It depends on the plant. I don't have one of these systems, although I had a neighbor with one. He didn't seem to have issues. Here's an article that talks about gray water and plants:How does detergent in gray water affect landscape plants? While i was looking for that on I also found another that goes into local water codes in DFW area that pertain: City rules on gray water around Dallas-Fort WorthObviously, YMMV, but gives an idea of some of the regulations.
I can't really see retrofitting something like this being very cost effective unless you garden in Arizona.
it's not supposed to end up in the same sewer. in a dual system, black water goes to sewer and gray water is used to water plants, soak foundation if you have soil/settling issues, etc. The only reason to install separate systems is to reuse the gray water. Regulations on what you can and can't do with the water, how much you can store and any required devices like backflow prevention should be in local building codes.
So, in answer to your question. Installing a completely separate system would cut down on water waste and be environmentally helpful. If your plumber doesn't understand what you're going for with dual systems, you should get another plumber.
I was thinking the same thing. The tone of the article is that MP3 or lossy formats are the culprit. This compression for loudness thing started long before digital music became popular and no doubt they are using the same mix regardless of the final format. What's the old saying, Garbage In, Garbage Out?
Windows 7 home premium on BestBuy.com for $109. Have you installed Windows 7? I've installed on 5 PC's and you pretty much start it and walk away for an hour or so. When you come back you have an OS, can play any windows game and a lot of console games that get ported to windows for far less than the cost of a console. A couple of hours done once to install and set up and you're done. Compare that with what seems like the need to fart around with WINE and such for every game. Play enough games and you'd spend a lot less time in the end.
Anyway, if there was a real market for Linux gaming more major publishers would support it. They're too greedy NOT to suck in any revenue stream they can find that's a profit. Personally, I don't think it's Linux the OS that keeps them away, I think it's Linux users. Face it, if you're using Linux you're likely to mess around and have a nonstandard installation. That makes for additional support headaches on top of the cost of porting.
Is VM or dual boot a perfect solution? No (I'm running Ubuntu/Win7 dual boot). But I'm not personally willing to miss out on some great games by holding my breath for publishers to see the light.
Run a VM or dual boot already. The cost of a copy of Windows is far less than any game console and you get to run the hundreds of Windows only games out there natively. Having Windows in a VM doesn't obligate you to use it for everything. Supporting linux is admirable, but who's the loser with this linux or nothing attitude? Not the game publishers. Sending a message only works when there are enough people to be heard.
I've read here and other places that one of the issues with solar adoption, at least in the USA, is that while the price of the hardware has dropped, the cost of an actual installation has remained relatively flat. Say you have an installer that is charging you $20K for a system. If ten years ago it cost them say 17k for pv panels and now it costs them $12k, they are pocketing the extra money rather than passing the savings on. If true, it sucks, but can't say as I blame them since people are apparently willing to pay.
idiot? wow. did you bother going to the expedition site? it says all over the place they will be using the sub's ability to move horizontally @ up to 3 knots while to explore various areas for up to 6 hours. That sounds more than fractions of a kph or minimally mobile. maybe they are overly optimistic, but it's a big improvement on the original Trieste.
why does the Trieste come up every time this new vehicle is the topic? The Trieste was an underwater elevator and no more. You went down, you saw a sliver of the bottom through tiny portals and you went up. It's less exploration and more "i got there first". Deepsea Challenger can actually, you know, MOVE. Sure they could have sent a robot, and maybe that gets you all hot and steamy. For me, it's nice to know that people are willing to explore somewhere now that manned space flight is on it's way out the door.
Please? I don't want anymore "we're stopping the bad guys, trust us" crap. What I want to see is a detailed list of ACTUAL threats and how they were stopped from 9/11 to the present. If it compromises a current operation then leave it off, but for shit's sake, surely they have closed a few cases in the last decade. I hope so anyway. I get so tired of hearing nothing by rumors and rah-rah shit from the feds. Either the terrorism threat is overblown, or it's real and these guys are stopping bad things from happening. Either way we should know the particulars. Don't know about you, but I'm not entirely comfortable trusting the government to keep me safe.
"Or does the mother of his child want sole custody and just copied the files on his computer or placed the pictures in his house?"
