyers, that means nothing tomorrow if someone else gets the job.
The MS engineers probably mean well, but have no say in the end.
And ofcourse theres all the crap theyve pulled in the past, should this just be forgiven?
Commercial software was mostly in machine code, basic was too slow and ate too much memory. Basic was great for beginners and for trying out the programs listed in magazines etc. And yes, it was also the shell, needed for loading from tapes and discs.
For an emulator tho you can populate the memory before starting, so you dont really need the basic.
If theres no basic ROM it will break some programs that used routines from there to save space tho.
I think what you see is simply hitting the max number of inflight bullets? Software limited yes but probably based on what the hardware can handle. If the game uses hardware sprites (quite possible) it may be limited by the total number of sprites on screen.
So when you hit this max number you wont be able to fire any "new" bullets until an old one hits something or goes offscreen.
true, it is very action oriented tho and you can attack/defend control points nearly from the start. Also its likely the last chance to see this, in my opinion, great game.
AC vs. DC distribution is a big topic, main obstacle to having 1 central PSU in the home is the low voltage used by most electronics (3-12V). Feeding a 400W pc at say 10V means it pulls 40A which means heavy wiring (roughly same as the feeder to your house).
AC/DC isnt all that lossy and doesnt have to be messy. DC/DC on the other hand is very lossy.
What I would like to see tho is standard, interchangeable PSUs without fkin fans.
Whatd be nice is if part of the fine goes to developing free software, then it might sting abit. Set up a fund that deals out bounties on development goals.
Very well put, I have a lot of respect for Stallman, compared to him these other names are just gnomes.
Agreed, Ive put ubuntu on a kids video/surf laptop and my parents surf/email/photos machine.
No problems and no worries.
Theres only one way theyre gonna pull this off, get Mr. T to rap about copyright.
phone support: "is it plugged in?"
"yes"
"well theres your problem"

they should call it NSFW (Not Safe For Whales)
Imagine if the internet preceded music publishing, how would the discussion look? I doubt there would be any.
If I go to my government saying "hi I have a business plan but I need you to pass these laws for it to work" it would likely not go far.
Many tears and much energy would be saved if someone with weight would tell old media "you are not touching the internet".

My barber and butcher is the same person, he just flips the apron. I am too nervous there to ask any questions :(
Malignant Media Mogul is a pretty kick-ass title tho. As a group they go by M&M&Ms.
you're all so negative, I say grats to microsoft for going that extra mile and almost breaking the 50% barrier for a product.
hell hath no fury like a nerd scorned
sudo kill -human -all
Maybe its measuring the temperature of a human on earth?
Driver is fine (finally).

Wolfgang Petersen is reportedly preparing to make "Das Reboot", a (very) short sequel.
do sharks enjoy researchers?
