* Remember, they are currently working on incrementing their version number as fast as they think they can get away with.
Really?
IE 6 was released on August 27, 2001
IE 7 was released on October 18, 2006
IE 8 was released on March 19, 2009
OTOH
Firefox 1 was released on November 9, 2004
Firefox 2 was released on October 24, 2006
Firefox 3 was released on June 17, 2008
Firefox 4 is dated for October - November 2010
From where I see it the release schedule of Firefox is incrementing the version number far more frequently. And besides, who cares? There's some amazing 0.99 version software and some amazing 10.5 version software. Don't hate on IE just for hating.
The evidence gathered during the investigation leads the Commission to believe that the tying of Internet Explorer with Windows, which makes Internet Explorer available on 90% of the world's PCs, distorts competition on the merits between competing web browsers insofar as it provides Internet Explorer with an artificial distribution advantage which other web browsers are unable to match. The Commission is concerned that through the tying, Microsoft shields Internet Explorer from head to head competition with other browsers which is detrimental to the pace of product innovation and to the quality of products which consumers ultimately obtain. In addition, the Commission is concerned that the ubiquity of Internet Explorer creates artificial incentives for content providers and software developers to design websites or software primarily for Internet Explorer which ultimately risks undermining competition and innovation in the provision of services to consumers.
So it is basically that Microsoft is using Windows as an unfair way to distribute explorer thus gaining a very big advantage over its competitors, thus gaining more developers who only develop for IE (it has the biggest chunk of the market so it must be where the money is), thus forcing more users to use IE because applications only work for it, etc.
There are maybe (if you're optimistic) 20 good titles for the Wii, out of a selection of well over 300. Similar ratios exist for the other consoles (hell, there are maybe 5 good games for the PS3 at best).
According to Game Rankings, there are 7 Wii titles with a score of 90 or greater, and 22 PS3 titles with a score of 90 or greater.
For example, one of the well-spoken, polite and reasonable things they teach us is to swear in our nick name: FuckingNickName. Carefully controlling what I would have thought is uncontrollable.
Curiously I just realized that this masterpiece existed yesterday. The Nostalgia Critic sort of promised to review it next week in his He-Man and She-Ra review and I had to Google it to see if it really happened.
To think I used to think of myself as a Star Wars nerd...:(
I think the important question is "how much are the customers willing to pay" and from the number of Windows computers I see everywhere, I would guess whatever they are charging now is aligned to whatever amount customers are willing to pay.
I agree 30x can be greater than 100y for large values of x, but I don't see that many users buying more copies of Windows if it was cheaper and I see tons of companies paying much less (and I would guess Microsoft is making a ton of money from big companies).
Another way to see it: Microsoft would require to more than triple its user base in order to offset the 70% drop in price. They would need even more users in order to "make huge gains" and I quite simply don't see that happening.
And I also think most browsers won't paint a page unless it has been completely loaded. I remember setting a special flag in Firefox a few years back to start drawing as soon as possible.
I have bad karma but I still get the button to disable Ads, I got it after one of my comments was modded +1, so I figured it was given to anyone who had made at least one useful comment.
The unexciting news is that we are all still here, and (barring a meteor strike) we will still be here when the LHC reaches 7.5TeV very late next year.

Because... as we all know, dolphins are the new panic button.
Have you looked at the syntax of Perl and Ruby? The vast similarities should be pretty clear to everyone but the stupidest of mental retards. Look at some Perl code, then look at some Ruby code, and if you honestly can't see the similarity for yourself, then fuck off.
For example, they both use letters AND numbers. The similarities are endless!!!
I don't understand how it is "far more extraordinary" to build an open source project and oversee it for many years than it is to create one of the most successful businesses in the world and oversee it for many years.
Perhaps Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are not technical gurus like Linus, but they have done some extraordinary stuff in their lives.
If Walmart's price is $5.00 and Competitor's price is $6.00, we could say that Walmart is paying me $1.00 not to shop at their competitors so they can build market share. And they do.
I still stand by my argument that it is the same thing but with a different light.
In closing, you sir, are either entirely delusional or a complete twit. If you would let me know which of those categories you fall into, I would appreciate it. Thank you.
It is sad and pathetic that the United States popular culture portrays any foreign culture as a vulgarcaricature, but americans feel outrage when a character from 1960's mexican comics does the exact same thing.

In Firefox I get a page telling me to use the Windows Update program in my start menu.

And really, how many people know it today? When I read stuff like this I seriously doubt people today understand how privacy works.

So it seems they are waiting for late next year.
There's even an OS written entirely in Assembler, fits on a 1.4MB floppy, and does pretty much everything Windows does
Crash? Display my windows in small semi-transparent thumbnails? Automagically configure ad-hoc wireless networks?

CNETNate would like to remind you that this CNET article is not an advertisement, it really is news for nerds and stuff that matters.

You mean this is might not be the year of Linux on the desktop? :'(
SNES!
I prefer KDE 6.9, it's more sexy.
But you should see how great those 10 pages look on a mobile browser!

1. Ok, lets compare to cartoons from the 60's
2. I know, that's what I said
3. Yeah, because modern TV does not have stupid stereotypes...
