The OP had nothing to do with using planes as weapons. It was about hijacking. And in all but one case in the history of aviation, hijacking has been about (a) getting some political deal such as prisoner release or (b) going somewhere. Hence the statement that locking the pilot away will prevent hijacking is complete BS.
Tim Berners Lee did more than develop the first hypertext server, he invented HTML and HTTP. And yes, he is British, and he was working at CERN (a european physics research org) at the time.
Assuming communication is possible between the two compartments (which from a practical point of view it must) - how does that help? Hijacker grabs five passengers (or better yet, crew), points gun at them, tells pilot to land in Havanna or they all die. What does the pilot do? I think he flies to Cuba, et voila, one hijacked plane.
It is lightweight. No one is forcing you to install the toolbar - if you don't want it, don't install it. Why do you care that I have the choice to install software I want?
The lack of google toolbar was one of the things which kept me using IE for the longest time, until googlebar came along. If you think that search is all the google toolbar does, you really haven't used it.
I have googlebar installed on firefox - the number one reason is the way it creates a button for each search term to let you jump straight to that word on the page. No other search tool I'm aware of does that as nicely (though I'm happy to be proven wrong).
Maybe you need to switch networks. My Cingular handsets have all been cripple-free. My current Nokia 6230 allows me to upload ringtones, graphincs, games and other java apps via bluetooth. I can't get rid of the Cingular logo but that's about it.
I use a regular Vonage hookup with their Motorola SIP adapter. I typically call people on regular POTS phones and they have no idea I'm on VOIP, the line quality is just as good as normal (in fact, I'd say it was better).
I'm using Vonage on a regular cable connection and have done so for nearly a year. No outages, no call problems, better sound quality than my old Verizon POTS line, and a third of the price. I will NEVER use a traditional phone company again.
If I find a law tolerable, I tolerate it. If I find it untolerable, I ignore it. In other words, you do what the hell you like, and if it happens to be legal, well, that's just lovely.
Don't dress selfishness up as something grander than it really is.
I used to use Scan years ago, back before they had a website and just advertised in micromart. They were scammers then and I'm sure they still are. Had to threaten legal action to get a mobo they took payment for but never shipped.
I'll give you sticky notes, but there are a million sticky note apps, or you could just keep a pad of notes on your desk:)
For the others, let's see, 5 day forecast. Oh yes, right there on my browser toolbar thanks to forecast fox. Calculator - I have a choice. Click the calculator icon on my start bar, or press the calculator button on my keyboard. For simple math I could even type the expression right into my search box and let google handle it. Games? I have plenty right here on my start menu thanks.
I'm sorry, I've played with dashboard, and while, yes it's very pretty, it also strikes me as utterly redundant.
How about the fact that in Windows you only have one command line interpreter? My bash shell must be a figment of my imagination.
And cmd.exe can't even copy/paste like a normal app.
cmd.exe doesn't map ctrl-c to copy because ctrl-c is a common shortcut for quit for cli apps, just as in unix land. You can still copy & paste just fine, but with different keys, or the mouse.
And if you don't like it, there are plenty of extensions to it....Hell, windows doesn't even have hot corners.
Guess what! Windows has extensions too. Googling found me these:
The standard penalty for murder in the UK is life in prison, which usually (with parole) works out at 15-20 years or thereabouts. In the US, it can be a longer jail term, or sometimes, death. The murder rate in the US is higher than the UK, which suggests that higher penalties don't work (or of course that there is another, more important factor in this case).
LCDs don't have a refresh rate, well not in the same sense as a CRT does anyway. That's why I like them so much, no flicker - a 100% stable image. Much kinder to the eyes.
LCDs also tend to look very bad if you don't use the exact resolution they expect, which doesn't tend to be what I want
I guess that's the reason I don't have an iPod, I don't need a gadget to help me get dates. I use a DAP to listen to music, my Rio is the best available w.r.t my needs. I couldn't care less what other people think of it.
About $120-$130, if it didn't come included with a PC. So limited support for ~$100 or full support (including graphics & sound card drivers) for 20% more? Not a tough choice.
Agree with everything you say, apart from the fact you seem to be equating MIDI with samples, which is most certainly not the case. For example:
This is something that can't be done in MIDI without special samples,
Or a square wave generator.
MIDI doesn't control how a performance sounds, that's the instruments. As an extreme example, I'm sure you could MIDI retrofit a NES, then you could have exactly the same sound, but from MIDI.
I'd strongly recommend a squeezebox over the soundbridge. Better support (particularly if you want to use slimserver, which is a slimdevices product just like the squeezebox), better product (IMHO). Same price (roughly).

Yeah, because choice is a bad thing. Sheesh.

All well and good, but some of us don't live with our parents and need to pay rent or a mortgage. So the "not having a job" is not really an option.
ZZZ are great, I usually use them now rather than newegg who are getting expensive, particularly on shipping.

"Candy Bar" is the term used in the industry for phones which don't fold or bend or twist or anything else, like most Nokias.
The refresh rate is horrible,
:)

A lot of computers are still ugly white rectangles
And Apple will fix this how?
Err....informative?
:)
Some people need to get out more
You wouldn't want dozens of overweight geeks hitting on you constantly for the next few days :)
Who said being an overweight geek was limited to the male of the species? Obviously someone who's never been to GenCon!
