if you're going to continue complaining, please at least stop selectively reading. I did not say knowledge only comes with experience, I said wisdom does. I did not say I didn't know soemthing at your age, I did, I had a child then. You do not. This is not "Ageism". I'm with you, I went through school being more intelligent than many of my teachers. Discriminating based on age is no better than discriminating for any other reason. Your age is not the issue, that is precisely what I was trying to point out. Your level of maturity and refusal to accept the knowledge and wisdom (emphasized for your convinience) is. Just as discrimination due to youth is bad, so is your "I don't like what you have to say so I deem it arrogance" style. Arrogance is not arrogance if it is founded. Parents know more about parenting than you. Stop fighting for every inch, you're (theoretically) an adult now. If you start to act like one, and become willing to actually discuss things with people, you will find them a lot more receptive. If you stop acting like a child, it won't seem like people are talking down to you. This is not arrogance, this is someone explaining to you that you're acting like you keep accusing everyone else of.
I feel I've read the majority or this banter and am ready to comment on it. I myself am not much older, I'm 23. I feel that in many situations I can be a decent parent. This situation has changed twice in the past few years.
Personally, I felt for quite some time that I could be a great parent. I "grew up" if you will at a young age and didn't thing parenting would be all that most parents I knew made it out to be in terms of difficulty. I felt that I would be a good parent. Then I married my wife who already had a young daughter. Only the act of actually raising a child can adequately express how intricate and delicate of a balance parenting can be. I have not raised a teenager, but I have assisted younger friends on the path to maturity. I do not expect these two things to be at all alike. Being an authority and being a friend are very different matters. Yes a parent can be a friend, but ultimately, if they're worth their salt, they're an authority figure.
So if it helps you understand at all from someone closer to your age... You do not know what you're talking about, you are making yourself look immature, and helping everyone in your age group do the same. Knock it off! You do think you know what you're talking about, and like every other immature adult I know, are refusing to take the advice of your elders because they are just that.
Contrary to what you said earlier
Knowledge and wisdom doesn't require first hand expirience
wisdom does, by definition, require experience. The only effective way to get parenting experience, is by being the parent, as in any other method, you are not the parent, so you are getting babysitting experience, which is, ultimately, different.
Refute my points if you like. Point by point if you desire, since that seems to be your theme. But for one, that is not the only way to argue a topic (get a new debate teacher). More importantly however, you can argue that second hand knowledge is good enough till you're blue in the face, but come back when you've got a toddler, and you'll realize how ridiculous you seemed then.
I personally find this concept intriguing: Hardware developers-"Graphics are what people want, let's make better hardware to handle prettier graphics" Game developers-"Consumers want better looking graphics, let's make the game look pretty, then people will want it" Video game opposition-"Games look too realistic, this is one of the reasons they lead to violence in the real world" Gamers-"Yeah, the graphics are nice, but this game sucks, why can't they develop better game play?"
Now I'm not trying to endorse that better graphics lead to violence, but I know I've heard this. Beyond that, I can think of at least a few old games that are still very enjoyable. Hell, there're even quite a few text games that beat the hell out of many recent games in level of fun. Maybe if we spent some more time innovating on how to make the game good, or even great, and a little less trying to innovate how to protect our cash and screw consumers out of functionality, we could all enjoy this a bit more.
I'm guessing this has a possibility of working much like when they announced that they wouldn't be making an instant messaging client, or even handling email.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that would depend on the stereo, dvd player, etc. Sure, stock may not be worth the claim, but why would you steal stock door panels?
and to easily install a new one if the thing fails (which they do occasionally do...)
I actually had a friend with a similar problem not long ago. Ended up having to have the car towed. The mechanic explained it to him in layman's terms as the car "forgot" how to start.
I'm sorry, you won't be able to do so. You see we've already informed them that we have reason to believe your comment may be in violation of the Patriot Act.
Wow, it almost sounds like you're local. Around here they park sideways in apartment parking lots and watch movies on laptops. Or park in the fire lane at wal-mart to go shopping. And that's just the tip of our lovely hometown police force.
Then perhaps the original analogy should have just included a dog? One that let your neighbor (it would seem) either use your property, or growl if he came anywhere near the area?
You do realize that the RIAA is a member-based organization, and they (technically) can't stop an individual artist, or an artist not signed to one of their member lables from taking up the action you suggest?
For that matter, they also have a member list so if you really wanted, you could keep track of all those and organize a boycott of just those lables. Not to say it would be effective, or for that matter, an easy list to recall each time you pop off to the record store, but still technically possible.
...this is in preperation as to the possibility of the failure of Blu-Ray. Consider a year or so after the launch, and Blu-Ray goes down in flaming wreckage. This way they wouldn't have to scrap the whole system, but they could offer you an "Upgrade" to an HD-DVD drive. Of course that would possibly render your old games useless, But now you've only spent 3.5-4 times (after upgrade) the amount of the other consoles to still have a ps3. Way to go.
Portable Firefox (as has been mentioned) and a bootable and under-windows capable version of DSL.
wow, three posts and not one original joke!
I await the strip in which they are sitting at the computer playing as themselves. Does that qualify for an out of body experience?

Print it out... Then it doesn't use any data space, only physical space
We couldn't have gone to the moon. It doesn't exist.

There's a good idea. I think I'll go patent that process now.
I'm guessing this has a possibility of working much like when they announced that they wouldn't be making an instant messaging client, or even handling email.
But I thought that today was 1154520000 - 1154606399

Somehow I never considered ignoring a problem to be a viable solution.

Just so long as it doesn't use the same logic as "Santa" does every "X-mas"

Does this mean we won't be seeing the "Drivers wanted" slogan anymore?
This would imply to me that the position has been filled.
...is that this had to start from someone playing with the progress bar on the original video.
"Hey honey, look. I can make Steve Ballmer dance."
For some reason I first read that as Metroid.
Now that would have been some interesting news.
I think I need to go wake up now.
This being one of the few articles you can encounter where no one comments with an inside point of view because they work in the industry.
