I don't think its really a black and white comparison. Obviously desktops have advantages and laptops have advantages. You dont want to lug around a 22 inch screen on your laptop but for your desktop, you want that. You're not going to get the latest and greatest hardware on a laptop, but you can on a desktop. Laptops are portable and good enough for most people, but a bit pricier than desktops.
It's a different tool for a different job kind of thing, the summary makes it seem simpler than that.
That 200 bucks hasn't been confirmed by Harmonix. On the faq on the rock band website it specifically says the pricing is still in the air. rockband.com
I go to a top 5 engineering school. Even there the emphasis is less and less on the actual science and more on business and so called leadership skills. People are being trained less in hard science and more in corporate ways. If you take an engineering class, from my experience, half the people don't care about being an engineer and want to get their MBA and be a manager and "make money".
Until we get rid of this crap that "The business of America is business" this will not change and we will continue to lose ground on the science front.
To buy a rated M game you need to be 17. To buy an AO game you need to be 18. Is that one year gap really that killer that it would ruin the sales of the whole game? I can see why retailers wouldn't want to stock AO games that are basically porn, but games much less violent than something like Hostel or Saw III which they are selling should be able to share the space.
The last thing that enjoyed this much hype was Snakes on A Plane. Remember how good that was when it actually came out? I predict iPhone will share the same fate, and shares of Apple will plummet!
Advanced filtering and tagging makes it easy to prioritize your email. If you don't have time to read your low priority email, then simply don't read it. There's no law saying you have to read every email you receive. It's stupid to turn your back on all your email just because you can't read some of it.
Why do they even have people working on Episode 3 when Episode 2 has been pushed back nearly a year already?
I think Valve needs to set its priorities and finish one thing before starting another. (Or at least give us a TF2 standalone if thats done!)

They do have some big ideas though.. lets see how many people are for: Abolishing the U.S. senate; getting rid of all U.S. intelligence agencies: NSA, CIA, etc; and abolishing the death penalty (we tried that already.. didn't work so well).. Not to mention their plans to destroy the U.S. economy, and their other ridiculous plans (even if you agree with these, you have to admit that their opponents will label these this way in a race)
