You are arguing from authority. Why is destroying it an insignificant matter? We measure potential energy. Why does the potential humanity of a cell not matter?

Why would there be a limited amount of "human life?" A fertilized egg is capable, if free of interference, of producing at least one human being. That is why an abortion is considered murder. To quibble about the amount of cells needed to be considered a person is ridiculous. Is it less of a murder if I kill a child? He/she has less cells that an adult. That should make it less wrong, right?

These aren't people that know what a good movie is.

I don't get this sentiment. If the Internet has shown us anything, it is the fans are the most critical audience. If the movie had been bad, there would have been a riot.

Of course, the article could have exaggerated or outright lied.

What a lovely black/white viewpoint. He simply said that it is a bad idea to match a superior force against an inferior force and that we spend a lot of money to make sure that we are the superior force. Should we be faulted for wanting our people to survive?

You are confusing Christian with your personal beliefs. Christianity is a group of religions that profess to follow the teachings of Jesus. Even a cursory glance at the various flavors would show that Jesus, apparently, left a lot to interpretation. Hitler didn't adhere to your brand of Jesus, that didn't make him non-Christian. A lot of people do terrible things and are able to rationalize it with their belief system, whatever that system is.

Also, I dislike your swipe at Catholic priests. Shame on you for going for low hanging fruit.
