And to anyone complaining about having to dance through proxies to watch Hulu internationally, it's for the same reasons. What benefit does Charmin see from advertising toilet paper to people in the Netherlands?
This is where the MBA and Marketing guys are falling down on the job. They should be selling regional ads for international viewers... instead of Charmin, they could sell Nokia ads for Dutch viewers, Weetabix in the UK, and Nutella in Italy, etc...
This sounds inherently stupid. How many people send an e-mail, just to think: "oh no!" 2 - 4 seconds later.
*Sheepishly raises hand* Those darned reply and reply all buttons are too close together and graphically and semantically. Someone needs to come up with a term for "reply all" that does not have the word: "reply" in it.

Uhh, last I checked Canonical hasn't actually turned a profit yet. Its just being funded by someone who has very deep pockets. It could be years before he recovers his investment, if it ever happens.
I've always wondered why Canonical does not get into the hardware game. The only way I see the linux consumer market taking off is for someone to take the Apple model and make the hardware/OS product one-in-the-same, easy to use, and fashionable. If someone made a killer lap top with a linix install that had all of the multi-media and communication apps working perfectly from the time you first power up, it would be a great alternative to Windows.
But it should be pointed out that/. tends to mention the Party of a wrongdoer if the wrongdoer is Republican, and omit it if he's a Democrat.
You must be new here./. is full of Liberation engineers and IT industry protectionists. Neither of which really have a home in the US two party system. You might confuse the trend in the last 8 years of Bush bashing with Democratic leaning, but it was actually just a low tolerance for idiocy. Rest assured, the idiots in the current majority party will also be called out.
Mod parent up. Nothing is more annoying than grandma over on first base b!tching at me because I refuse to split aces against a 10. It's not my fault you're losing your social security check.
If I were the board, I'd make Ives a figurehead CEO, and put him in charge of the strategic direction of the company with regards to meeting consumer demands, and put in a strong CFO/COO to manage the business.
I would take it a step further and allow local governments to lay the lines. We have public highways and roads. Why can't we have public fiber? I'm sure they could have some type of usage tax structure where the ISPs rent the public fiber and re-sell it.
MOD parent up. In US urban areas, a lot of this activity is done by drug addicts. This is more of a sign of the break down in community vs. individualistic values than a sign of income disparities.
I use chrome for web apps like pandora, gmail and google reader. The application shortcut feature works nicely for these; it gives you the web app in an window without all the browser navigation crap.
This looks like a very promising App. As a student, we are assigned group assignments which often involve a partner and an essay. It's always stressful to try and edit our assignments together because it involves emailing it every time we make a correction. This would completely eliminate that frustration, can't wait until this comes out!
I completely agree. Google docs is not used in the same instances as OOo. We use Google in the initial stages of group writing projects - its great for version tracking, and providing a group space for a team. Once the text is written, we use other applications to make it pretty.
So you're saying that a person cannot go to a higher bidder if demand/pay for their services is higher than what they are currently being offered?
Not if they want to work for me. If you don't like non-competes, don't work somewhere that requires you to sign one. Capitalism is about making trade-offs.
Of course. This is a fuzzy area of demography and survey research.
The range would be between 59% (if all self-identified Hispanic or Latino considered themselves white in the interviews) and 74% (if none of self-identified Hispanic or Latino considered themselves white)
Nonetheless, 66% is still more than the "majority" cited by the GP.
I never voted for Bush." But 51% of them must be lying, right?
39% are lying about whether they voted at all. Only about 32% of eligible voters voted for Bush ( 51% of 61% of eligible voter turn out). But, that's beside the point. I was not refuting our responsibility as citizens to elect public servants who represent our views. I was pointing out that your characterizations of Americans' "tendency to view everything 'religiously' rather than empirically," was depicting a small (although, over represented in the media) sliver of the American public.

On the left: We must win on the merit of our social ideas.
LOL. While I admire progressive idealists in the Democratic party, Democrats have a long tradition of winning by any means necessary.

And it's not? I mean, what good has humanity done for anything else other than itself?
What good has any other species on Earth done for anything other then itself?
Most bacteria in your G.I. tract, bees, Penicillium fungi, I'm sure you can come up with many others.
How did this get modded as a troll?

Hulu seem to be quite resistant to naming them.
Time Warner, Cox, Comcast, RCN...

Too bad the censor all CHANGE.GOV suggestions related to a re-opened examination of the 9/11 Commission report
That's because 9/11 wasn't an inside job, and Obama's staff don't want to lower themselves to wading in the world of truther nutjobs.
I saw a couple questions about that, but rated them , "meh"
I live in Indianapolis... Companies, even if they have a monopoly granted by the government, are much better at this than a government will ever be.
I think your problem is that you live in Indianapolis, not government incompetence.

I didn't know there was a "-1 Disagree" option.

We use Google docs for this.
Yawn... You're post is sooooo pre-11/4/08. Welcome to the new world order.
When did "American" become a lifestyle rather than a place of birth?
Possibly, because the "American" label is not limited to people born here?

Guess what? Whites are no longer a majority in this country. (IE: Less than 50% of the population).
Whites make up 74% of the US population according to the Census Bureau .
