The patriot act is only legal in the USA, not outside, as the US has no authority outside it's borders..
And even a company that has it's main office in the states, but it's servers in a country like the netherlands, the law of THAT country is in effect, not the US one.
Otherwise any country would make their own laws which gives them the right to just take anything they want.
Stupid american goverment think they own the world and can do anything they please, guess what, NOT!
Normally when you return something, you have to fill out a form (at least at the stores I've been too) and have to show ID (which is recorded on the form), so if a customer returned a clay ipad, it should be easy(ish) to backtrack the customer throught the forms.
But who isn't to say the person didn't do it himself? $700 is high enough for people to go through such lengths (like going to the police etc) to make it look like they didn't do it themselves, enough conartists out there..
It's not like people have anything else to do when driving.. Stop this shit, it only makes traffic more dangerous as it already is.. People are not able to use this kind of technology safely, that's just a given..
If Apple is granted this patent then we certainly know they have bribed the patentofficers, as this has been publicized a lot already and even been shown by some engineers already FOR MOBILE DEVICES.. just like they got a patent on using an app during a phonecall, how in the world did they even be able to get that (multitasking) patent at all can only be contributed to a patentofficer been bribed..
But what's the use of so called progress if it sets us back on another plane, which is even more devastating as being able to put your info on facebook (or whatever)..
I'm no enviromentalist, as I only care about myself and I don't really care about the enviroment, but if the enviroment is going crap, it hurts ME, and as I said, that's what I care about..
I'm not an environmentalist, but yeah, where does the heated water go? I don't think they will dump it back into the fjord directly.. But even a few degrees more being poured back into the fjord for a long time can be devastating to the enviroment, and not only the direct enviroment, but also nearby.. In the end the joke's on us and we'll have to deal with the consequences..
So they actually patented multitasking on a mobile device? cause that's what it's actually is.. My god, they really must be bribing Patentoffice clerks as otherwise these kinds of patents can't be granted..
It's not true that the PS-vita has been hacked.. All that was established is that the PSP-emulator does exactly what a real PSP does, because all the hacks that work on the original PSP also work on the PSP-emulator that runs on the PS-vita..
If the hacks didn't work there would be a big problem running PSP-games on the PS-vita anyway.. But then again, this is good news for original PSP-owners who now can get 'illegal' images of the UMD-games they already own and run them on the PS-vita (where you otherwise had to rebuy them, which ofcourse is ridiculous if you already own the original PSP-game).
uhh.. there is definitly a law against the US from sending unmanned surveillance drones into ANY country without permission, the US is part of the UN and therefore they also have to obey those laws. I guess you must be an american to think there is not, americans think invading any other country is legal.. think again.. IMHO Iran can have it's own nuke's as long as the US or any other country that threatens them also has them, and we all know that the US is the only country ever to unnecessarily use nukes against others and kill a lot of innocent people..
This has nothing to do with Robin Hood at all, they're using stolen credit card data so it also affects CC companies and the owners of the CC. Also this will hit the common people too, as banks loose money and need to compensate for it, which means lowering intrest, raising prices.
If it's known the donation was done using a stolen CC the charity has to give the money back anyway, so there is no win situation as that'll costs a lot time too..
Anonymous aren't the smartest people, yes they seem to know a lot about how to hack stuff, but when it comes to anything else they seem to be as dumb as a pig's ass..
Just as everything evolves, so does a modern OS, and in a modern OS we as a consumer expect stuff like Browsers, mediaplayers, Anti-virus/malware protection, firewall, notepad, emailclient etc.. Ofcourse it should also be possible to have a substitude for those, BUT it should at least come with one default installed. If Apple is allowed to do it with their MacOS/iOS, so must microsoft be able to do it..
There's always room for 3rd party substitudes..
As a consumer I don't care if MS has a monopoly, if it works it works and I'm happy (and don't come crying that it doesn't, as the tools MS is suplying with Windows 7 are very solid, also the anti-virus/malware. And don't come yelling about IE as we all know all the other browsers have just as many (and sometimes even more) flaws as IE), and if you're not happy, then go buy/download YOUR favorite browser/mediaplayer/anti-virusmalware/firewall/emailclient/etc, that the nice thing about Windows, you can do that too.. And if you're not happy with Windows, then stop crying and go use Linux/MacOSX or whatever suits your needs..
