what nonsense, this has nothing to do with free speech.. why is that argument always brought up when someone talks about a business not wanting their content(even if it's a headline) to be used as an infringement of free speech...
Wake me up when it actually is running on a PS3.... this is just a Kinect connected to a PC and running emulation software to turn the movements into PS3 sixaxis controller commands.. Nothing really fancy... It's just like using JoyCur for getting joystickcommands to be turned into keyboard commands..
Well, his statement is true when if everybody has the latest and the best PC available now with like triple SLI using the best videocards.. but in all the years I had a highend PC I never ever saw it producing images as shown on conventions/trailers, even when the games got older and I got a new PC..
A regular gaming PC (at this moment) is a bit better as curent consoles, but given the price of a console and the 'fixed' hardware in it you mostly can't beat the 'plug-and-play' experience of a console, and not having to upgrade.. With the next consoles (if there will be any) you will see those surpase the semi-highend pc's of that time, but for less bucks, just like in the past..
Why would I have to pay $10 a month extra just because some other sshl wants to 'steal' music.. and just as with the tax on blank cd's/dvd's, how are they going to split the money with all those creative people... I know a company which also tried to get some money from that pot of gold because they made content, but they where turned down. So how are you as a songwriter/artist/moviemaker/whatever going to get the money...
People are so ignorant and naive in thinking they can copy anything and publish it. If you are creating a game/movie that is using other people's IP/gamedesign you better be prepared for stuff like this, it's common knowledge. If you do not make money off your game (so you won't be selling it, or stuffing it with a lot of advertisement) they might let it slip, unless it's really trademarked as then they have to actively do something about it.
So don't go blaming companies for their 'witchhunt', go blame yourself for not getting permission first. In this case I also think the app was being sold, so I really can't blame the company as you are just making money of their IP.
Personally I think current 3D-cinema does work, I don't mind the glasses and I do think it adds something to the mix (not for all kind of movies ofcourse). I think it's just pretentious/snob talk.
as I said it's all in the eye of the beholder, as some people really don't like the glasses and those are the ones that regularly complain that 3D just sux.. Yes 3D can suck if done poorly, but even if it's done mediocretly it can add something..
Oh come on, 99% of the consumers who buy a computer want's it to run out of the box, it's only 1% (even less) who actually doesn't want Windows and those people are normally smart enough to get their refunds.
Most users do not realise that starting the software means you have accepted the end user licence.
We'll people should just read what they are agreeing to, and not just push 'OK' and start bitching later...
Yeah I understand why you don't want Windows, but you have to keep in mind that nerds are only a very small group when it comes to preconfigured computers, and these days most big companies do sell laptops/desktops without Windows. At this moment Linux is just not userfriendly enough for a lot of people (especially with all the different distro's which aren't compatible with each other), it's a great OS for 'us' nerds. And I still wonder why people bitch about Windows when you can't get an Apple without MacOSX, and YES MacOSX isn't free either (you pay heftily for it).
And who decides what the new versions of HTML will support? It looks more to me that Google is trying to take over the whole internet.. Versioning is needed no matter how you see it.. And how will the new 'HTML' standard evolve? the whole thing only seems to me that it will be one big BIG mess if nothing is really agreed on by many people..
But the problem with IT is that a lot of 'new' frameworks are only created because they want something new to show, not because it has real new advantages.. 'New programming techniques' are more and more for real lazy programmers which do not utilize the full potential of the hardware, we keep needing faster and faster computers just to be able to run the new programs with exactly the same options as the old program only it looks nicer (to some people).. Software tends to get slower and slower because of these unoptimized frameworks, and people don't tend to optimize these frameworks anymore as within a half of year there's yet anothwe new fad framework with a fancy name which 'hip' programmers want to use..
And when I have to use these new libraries, I see a common trend of functions which are only half implemented and haven't really been thought through (well at least not from a logical point IMHO)..
Also why should a programmer have to learn these new 'skills' on their own time? it's not like a surgeon learns new surgical techniques on HIS own time...
that's just big BS, small cars can even polute more than a big SUV, especially when we are talking about old cars.. for instance an old mini cooper or citroen deuxchevoux (or whatever that old ugly duck car is called) polutes more than my Jeep, especially when I'm driving on LPG (hell my jeep on LPG even polutes less than an average mercedes)..
If they plan on banning SUV's then they should also ban old cars which polute just as much...
I do hope only a few motorsounds are permitted, otherwise it will be a hell as we all know a lot of people will have very annoying sounds..
Personally I don't think a car should have to make noise at all, it's not like a bicycle makes a lot noise.. Pedestrians should just watch were they are going and not just cross a street without first checking (you learn that as a toddler)..
