How does that protect you from patent trolls who force you to stop sales of your handset until the patent dispute is resolved with MS? Never underestimate the deviousness of patent trolls to cause maximum pain and suffering for their own profit.
Come on, don't be naive. What do think happens when there is a rogue bank employee, or IRS employee, or healthcare employee. Are you going to stop using all these services? Your data is out there just hope that you're not the unlucky person targeted.
Do we even know what type of integration was proposed? I can see a lot of benefit for Facebook to receive additional traffic from iTunes users. I imagine that they wanted a cut from iTunes sales that Apple was not willing to give.
I always see this line of thought come from slashdoters, "why do companies have to keep growing, why can't they just keep doing what they're doing now?" Companies are not individuals they are long-lived entities that exist beyond the lifespan of any one individual. If I were to make the same analogy and say that the human race has achieved a lot already why bother trying to improve, would you agree with this comment? Even as individuals, shouldn't we always strive to be better?
Can't play your archaic movie format? Why not use VLC? Why eschew features such as hardware acceleration and support for modern codecs? Backwards compatibility for out-dated formats is bloat as well.
If you end up buying it, don't get disappointed by the unsuitable input precision for this task. Just cherish new ways of doing it - you know, all Apple products and users are creatively... special. In the way special Olympics are special...
English isn't the only language that people use...
Maybe not useful for many, but finally I can have handwritten input via the Magic Trackpad. I was reluctant to buy a Macbook just to make use of this feature.
Most of the responses so far have equated multiplayer with death-match style gameplay. What people seem to be neglecting is coop campaign style multiplayer. I don't much care for death-match with random online players, but instead it's fun to get together with friends to play through story mode. This is what I would like to see more of in upcoming games.
Blu-Ray is dead? Sorry, but I didn't get that memo. Let me know when it's feasible for me to store my entire library of 1080p movies on my HDD. Also let me know when my ISP will let me stream 30+GB daily just to watch a movie or two...
But you have to admit that it wasn't very smart to showcase standards compliance by restricting the demo to Safari. A better way to do it would be to use feature detection instead.
So like you said, regardless they lose, so why not just keep quiet? You've already established that they stand less of a chance of being litigated by a small developer. If it makes you feel any better, from one developer to another, I feel for you. Being bullied out by big corporations would be more than frustrating.
If you're looking for an apology, might I suggest you try to email Jobs directly; the MyFrame developer got one.
Communication to the small developer is a lose-lose situation. If they're not careful about how they officially communicate the rejection then they are open to litigation from the small developer as well. So again they're going down the path of least resistance by not saying anything. I'm sure if you decide to litigate they'll discuss the reasons very thoroughly via a lawyer.
The technological leap is the battery life. Monochrome displays were a workaround to increase battery life. The iPad gets 10 real hours of battery life, which is enough for a days worth of use.
Maybe one day the workers in China will get together and form a national union to ensure workers' rights. Maybe through their collective efforts they could make a workers' paradise.
And watch all the manufacturing jobs leave the country to the next country willing to exploit their citizens. Isn't that what globalization is all about?
I always like when staff show some initiative in looking for solutions to problems themselves instead of waiting to be told what to do. Also don't be afraid to speak up when you come up with better solutions than the ones currently known to the team. There is always room for improvement.
Also if they let flash on the platform that means flash/flex apps would work on the the Android phones and the iPhone equally. They don't want that competition either they want developers locked in to their app ecosystem and make it difficult and or expensive for them to develop cross platform mobile titles. It's all bout control money and lock in. It's good business but it's anti competitive, predatory, and anti consumer.
So Apple prefers HTML5 over Flash. Nothing is stopping the rush to move online games over to HTML5 instead. HTML5 is not locked into Apple, it's open and will work on Android phones equally. So what's your point?
By that logic why would freeloaders using google care to click on ads either? It all depends on if Apple can target their ads effectively like google does. People are naturally resistant to paying for something if they can get for free. But that doesn't equate to those same people never willing to part with their cash especially when they've just bought an expensive Apple gadget.

They didn't sell-out immediately because people don't really know what to do with an iPad. Unlike iPhone and iPod which have previously well-defined markets, the iPad is venturing into a relatively new niche. Apple's biggest problem will be "educating" the consumer about how to use the iPad and finding the killer app for the device.
Why would the Chinese government take the chance to allow information to roam free just to make Google lose a bit of revenue? Whereas the control over information is price-less to them.
Maybe the reason why you can tether those phones is because none of them are 3G. You cannot download any significant amount of data using those phones so why would the carrier care to prevent you from tethering. A better comparison would be to compare tethering on Droid vs iPhone. And from what I can see neither can tether at the moment. I don't see Motorola sticking up for your "right" to tether...

Trust me there's no point in trying to rationally explain the advantages to someone who doesn't care to listen.

No, how to win customers is give them a free case with every purchase before September. I think Steve understands customers quite well.
What application is it that you're desperate to use that has been barred from the app store? I'm just curious.
Google Voice?

And HTML5 ads don't compete with iAd?
Similarly, consumers will also not champion human rights when they have to pay more for their electronic toys.
