Counterstrike was community created, why doesn't valve just let the community create more levels, let the community vote on the best, and then release the best levels through steam/XBL for the 360? They could release a community expansion every 1-2 months, either for free or a couple bucks (for the time spent managing the input). I'm sure there are many people out there who have ideas for levels, and would be more than willing to spend the time creating the levels. Most of the levels wouldn't require new models/textures. The sandbox is there, the community is willing...
Funny how you left out solar power... Hmm, wonder why. Oh, and building a dam is only destructive on the current local ecosystem. A different ecosystem will establish itself soon after the dam is built, and then the energy is a hell of a lot cleaner than burning coal.
Don't be a troll that says that hydroelectric power or solar power is just as harmful as burning oil. That's lacking common sense.
Well, considering the Parent only posted 3 separate stories, all from Fox News I imagine that Sean Hannity is the one who told the parent all he needed to know about the story, no reading required.
Joe Dyer, former commander of the Naval Air Systems Command now at iRobot in Burlington, Mass., as follows: "I'll be seriously dead before that program deploys."
In unrelated news, Joe Dyer has been found dead in an alley. Here's tom with the weather.
100% agree. Scumm support is sketchy, and Loom isn't quite as easy to play without sound. I'd like to see developers hand over game assets/code after 10 years and let the community update it themselves. I'm sure there are plenty of budding game designers who would love to have such a learning experience. Honestly, why must X-wing be tied up with Lucasarts holding it back on the windows 98 platform? Let go luke.
So, if sony wants to aim at non-hardcore gamers, they need cheaper games/more games. I mean, look at how poorly the 360 "core" version is doing, it's the "casual" system, and everyone still mocks it and has always mocked it. The same will go for this gimped system.
Things that I would like to know about this, that TFA doesn't address directly:
1) How much of my money goes to Radiohead? I'd rather send them $20 by mail and say "for the albums i've downloaded" than give 90% of the money to the MAFIAA. If they get most of the money from this, i'll totally support it.
2) Bitrate/format of downloads? I'm not going to pay a lot for a 128 mp3.
3) Any future plans to release the Vinyl on it's own, with a card in it that gives you access to the MP3 downloads. That would be sweet. I just don't want to pay $80 for 2 records.
The "I MUST have every single song in my collection at all times!!" demand is such a red herring.
No, it's not. I have the same 10gb 3rd gen ipod, and i'll think "hmm, lets hear that Tom Waits song," Oh wait, I didn't put Tom Waits on this time. Ok, well, what about something more rockin, like Converge, Oh wait, forgot that too, But it's a good thing i have Mogwai and Godspeed You! black emperor, and esmerine and elliott smith. Looks like i was in a somber mood when i put my music on my ipod, and today, i'm not in a somber mood anymore, So all the music I wish i could listen to is sitting on my computer at home. Boy i need more that 10 gigs.
The touch is in a strange spot, it's got the storage of a Nano, (made for people like you, who don't mind listening to the same 20 albums over and over again), but it's trying to appeal to those music junkies who want a huge screen and video storage. It looks like it will appeal to rich kids who only listen to 20 albums and want to be the cool kids in school, but aren't music junkies like us who need the 80 gig ipods.
Yeah, So i'll buy a ps3 the same time I buy a ps2. One month before the PS4 comes out and the thing costs $129, with a full library of games i've not played yet. I still don't see a reason why it's worth $599, or $499 for that matter. When the Ico guys come out with their game, GOW3 and at least 10 other games hit, then the ps3 becomes worth something. Until then, a price drop means nothing to me, just like every generation.
The 360 finally has about 10 games I want to play, so i'll end up buying one this winter.
Ok, after looking at the actual statement again, The/. title is Misleading. Nowhere does he say that it's a PS3 Exclusive, or anything of the sort. "PC and 360... not confirmed" could mean, "we are in talks to make it multi-platform", definately not "oh yeah, PS3 4 Lyfe!". Are the/. editors at home already for the weekend, how did a sony fanboy sneak this through?
You make no sense, you say that adrenaline cancels out any sense of being scared, and then proceed to give anecdotes about how games scare you.
Of course games have more of a scare factor, since it's YOU that is being chased/grabbed. Movies you can totally remove yourself from it. With a game you are forced to attack these frightening creatures and sounds on your own, taking the action to reach into the small crawlspace, rather than just watching some silly teenager do it.
If history repeats itself, the most powerful, and expensive system that was later out of the gate with only one or two strong exclusives will stay second on the charts throughout it's generation, even if the price does come down to match it's competition (remember the $200, then $150 price cuts of the ps2 and xbox?). Even if it gets more exclusives that are considered "better" games, they have to come early in the life of the console, or else they don't really matter.
The reason why the ps2 did so well was the wealth of titles, good or bad, that you could choose from, now, the wii is starting to take the casual gamer away from the ps2 (which most people who bought one were casual), and the 360 is picking up the slack with more games. the 360 has better exclusives at this point (mmm, wish i was home playing Bioshock right now), and the "holiday titles" of the ps3 are coming out with mediocre reviews at best. Sony is in trouble, and they know it, just go to sonydefenseforce.com if you want a laugh about how bad it is for them.
Wait a minute... OK, follow the trail.

"actually sir, $2,000 by today's standards isn't that much..."

Doesn't that translate into "It's exclusive to PS3, until it isn't."
