    No it didn't. Read the article again. The cartridge expires 4 1/2 years from the date of manuafacture OR 30 months after it's been installed in a printer, whichever comes first.

    One of the links from a previous /. story pointed out that the Columbia was in a lower orbit than the ISS and did not have enough fuel to reach it.

    I think the biggest deal is the fact that teh rings are facing towards us more than they usually do. I was able to see the rings last night with a simple little telescope (not sure what the magnification was). It was pretty darn cool.

    Mozilla/Netscape 7 has form management features built-in, but most people don't know about it because it's stupidly buried under the Tools menu.

    It's under "Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Forms" as well as the "Tools -> Form Manager" menu in Mozilla 1.2.1 on both Win2k and OS X.

    I've been using PopTray (a POP3 email checker for Windows). You have the option of defining "rules" which allow you to delete emails server-side.

    It's not a "smart filter" but it works fine for me.

    The government knows that you have voted (it is required) once. (see above: ID-reg)

    They know you voted because you showed them your ID and they probably checked off your name on a list. The card is then probably just pulled randomly out of a box and given to the voter. Perhaps the parent poster would like to clarify?

    The "powerless employees working for minimum wage" are getting paid to restock these items. Any manager that's worth a damn will become concerned when many of their employees are having to spend time restocking attempted purchases, thus lowering the profitablity of the store.

    ...as under US law, you'd only be liable for up to $50 of the purchases...

    Many cards now have $0 liability (such as my Citibank card). Anyone with the standard $50 liability may want to consider getting a new credit card.

    Don't get your panties in a knot...

    I was under the impression the FCC wanted to mandate a switch to digital TV just for the heck of it. As I just learned from this page (among others), replacing analog broadcast TV with digital broadcast TV will free up a lot of spectrum. (Analog uses 54 to 806 MHz, not sure what digital would use)

    You're skirting the issue. Yes, the FCC would have to approve digital TVs. But they don't have to force them upon the public.
