The Mozilla team is committed to user control over their browsers: we are proud to announce in Firefox 9 the ability to change version numbers on the fly.
Firefox 9 will be released this Friday for both of you not playing Skyrim on that day.
Why not put the libs into/lib where they belong and boot all libraries out of/usr? While we are at it, all the lib64 stuff could easily have a subdirectory (i.e./lib/lib64).
While we are at it, can we get rid of the following TLD's?/media:/mnt made sense/misc: what is this even supposed to be used for?/net: not even part of the official standard./srv: officially there still is no consensus on how its meant to be used, plus its main uses (httpd, databases) were fine in/var/selinux (Im sure you can find a place in/usr for some of it, most of it looks like it belongs in/etc anyway)
Sorry to sound "get off my lawn"ish but it all comes across as unnessecary polution to me and we really did get along fine before all these.
I do find it odd that the US is saying this decision regarding Palestine was "at odds with the international community" when every day it becomes more obvious the US is finding itself at odds with the international community on this issue.
If I recall only 14 nations opposed, over 100 approved and a few dozon abstained.
The "in writing" part is important. 9/10 a CIO doesn't know anything and thinks his people are on the same level as the kernel writers themselves and has expertise on every part of the OS that hundreds guys employed at Red Hat get paid much more than you do to specialise in one component.
An IT Manager will almost never push for CentOS on a production system, a CIO however will as he is not a tech guy that understands how things work: he's a politician interesting in cutting costs.
However, if you are a big Oracle shop your CIO may want to switch to Oracle Unbreakable Linux as they already are giving it away for free (with support) to their bigger customers.
I think the form facter was nailed with the Xperia Play, possibly a bigger screen.
What Sony should do is take the Xperia Play concept, put in the dual core processor (like modern Android phones like the Galaxy SII, HTC Sensation, Motorola Atrix, etc) and I think it could work.
On the other hand I dont own the Xperia Play due to lack of content, so I think content does matter.
Considering Android is so far out in market penetration compared to Windows Phone this is sounding like sour grapes from Ballmer.
Don't get me wrong, the interface on Windows Phone 7 isn't half bad (could do with some cool skins), Phone 7 with HTC Sense looks amazing and the interface is simple to use.
However the marketplace still doesn't have a diverse range of apps and games that the App Store and Android Marketplace have. Impart from that iOS5, Windows Phone 7 and Android are all pretty much on equel footing. They all preform the same functions, they are very easy to use and except the iPhone: modern releases have dual core phones.
Microsoft right now is paying the price for having a really bad product. Windows Mobile had a cumborsome interface, too reliant on a pen & too office/corporate focused for mainstream adoption not to mention I found it to be an unreliable, horribly designed product.
The whole "Windows on Phones" as a brand has been tarnished in the past. Its a matter of advertising.
Still with that being said, I stand by what I said: he's just coming off as a sore loser. Especially when the whole "cheap" argument goes out the window when you look at what has actually been selling (Samsung Galaxy S & SII, HTC Desire, Motorola Droid, etc).
Which is why he said he wasn't sure if parent was trolling or ignorant. If parent was serious in his views on the dock, then he would consider parent 'ignorant'.
How is that any different from all previous iPhones, Android phones, desktops, etc?
Are not all upgrades incremental? Otherwise it would be a new product.
Windows 95: Bad
Windows NT4: Good
Windows 98: Good
Windows 2000 Professional: Very Good (prehaps their best desktop OS ever)
Windows Me: Bad
Windows XP: Bad
Windows Vista: Bad
Windows 7: Good
Windows 8: Bad
The heading alone suggested they were being anticompetitive until you read the mandate is not so much for not filing patents for their work: but mandating they open source their work. Its essensially not Intel being anticompetitive but Intel preventing their funding being used for anticompetitive purposes.
I think Aaron Barr deserved a nomination, Sony deserved one winning nominaiton for everything mentioned above and possibly a Lifetime Achievement award down the track.
Not all regions, I haven't been able to change my email address OR password on my PSN account. Considering I want to close down the email address, and would like to change the password (as I like to change all my passwords peridocically) I am still not happy with Sony.
Didnt someone attempt to sue Linus Torvalds, Stallman, the FSF and others years ago claiming Linux to be anticompetative? Saying he was selling his small time OS and sales went down due to people choosing Linux instead?
The only model that uses iOS is the iPod Touch which is an iPhone without the phone functions. The OS that runs the other iPod models is an embedded OS that despite may have some design concepts in common with iOS, it is not iOS.

Tell that to Steve Jobs...zing!
Oh wait, it hasn't been 22.3 years yet? Nevermind.

Get it in writing that he doesn't want 3rd party support for the Operating System despite your insistance.
That way if something goes wrong, you have it in writing the CIO took a risk by cutting corners and he is responsible for a fix taking some time.

12 condoms? That's a life time supply!
For a regular married man, yes. This is Slashdot.
Doesn't really make sense:
Windows 95: Bad

Windows Me: Bad

I always heard Vista was bad but that bad?
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people - Mr Garrison
Didnt South Park teach you anything?
Don't give them ideas, there is already too much interspecies erotica on the web as it is!
Im Australian = you fail
The High Court usually only hears cases that people argue goes against the Consitution and doesn't hear appeal cases too much.

Then the judge would have to be removed from the bench for conflict of interest.

I'm just waiting for someone to port Linux to it.
Priceless
Most iPods dont use iOS.
