  1. Re:My Motto on 66% of All Windows Users Still Use Windows XP · · Score: 0

I'm sorry, but I too think the Windows 7 UI is crap. I have more trouble finding stuff, need to check every icon on the taskbar to see what window it is because there is no text anymore. Installing isn't imporved at all, yeah maybe the installing of the OS itself, but for me that's something I only do once in a couple of years, and then I don't mind if I have to check for those few drivers.. And in regard to installing, installing a printer for example is a bitch on windows 7 IMHO, why the hell can't it keep the list of drivers after I have said to use 'Windows update'..

The new startmenu is a real bitch, I hate having to click through every single menu, I'm glad someone made a replacement which makes it more like the XP version where is just pops open when you hoover over it.

I also don't see any real improvement on networking compared to Windows XP.

But because YOU like the UI doesn't mean for someone else it also must be better. I guess you really believe a newer UI always is better for productivity, well maybe it's for you, but the windows 7 UI certainly isn't for me.. I'm not saying it doesn't have any plusses..

I will be buying windows 7 for my new computer, but that's not because I like it, but because it's the current OS MS is only supporting right now..

Ani23 above my post says it perfectly.. also when I read your response, you are comparing it to Vista instead of XP, as I don't get ANY nags in XP.. and I'm a developer too..

And especially your remark about them stealing it from your house, no self respecting corporation would ever steal such an amateuristic production. But I know for a fact, that the Amazon app store isn't as cheap for developers as the Google App store, it will cost you $99 a year.. Also it takes about 2 weeks for them to review your app, and that's with every revision (well according to the information they send to a developerfriend of mine)..

It can't be the reason as I know for a fact there are a few 'homemade'-movies which have imdb listings like cardboardman (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1730680/) and it has only got a youtube publication... But maybe the problem is, they still haven't released it.. And until they release it, it just doesn't exist to them.. Try again when it's actually finished (and ofcourse I don't blame them for that, otherwise imdb would be full of crap that is never finished.. And yes there are exceptions ofcourse when it comes to high profile production companies, but that's because they have a track record of actually producing the movies...

So I guess the makers of this movie should stop bitching and finish the movie first.. so many 'homemade' movies have started but never finished.. finish and release it and then submit it to imdb, then you'll certainly will get an entry...

this whole story seems more like a cry for attention...

Best thing would be for Sony to just open up the PS3 development with something like microsoft's XNA-studio.. So just release the latest SDK and let people do what they want with it.

biggest problem though is piracy of games, if that was somehow not possible then they propably already have done it.

but then again, how many real homebrew have we already seen on other devices after the first wave when homebrew was made possible on those devices.. Not much...

this is a great day for content freedom around the world

This has nothing to do with content freedom, this is only interesting if you plan on 'stealing' content. If people would just buy their content instead of stealing it, all these DRM/copy-protections would not have been necessary. If you think content is too expensive, then just ignore it and go for it when it's a lower price you are willing to pay. It's not like you would steal a car because you don't want to pay for it (at least normal people wouldn't), but when it comes to something that can be stolen without a risk on getting caught it's ok for a lot of people. Let's not forget that all of these content are nothing more than luxury items and not a basic necessity..

The glasses will only get better and cheaper and are already available as light and slim as regular sunglasses. also with the shutterglasses you don't have the viewingangle problem, which is a major MAJOR problem with non-glasses-based TV's. for me 3D with some movies do actually add something, but watching a romantic comedy in 3D is overkill IMHO.. But I guess some people just need something to bitch about, and it's never good enough.. for pc-gaming I'm still waiting for the HMD's with 1280x720p or fullHD with tracking, as all current affordable HMD's are still 640x480 per eye with crappy (yaw)tracking (ex, vuzix VR920).

Also it's one of the reasons why everything is getting so bloated, and people actually don't know how stuff really works below the bonnet. I want the best possible performance of my new computer, so why should I take bloated/unoptimized programs for granted, just because my computer is fast enough? hell that's not why I buy a new computer. We all use MP3 which is also know to impear hearing (because of specific sounds(frequencies) being removed during encoding), also the sound volume has never hampered anyone from using headsets... Also the specified report is in regard to a HMD (heda mounted device) which is something completely different as 3D-shutterglasses. Inh a HMD you have special optics which are needed to be able to see the displays up close correctly, and the biggest problem with those in cheap devices is they aren't precise enough to align the optics perfectly for most people. And it's the misalignment of those optics that are 'dangerous'.. I myself have some of those old HMD's and can attest that if you don't align/focus the optics correctly you can seriously hamper your vision if used for a longer period.. IMHO the Forte VFX-1 had the best configurable optics for any consumer HMD (if only they had used glass instead of plastic for the lenses it would even be much better). Since the 3D-shutterglasses doesn't rely on optics it's something completely different as the HMD problems.. The only thing I can think of what might be a problem is that you can look above/under your glasses, so I think those 'sunglasses' which go 'round' your head would be much better (I know those kind of blue/red glasses work better for me as the regular 'paper'versions (as long as the colortint of the glasses are also correct ofcourse)...

I agree that current/new sites should have stricter protocols/safeties (Hell, the US goverment should look at them selves also for the disaster as they don't even have a mandatory safetyvalve in the contracts (which over here in the EU is mandatory (I think it even must have 2 safetyvalves)), ok in this case BP did have one safetyvalve and it didn't function properly), but stopping drilling won't do anyone any good.. One thing that has bothered me, is the fact why they didn't just blow the well with nukes, just like the russians have done a couple of times.. I can only think of one reason, and that is really pure money, as I presume blowing it up like that makes the well unusable for quite some time..
