They also stuck their little 'this lawn was mantained by green lawn watch for poison' signs in my lawn for months. I mean sometimes more than once a week... I bought their service once 2years ago (lawn-aeration). In the end i really wish i had a "Mark as Telemarketing" button but my current system of never answering the phone seems to be working. I gave up last week when i answered the phone and the msg started 'thank you for waiting a sales rep will be with you shortly to...' ON FUCKING HOLD. I also get a lot where the line just goes dead and i get a 2minute long BEEEEEEEP on my answering machine.
If you think AVG is bad install NortonAV. You I've never EVER seen a computer with worse virus problems then the resource hogging that AV does. I've cleaned 500+ infected machines and NOT a single one was as screwed up as just installing norton. If you use FF you don't get popups from the virus anyways. The only real problem is if the pc is added to a botnet. I'd only recomend norton to the worst 1 of 30 users. I mean they'd have to be dling kiddie porn labeled as pron.jpg.exe through IE 1.0 while uninstalling windows patches and opening every attatchment they find while shitting on hackers. (Having worked tech support yes i do believe 1 in 30 people are that stupid)
I have gotten one item of spam in the 3...4? years i've had gmail and no false positives. I have some bacn because i'm too lazy to unsubscribe. Now my phone on the other hand... i get about 30calls a day for bs i dont want.
Average mother's day spending is 105$ average fathers day spending is 80$. Men spend more on food then women. While women spend more on clothes, shoes, health and hygene. These are the only stats i could find. As well in a typical 1950s american family the mother does all the shopping. So while women on avg might make a little less than men they spend alot more.
Honestly thats annoying Canadians are actually getting a kinda bad rep now from so many people doing that. I was flying with united airlines to portugal and when we got off they gave us all american pins, too my knowledge i was the only canadian on board. Kind of pisses me off that my culture being shit on is standard with flights to foreign lands.

Devs share alot in common with/. ers. We hate being closed in HATE IT. We like options. With a mac base you fuck yourself for cross-platform options. You fuck yourself for installed base. You fuck yourself on freedom MANYMANY times over. You fuck yourself on dev tools, libraries and compilers of all sorts. And you support an OS that maintains an iron grip over the computer and what goes on it. Why don't i just shoot myself in the foot some more?
On a side note how are there so many people here that hate closed anything (People were arguing about firefox being free because it has a logo today) and hate DRM and so many that love apple? Kinda retarded...

Polio had a MUCH lower transmission rate was much MUCH slower to mutate or pass between people. The vaccine killed all varieties of polio not 60%. Polio was also stalled by stopping drinking water with shit in it. People with polio didn't go to work to spread it. Yes country wide vaccinations may severely stall one strain of the flu but that will just give other strains a chance to spread. Oh and i'm not doing it just to be different I had no idea there were mandatory vaccinations in the US...there aren't in most countries.
And vaccinating the healthy just mutates the virus to a different strain faster ensuring that the old/sick will die since the shots against it are now useless.
It isn't that usenet has changed its the people. Back in the early 90s and before pretty much only nerds were online. So there were many insightful posts on codeing and all kinds of nerd related stuff. Signal to noise ratio was good. Now insightful nerds make up about 5% of the online population and have a ratio about equaling the real world. The real world voted in bush twice and believes it was created by an invisible man in the sky. Really back when we had control of the internet instead of making it usable and fast we should have been designing a system to keep the internet to ourselves, damn nerd tendancy to improve things. Its depressing to me that when we make a feasible ai it'll be owned by some rich oil selling hick be controlled by marketing folks and dissed worldwide for nerds playing god creating abominations. You know what I hope the mafiaa and special interests fucking breaks the internet. That way only nerds could use it properly ignoring how slow it may become..... Man I really went off on an unrelated rant...
It would be part of the school system NOT slavery. When i attend highschool it is compulsory to take English and Math. He is simply adding community service. That said I think the numbers are way too big we don't have the infrastructure for that at all. 50hrs a year in highschool, drop the others is fine... But its certainly not slavery.
