Soooo, sometime in the future, an unnamed and unknown franchise will be released exclusively on the PS3, eventually. Thanks for the update. One last question, will it be a franchise like Table Tennis, or something larger. Why is this news again?
The problem is that video games are action movies, and you will find the same complaints about women in action movies, sans the swinging big weapons part. We need to get some games out there that aren't just action movies, and you'll start to get more defined characters than Generic Angry Bald Man and Titty McBoob. (There are a few games out there that don't do this, but they are few and far between, say like Shadow of the Colossus, where you still rescue your "princess", but the story has depth and layers, even if there is little narration.)
Get some engineer working on moving that tv box into a GBA cartridge size, and then have the user just leave it in their GBA slot for the DS. Simple, problem fixed.
Hell yeah! First game i bought for my NES, and if i recall correctly, the only one i payed full price for. My parents found some other games (like jackal, and Urban fighter *lol*) for $20, but they were used copies from the local VHS rental shop. The only thing that bugs me, is that it's somewhere around $6-8 to rent a video game nowadays, when it used to be $1.99.
PvP made you actually have REAL friends and REAL enemies, instead of "You're an orc and he's an elf so you hate each other". It also made guilds have value, as you needed protection and could benefit from a guildmate making your armor while you made him potions.
Actually, the backstory (having played the warcrafts before WOW) was one of the things i liked about WoW. I also have REAL friends and REAL enemies, along with Horde vs. Alliance. You sound like one of those "get off my Text-based rpg!" old men. Not that WoW didn't 'dumb-down" MMO's, but you get my wife to play UO as much as she plays WoW, and i'll give you a dollar.
I highly doubt this. Xbox live is to big of a success, and most of xbox's profits come from the games it sells, not the consoles it sells. Hard to believe that this comes from an Anonomous coward...
Usually my NoScript when blocking Java has a list of about 5 or 6 current sites running scripts (ad-servers and whatnot, ads.google.com comes up on almost every page), and anything other than the trusted site i'm at NEVER gets whitelisted, it's just not worth the risk. It's a hell of a lot better running a crippled 2.0 website than losing control of what's coming into my computer. I don't need to see all your pretty java crap, and a good site doesn't rely on java to display correctly anyway.
It was a 30 second trailer of the logo! I don't care what the press release says. SH 4 sounds like a great game on paper too. To make a slashdot post about this single game that had a 30 second trailer is strange to me. Anyone care to explain why this game gets it's own post, when this game possibly has the least amount of information around it from E3?
Regardless of what E3 "should have been", what it became was a large expo to show off every game coming out in the upcoming year. So many gems like Guitar Hero and Shadow of the Colossus were largely off the radar until they showed at E3. I looked forward to E3 time every year to see what was coming out during the next couple months. A lot of the Wii's success came from last year's e3 hype. Half-Life 2's showing at e3 sticks out in my mind also.
The gap that is left in the public sphere is the "coming soon" aspect of e3. hardly any new games shown at this year's e3. I don't know if this is because fewer new games are coming out this year, or if the whole new format confused the major companies.
I would be happy with no e3 if there was an online version to replace what e3 really is, a massive trailer distributor. "here, this is what's coming out on xb0x360 in the next year. Download the trailers off of xbox.com in 720p high def, in their entirety. Enjoy!" or what have you. If you really want e3 to be a "insider" event, don't invite the press, and don't have massive press conferences that we can watch grainy youtube videos of. killzone2 looks as crappy as killzone1 according to the version of video i saw!
Get with the now game companies! Learn how to put your trailers online and stop treating them like they are worth hiding! Put em out there, they are promo materials, let them promote!
Only on a flameheavy thread such as this would this be modded "informative"! Cuz we all know how "dead" the graphics-weak ps2 was 2 years after it's release! All the fanboy rants are beginning to make me sick.
This is the best comment in the thread (or most on topic, take your pick). Most preview looks at games talk about how "awesome" these games are, not matter how they really feel about them. Or there might be some sort of "aura" given off by being a privledged game journalist who gets invited to see a AAA game before it comes out that makes you spout garbage, because you want the "i said it was cool first" cred. Never trust previews of games. NEVER.
[rootkit]Create by First 4 Internet and removed by Sony BMG.
What!! yeah, Sony had NO idea that a rootkit was on their cd's. Completely someone elses idea. It's SOOO easy to slip that in a major record company's major releases.
[lik-sang]Closed due to a decision made by the High Court of London.
OMG. Yeah, that's a pretty far stretch. That's like saying that allofmp3 wasn't closed down by the RIAA or the US, it was shut down by a russian Judge. You win fanboy of the day.
let me continue...

Yeah yeah yeah, now all the Sony apologists will say that Microsoft has the same problems. Yeah, and? Are you saying that we shouldn't take either of these companies to task for their crappy business practices? I won't buy a x360 until they stop getting the red ring of death, and I won't buy a ps3 until sony gives me a reason to buy the damn system. Sony HAS harmed me on several occasions (unknown rootkits, and broken ps2's, DVD's that won't play due to Copy Protection) while I haven't had a problem with MS (I avoid things like Playsforsure and Zzune, guess i've been lucky), So ME PERSONALLY, I don't trust sony from the crap I'VE experienced. I hear about the bad things MS does too, but I've never had any experience of it. My original xbox works like a charm, and still gets played frequently. I can't say that about my fried ps2.
3 FF games? You do realize that there is a good 5 years between most major Final Fantasy games... planning on buying a PS3 in 2020? If the ps3 is still $300 in 2020, i'll buy everyone on slashdot one.
In a world... before the internet. In a time... when you couldn't get pROn for ree. In a kingdom... during the 1980's. Quit flogging that horse sir, he's starting to rot.
Are you kidding me? Outing a CIA agent isn't criminal? You must be listening to the Faux Noise channel a bit too often. Who cares if the 'conviction' still stands! like this guy will have any problem getting any job/lobbyist position he wants. He just became the most wanted employee in big business, willing to go to court and spend jail time to obstruct an investigation of his employer. He'll have no problem finding a job Lobbying for Sudan in Washington DC.
One of the biggest record companies refuses to continue its relationship with the #1 distributor of digital online music, and it's tagged as a slownewsday? Is this because the post isn't about the iPhone?
So you only disagree with the "all encompassing" view of the big bang as it's referred to, and don't deny the possibility that it's a smaller bang in the view of what size the universe could possibly be. It's the semantics you are arguing about, the language we use, not the actual act of the universe collapsing and then expanding.
Did he just swear in Gungan?
Mmm, i love the smell of desperation on slashdot in the afternoon.
Me too! I guess i'll always be that 6 year old who keeps bugging my brother to play Contra with me. That Price drop isn't gonna hurt either :P
Maybe Mulder should have been looking in his PS3, not "out there".

I bet it's just like playing a 24 fret, 6 string guitar on 5 buttons.

1.5% of people with computers burn dvd's huh... Somone do the math and see if (Netflix Subscribers):(1.5% of people with computers) is a 1:1 ratio.
