sorry, but she's very blunt at telling the story as she sees it. Piracy does in fact hurt sales very much, but some people have the notion that, 'otherwise I would not have bought it anyway' is counting as not a missing sale. But it IS a missing sale, as you have consumed the content without paying for it. If you only downloaded it and didn't do anything with it, then that case can be considered not a lost sale, but if you download it and consume the content, then it IS a lost sale. Piracy may not hurt larger companies as such, but for smaller companies it can mean death as all costs can't be recouped because only a small group of people actually bought it and the rest just pirated it. I've seen many companies go down by piracy.
Why is it a problem to use to do a system thing which you normally only do once in a while. Glad IBM didn't want to add a special key for that, because otherwise I would also like a special key for copy, paste, select all, and what more functions I need to pres multiple keys for. Wait... then my whole desk would be one giant keyboard..
There's a topic that isn't clear cut.. What IS user friendly? there is no ONE user friendly way, as what might be user friendly to one person might be crap to another (believe me, these days a lot of designers have no grasp on what actually is user friendly).
what's next? the browser blocks certain kind of texts which they deem inappropriate for you? Yes, if it's an option you can turn on, then it's ok, but not on by default.
It seems google is more and more deciding whats good and whats bad, all they really should do is create a browser that does what the website asks it to do and not decide to do something else.
The driver of the Tesla already had shown irresponsible behaviour on youtube when using his Tesla, so it all was the drivers fault, not Tesla. You cannot do anything against stupidity.
So he needed 6 months extra to write a completely crap script.... oh dear that doesn't bode well for the next installment. Hopefully this time it actually get's a good script which also fits better to the original trilogy and prequels as TFA was just awful storywise (yes it had some nice effects and scenese, but story/scriptwise it was utter crap).
You can't stop progress, robots are so much better and cheaper (in the end) than using humans for a lot of things (especially factory/warehouse stuff). Even the people in those little cloting sweatshops will be replaced with robots, just now they have a robot that can actually do their work much faster and much more precise.. So we have to deal with it, as many people will loose their jobs to robots and AI (yes even officejobs will be replaced). With the current rate of automation we are actually already to late do handle the loss of jobs and how to figure out how we could give those people a better live. So we need to act real fast as the current system just won't hold for very long. How to solve it? I don't know, but I do know it needs to be dealt with very soon.
If it can be flown from the ground, why can't it be flown from the station itself, especially by computersystems.. even if the station is old, it would be no biggy to update the system so it can be automatically flown..
Well, i can imagine his fear for merging, as i have already heard/seen a lot of problems with it with a lot of people. Best is to avoid needing to merge.
Well, the problem is not really Roku, it's the mexican judge that blocked the selling of their devices due to easily being able to watch illegal content. By doing this, they can sell their device again. In reality, the order of the judge has also implications for any android or whatever OS based mediastreamer which let's you easily be able to watch illegal content..
Is it their budget only for content creation, or is it the budget for content creation AND buying licenses for 'old' content. To me, Netflix is going in the wrong direction, it was a good idea of having all old series (and movies) in one place, but now they are becoming more and more a boring content creater like any other network and we still can't see all the great series from the past which are a lot of times much better than the crap that's put out today.
You really don't believe MoviePass isn't making money with their service? And you do know the reason why concessions have high prices in theatre do you? It's because THAT's what they actually make money on, not on the ticket as at least the first couple of weeks most goes to the distributor of the movie, not the theatre itself.
So what does MoviePass give me what the chain's own pass doesn't? It restricts me to 1 movie a day and especially with a movie pass I do see 2 movies back to back a lot of times.. And all the negatives you mention are also with MoviePass, as it will get you into theatres making you buy food etc.
Most of the cinema chains already have a moviepass which is about 1.5 the price of a ticket, and it has no restrictions on how many times a day and it even comes with a discount on food and beverages..
Why hasn't our species heard from other intelligent civilizations elsewhere in the universe?
Who says our species hasn't heard from other intelligent civilizations? Let's face it, we propably already heard from them a long time, but out goverments are not telling us that. Why? To prevent mass hysteria, you have to get such a big civilization ready for the idea of extra terrestial life, that's why we now get simple news like 'maybe there are microbes on europe', and we'll get more and more news about planets like earth found in distance galaxies. This will ease people into believing there might be others out there, and once people get there they will say they found a real signal, and from that it will grow and grow until they show them.
It's simple psychology, for a large group of people the shock would be too big (let's not forget most religion doesn't account for visitors from outer space and even deny it)
Claims of a pending AI apocalypse come almost exclusively from the ranks of individuals such as Musk, Hawking, and Bostrom who possess no formal training in the field...
Sorry but I think Musk and Hawking really know what they are talking about, they aren't dumb and at least Musk has seen very advanced development in AI in secret labs.
They have much more insight into advanced developments (and connections) than some law professor has.
And advanced AI can learn much faster than any human ever possibly can. Normally a lot of those are trained only in specific fields, but we already know AI can surpas human thinking quite fast.
This really isn't a phone, because what they forget to mention is that this is actually nothing more than the 'receiver' (as in microphone/headphone), it has a basestation that does the actual digitizing and has the rest of the phoneparts (it's not even to be compared to a DECT handset and it's basestation), which ofcourse drinks it's juice from the wallplug.
ISIS isn't a country. But if they can create them then why shouldn't they be able to have them.. (mind you, it doesn't mean I think they should have them, NOBODY should have nuclear weapons).
Yeah, I know about the treaty, but the US is still creating new and better nuclear weapons instead of removing them all.. And the US is the only country in the world ever to have (unnecessary) used atomic weapons, so if there is one country that should not have anything to say about others, it's the US..

but you take alt-right people serious? (just like you should also not take lefties serious btw).
yes it let's you disable it, but it doesn't let you reassign it.. how stupid is that....

How about remaking all wing commanders with the new engines. that would be awesom..
Well, i can imagine his fear for merging, as i have already heard/seen a lot of problems with it with a lot of people. Best is to avoid needing to merge.
I know they are a separate service, but that service has to make money somehow, nothing comes for free or that cheap.

Well in the Netherlands with Pathe and Vue cinema's (maybe even more), should have thought that other chains in the US would also have such a thing.