You better believe this crap happens. Wife wants custody? Bring up child molestion or CP accusations. Who cares if it's true? You might force a settlement! I know people that have spent YEARS in divorce court over that kind of stuff.
who's mad? just trying to figure out if you're serious. you are sitting there saying that it's perfectly ok for some random person to appoint themselves as the courtesy patrol in a public location and to use an illegal device to do so. Whether it SHOULD be legal or not is not the point. It is illegal, and until you get the law changed you have no ground to stand on. Go on out and cut your neighbor's power line because they play loud music. See how far you get with the judge arguing that the law is not black and white and that it is your intent that matters.
"I have a hard time believing your story that they think it is their property."
Come on. Treating public transportation as if it's your private vehicle and you get to dictate what goes on inside sounds like a sense of entitlement. Why else would they be doing this? As a public service? Run for the local transportation board if you want to do that.
"Really deluded view you got there, guy."
Not really, it's just that you're implying that anything goes as long as "peace" is maintained. Just wondered if you had a limit on "anything". Apparently things do go black and white at some point.
If you're willing to tolerate anyone, then why did you reply to my post? It was specifically a reply to the OP who DOES use a jammer. By replying and arguing that the jammer is ok then suddenly saying, oh not me bro, I don't care about anything, you sound like a troll. Mad? Not really, but certainly frustrated by passive-aggressive types that won't just talk to other people to avoid any conflict. Anyway, I'm done. Either you're trolling or we just have such opposite viewpoints that it doesn't matter what's said.
"So in your mind, it's okay to tolerate very loud and clearly obnoxious people, but not okay to tolerate someone who is being potentially obnoxious while restoring the peace for most individuals."
Your potentially obnoxious person has an inflated sense of entitlement (this is MY bus) and instead of asking someone to talk quietly, they resort to passive-aggressive behavior that impacts everyone on the bus just so they can enjoy their quiet and conflict free bubble.
"The fact you base your argument over what is legal"
Really? You want to tell me that someone using a banned device to interrupt everyone on a bus is somehow morally superior? Ends justify the means? How about if the person just gassed everyone on the bus? No less illegal, is that moral? This all sounds like a vigilante trying to justify their actions to me.
"...stickers that asks you not to be loud and annoying to other passengers..."
Look, if you want to be the public transportation politeness enforcer, get a job as a bus driver or transit cop.
The funny thing here, is your sense of entitlement is the same as the loud, obnoxious person. You both want to be the center of your little world no matter who is impacted.
it's funny how tastes differ. I always thought it would be awesome to have a Dune movie that didn't cut so much out of the book. Then I got it (SyFy) and realized it was too much. I always felt the David Lynch version had the right look and feel, it was just too trimmed down. I'd have loved to see a 4 hour version of it. Just the right look and enough time to flesh things out.
so basically you're saying your response to a rude public asshole is to be a rude secret asshole? Public transportation pal, if you can't tolerate other people, get some noise cancelling headphones, or better yet get a car. I rode the bus and train for many years before telecommuting and I agree these loud talkers are annoying, but they are legal. You on the other hand are breaking the law to enforce your little cone of silence. Tell you what, next time you're talking to someone how would you like it if some jerk slapped a strip of duct tape over your mouth?
There are also signs that publishers are cooling..

I think the continued dominance of iPad in the tablet market is what's cooling publishers. They probably don't like the thought of being sucked into the Apple-verse the way the music industry has been. I can't imagine they want to be joined at the hip with a single company.
ex wife goes to a store armed with a 25% off coupon. buys a few items and goes to register. the cashier can't figure out 25% off, even with a calculator. so she calls the manager. they slap some buttons for a while and eventually decide on an amount that's 25% of the price... ex wife wishes she'd bought a cart load.
i try not to. funny how these folks will vote away all their rights in the name of "security", but wouldn't in a million years vote for something that would save lives.
i believe the 1960 vehicle had the ability to go down, then up. period. this one can go down, explore around, then go up. kind of the difference between an elevator and an airplane.
but, how many thousands die at the hands of drunk drivers each year? The breathalyzer mandate would be a tougher sell but save more lives. i guess you can sell cameras as "think of the children". The only thing that scares me on the road is the drunken idiots.

Maybe Apple can dip into that huge cash supply to fix the traffic in Austin.

Smoking on most buses is not permitted and clearly marked in signage. Talking on the phone IS permitted.