And with a statement like that you immediatly know why other countries have just as much right to have nuclearweapons as the US does.. There is only one country in the world that ever (unnecessary) used nuclear weapons against another country, and it's THAT same country which threatens other countries about their innitiation into nuclear weapon development.. I'm certainly against nuclear wepaons, but as long as the US still has (and still are producing) nuclear weapons, other countries have just as much right to do so too.. Also I don't like the North korean stance, but South korea and the US are provoking them with their unnecessary military excercises.. To me as an european it all seems too much like the US and the SK are provoking NK with the intent on NK striking first so they can say heee we didn't start the war even though they actually did..
A wise decssion would not to hold military excercises near NK (sea)borders (there is really no need for that unless you actually want to provoke).
We may not like the leaders of NK and their reign over their country, but provoking them to make the first strike is even more hypocritically, especially from the US which has helped to overrun enough goverments with even worse goverments.. (remember Irac for instance)...
Only in this case when buying an ebook from amazon you agree to their useragreement and that allows them to remove the book after sale.. Ofcourse it doesn't make it a good business policy.. But you agreed to their terms...
Personally I have high doubts with this whole article as I cannot believe amazon would do something like this purely because of a subject....
This nonsense and childish behaviour should stop, it's only for their own ego and nothing else.. In the netherlands the first person is already taken into custody for doing the ddos-attachs, I hope they get all those morons.. Stop it, it certainly isn't in wikileaks interest...
Oh comeon, are you really that dumb? it looks like pac-man, it plays like pac-man, so it should be considered pac-man... You must be really a blockhead if you didn't see this coming, especially if you ask money for it (It's not clear if you do). If you every create a game that is clearly based on another game then make sure you've got clearance from the original creator, if you don't then at least make sure you don't make money of it.
People shouldn't act like they are a victim if they clearly are stupid enough to rip someone's idea and think they can get away with it....
I hope they will go after the people who DoSSed the site, as it's just childish/immoral behaviour, in the end it's the entertainment industry which is boss over their own content not some annoying nerds. If you don't like the businessmodel these companies have, then go create your own content and release it for free.. Entertainment content is still a luxury item not a basic necessity, and therefore the people who create(/invest in) the content are the ones who can decide how they distribute/sell the content, if you don't like it then don't buy it, but don't go stealing it.. It's not like you don't want YOUR property protected from being stolen..
If you think creating content is so easy then go create it yourself.
The only reason why people are against going after downloaders is because they could be the target, downloading is still so easy and doesn't take much effort in comparision to stealing a car, but it's just the same in the end.. Just wake up and try to put yourself in the shoes of contentcreators who are doing it for a living.. A lot of companies are already collapsing because people are stealing their content instead of buying it. And let's not forget, the high profile movies pay for the movies that bomb or arthouse, so one movie makes a profit, but that profit is mostly spend on the losses they made on other movies..
creative expression being hampered by lack of technology? My god what kind of BS is that... It's technology that limits creative expression, it was the lack of powerfull machines that made great games back in the days, because they where innovating and where extra creative because of the lack of tech.. Because you have better graphics or physics doesn't mean you can make better games.. Saying stuff like 'creative expression being hampered' only means you're lazy and don't have any creative expression in you..
All I can say it that I find those developers very childish, the only thing they did is make it even more difficult for the users.. Now there are two variants of OpenOffice, and that's the biggest problem with the whole opensource thing and also a reason why some companies stay with MS-office.. Yeah it's nice you can just take the code and create your own fork, but in the end it also hurts the availability and consistency of the product.. some people will stay with open office and some will go to libre office..
That's one of the biggest problem with opensource coders, they have a tendency to be crybabies/primadonna's and if it doesn't suit them they start crying/yelling like a little child...
He should get his head examined... If he says what he says he certainly isn't a programmer.. If you need more characters as what's possible with ASCII for creating your code you should really get back to basic or get out of the business altogether.. there is no need for even more characters to create your code..
Well, other countries offered also reductions, and believe me, NZ will benefit greatly from having the Hobbit filmed in NZ.. just like it did when LotR filmed in NZ.. and when LotR filmed in NZ nobody really knew about it, but now with the Hobit EVERYBODY knows.. which will increase tourism a lot..
I really hope it will not come to this.. Apple isn't great at keeping things open, so it would propbaly mean you need iTunes to log into facebook or something.. If Apple is buying facebook it will be time to look for another social network..
I think you also have the opportunity to buy a PS3 at bestbuy which isn't updated for the regular price.. Otherwise I would also suggest going to another retailer, there are more then enough who are willing to sell it to you for less..
Ofcourse they should do that, reroute all traffic to a specific page which warns them, and if possible even have a cleanup tool ready to download..
I personally would like to be warned for a problem that is not recognized by a lot of anti-virus/malware software, and even with not being able to use the internet until the problem is fixed.

But the biggest question is, is the blogger in question a real journalist or just a blogger..