The on person who fucked up Harry Potter is about to FU another great franchise.. I never understood why he even got the chance to direct another HP let alone 4! his directing was bad as hell..
You can also say, without the tweet originating from his job it wouldn't have had so many followers.. Also he started it to tweet stuff from his work.. And if there isn't anything in your contract, then any personal projects done during work hours can revert to your boss.. That's why you should always have it specifically adressed in your contract if your personal projects are in the same line as your work (which means, if you are a programmer, anything you program can belong to your employer, BUT! if you are a busdriver and you program something, it's a different matter)..
You should always separate your accounts you use for business and for personal stuff, unless ofcourse you own the business yourself (but even then it's wise to separate them incase you sell your business).
Why Siri Is a Google Killer' that says that Apple's biggest advantage over any other voice application out there today is the massive data Siri will collect in the next 2 years — all being stored in Apple's massive North Carolina data center
uhh.. did anyone actually know the program is collection data? for me this would be a big reason to stay the hell away from Siri.. also it's typically Apple, claiming something as if they invented it, even though there have been many likewise applications/designs on the market already.. Yes they are very good at marketing...
I always wondered what kind of support really is given? Mostly it really is just giving answers to question which are compiled into FAQs or Forums, so everything is already available..
People used to said the world was flat... Now we know it isn't...
Laws of physics are derived by people so they can be faulty and therefore if people say something can't because the laws of physics say so then they are wrong..
I'm not saying this is real, but I'm openminded to say that our understanding of physics is far from complete and therefore cannot explain a lot phenomena..
We only can hope this is real as it would solve a lot of energy problems.. (and ofcourse create others)
But what is a 'good' browser.. FF, Chrome, Opera or Safari aren't better browsers, they all got their pro's and con's.. mostly people have a distaste of IE because it's from Microsoft, not because it might not be a good browser.. In your example, Apple users would always use Safari because they also wouldn't know about other browsers, so it's completely the same..
I have never understood the fuzz, if people wanted a different browser they could go ahead and install it. A lot of developers even use parts of IE for their own application as it's always available on a computer.
A browser is just a part of a modernday OS, just like a mediaplayer and a anti-malware solution. Normal consumers don't want the fuzz of having to decide which browser they want (they are all good and bad points), they just want to start the computer and go online without any hassle.. When you buy an Apple it also comes with everything preinstalled. Also with a lot of Linux distributions default apps are installed..
If you don't like it, then just don't use it and get your own favorite application, it's that simple..
How is it possible for the USPTO to grant the patent when there is prior art (which doesn't matter where it was done first)? This seems like a big 'here you have some cash boy and grant us the patent'. So no matter what, they should fire a lot of people at USPTO as they are NOT doing their work as it should (or because they got a bribe or they just didn't search enough)..
So on the otherhand it won't be difficult to get the patent invalidated again as it has prior art..
OMG they've done it again, apple is again trying to get people to think they invented it.. Speech recognition is nothing new, and certainly isn't the best way to use an interface..
please no, I already hate the paging at a lot of forum/webshops (takes much more time to switch back and forth, scrolling is much faster)..
But as long as it's optional I won't mind..
with an $60 commercial pricetag, it's not even cheap anymore, as you can get an even better one (better specs) for around the same price if you shop a bit around..
The patriot act is only legal in the USA, not outside, as the US has no authority outside it's borders..

Stupid american goverment think they own the world and can do anything they please, guess what, NOT!
I remember seeing such a thing a couple of years ago from japan, so it's nothing new..
certainly won't trade in my Jeep Cherokee for a dingy like that..
Normally when you return something, you have to fill out a form (at least at the stores I've been too) and have to show ID (which is recorded on the form), so if a customer returned a clay ipad, it should be easy(ish) to backtrack the customer throught the forms.
