Do you think this might be something that could finally spur the cable providers to look at a la carte a bit more seriously? If streaming options become robust enough we could see the end of the need for traditional providers and their tiered system of providing crap we don't want. Assuming net neutrality doesn't become an issue they'll will have to make changes to compete.
According to the article the last time the EU/EC contravened a takeover was when they denied General Electric's takeover of Honeywell in 2001. I'd hardly call two denials in a decade a reputation for disagreeing with the US on these matters.
Apple may not own a vast majority of the computer market but they own enough to be important. Linux may still be considered a niche market but it has been around long enough prove its viability. Why then, are we still dealing with Windows-only services? Even if I didn't use Linux I'd be less inclined to use a service that insists on eliminating options by default.
Probably because even when talking in front of Congress, hackers are going to prone to puffing their chests out in order to make themselves seem more 1337 than the next group.
I love how people like to cite this as a means to insult Boston and its citizens. Because, ya know, *everyone* knows who the Mooninites are and should just assume that unidentifiable objects with their likenesses are all safe and fluffy. And god forbid the city from where flights of 9/11 took off be fucking paranoid of something like that happening again.
You can embed CSS in HTML pages; that should do what you want, if you have another way of dividing up the right amount of information per page.
Please don't encourage people to do things the wrong way. Stylesheets are for style and markup is for content. Style should only be applied as attributes using the stylesheet definitions. Encouraging people to embed their style in their markup is a step backward.
But that's why he didn't say "Linux". He said, "Linux Desktop", which I take to mean the entire software ecosystem based on Linux on a user's desktop.
Not to mention the fact that like many other things, the public at large isn't concerned about semantics. We who are more familiar with the history and foundation of Linux can easily differentiate between Linux the kernel and Linux the overarching paradigm. Others simply don't care. They hear what the media tells them and that's all they are concerned about. And honestly, that's all they need to be concerned about. Let the developers and technologists worry about semantics. If we all did that in the first place the Linux Desktop might have actually caught on a long time ago. Instead, too many people are too concerned about maintaining the geek cred.
I guess the question might be is if the document is that important and wiki leaks has it, in order to drum up the attention and/or scrutiny it should have, someone is going to have to link to it. Do you think the hassle he is attempting to avoid would still be there?
I imagine the person/group requesting he host the doc on his servers would be linking to it themselves. If it is on Wikileaks and not his server he's removed himself from that conflict. In fact, the people making the request can put it on Wikileaks themselves removing him from the equation entirely.
Actually, to me it sounds more like confidence than desperation. They are expecting people to go out and pay for it AFTER using it for a year and deciding if they like it or not.
Microsoft taking the shareware approach? Possibly.
I haven't seen the Lynch movie and based on the images I've seen I doubt I ever will. I only hope they don't use 3D as a gimmick.

and the normal see-through ones for windows
Or they can use all the unsold copies of ME

Everyone knows the time traveler's objective in going back in time is not to kill his own grandfather, but rather to BECOME his own grandfather.
Indeed. The goal is to do the nasty in the pasty.
Exactly, nothing beats having them do something fun with you, before you something else that's also fun.
Like playing Japanese dating sims?
Well, there certainly would be a "surge". Perhaps to new highs but I'm sure just to average highs.

Seconded. This is the sort of custom application that XML was created for.
Have I got a story for you!
Neat, let me try a longer one. ********
That one is definitely harder.

I think you're getting too caught up in the nature of humans. People tend to elaborate on stories especially when such surprising events occur.
Looks like I'll be looking elsewhere when I buy a netbook.

Exactly. Wikileaks is the premier inflammatory doc hosting site out there.
There is a system for subverting the system and you should use that system!
Systematically!
The only thing that was implied is that he'd like to use the components on different platforms. There was no mention of monetary compensation.
...an optimus discovery.
For starters, stop posting as AC and get yourself some mod points.
8/ Profit?
That would be 9/
8/???
