Because I'm typing this on a legal XP box that has never failed on me in the 3 years I've owned and upgraded it. Because this is the first time I've ever experienced this on XBLive and I've been playing since Halo 2 was released. My Xbox red-ringed last year. Without a penny paid they shipped me a box in 2 days, and I had a working Xbox in 5 business days. Did it suck? Yep, but they took care of it as they will (and are) this. If people really needed the entertainment THAT BAD then they should have maybe played a card game with their parents. This lawsuit is dumb.
Aw that sucks. I had an amazing physics class. I took it my junior year (everyone else was a senior) and as a result I actually went to college for physics. I had the type of teacher that would take the Van der Graaf generator and hook it to the doorknob. He'd turn it on when class started so that the jocks that always showed up late would get shocked trying the door. They always knocked after that!
Oh, and one time a couple buddies of mine and I stole this machine out of his supply closet that could pump out thousands of dime-sized bubbles in minutes. The bubbles were perfectly buoyant in air (didn't rise or sink, just sat where you put them. Technically they rose very slowly but the air currents in the room generally moved them more.) We filled the room the night before our teachers birthday. Somehow, weeks later, he caught wind that it was us. He got a janitor to break into our lockers and completely filled them with confetti-style shredded paper (a PAIN to remove, there were still little static-clinging pieces floating around my locker through the end of the year.)
I know that it is going to change, and soon I'm thinking, but if you notice the pattern...they write something slightly relevant, then provide a link to ripway, contactlog, dwarfurl, xrl.com, etc...
More than that, I don't understand why completely useless posts can't be deleted. I know the philosophy is that "why post if it can't be permanent?" but that's more about forcing people to THINK before they post. That implies relevancy to said posts, and that's simply not the case anymore. If a post is simply spam or something completely unrelated to the topic, how is it relevant, and moreso, how does it add to the conversation? I think a lot of people would stop wasting their time if there were a little more moderation than simply a label, but hey, that's just one man's opinions. BTW, I know this will be modded off-topic but at the same time: is it really...?
Oh man I used to throw my 64 controllers in hissy fits of rage. Whoever the fuck had to play as Oddjob every god damn time was nothing short of a cheater! (Yes, the pun was intended!)
Hmmm now you have me thinking. I've had 2 banks where this happened to me. Actually, no, a bank and a credit union. The Bank gave me a HUGE hassle, I'd purchased a few things online in the months before and then over a 2 day period someone with my card number purchased over 800$ worth of things online. They never called me, I had to call my bank on it. They made me pay for a replacement card and ALMOST had me convinced that I had to buy some sort of insurance if I wanted to get reimbursed (scammy, eh?) Turns out the insurance isn't mandatory, it's just like a VIP club for those who apparently have this happen to them often.
The Credit Union? They called me, they stopped my card instantly, they sent me a new one (I just had to fax my signature.) They even opened a police report in L.A. where the perp lived (dumbass used the number to buy gas in a few different stations.)
He was never caught but let's just say the bank no longer has my business.
Eh I meant insulated, and it really doesn't matter whether it's insulated or not. I just figured I'd make a joke and at the time was drawing from what I'd remembered about making an electromagnet in 5th grade.
True story, I used to own a business where I would field off-hours calls from home users (generally not businesses.) I also made house visits off hours too. I was a teen with a car and could undercut everyone in town. This was one of my FIRST calls:
Me: Thanks for calling, how can I help?
Her: My computer won't turn on!
Me: Alright, can you do me a favor and check to see that the cable is plugged into the computer? [20 seconds later]
Me: Good, we've established that! Now, can you follow the cord to ensure it's plugged into an outlet? [20 seconds later]
Her: Yeah, it's plugged right into the desk!
Me: The desk? Do you have a power strip?
Her: Yeah, I can wheel this desk around, it's so convenient I can take it all around the house! [at this point I'm pondering...]
Me: What's the power strip on the desk plugged into? [20 seconds later]
Her: You mean the desk? It came with it's own outlet!
Yes folks, this lady had successfully plugged her power strip into itself! I tried a snarky comment on how if you removed the shielding on the wire and ran a magnet REALLY fast...didn't seem to catch on. I don't think she was the technical type!
hey I really wouldn't mind discussing this, because my argument is that it's all fine and good that it's FREE, but that the fact it IS hard is what doesn't help anyone. If you want to continue this feel free to send me your email: beckerist.com/contact and I will respond!
and would a wide-open network equate to anarchy? would a game like this promote funking around with your router for a different experience? is this actually promoting bad security?!
That's my point. It IS hard to use, yet people still download and install it all the time. The marketing is doing its job, that has nothing to do with usability.
The question of whether someone will stick around long enough to learn the software is less one of usability than it is one of marketability. If they have the software downloaded and installed, the software was successfully marketed. If they don't stick around to use the software then that's a lack of usability. Blender has never kept me at my desk for more than a few minutes every time I've tried it. As far as me WANTING to know it, the desire is high (therefore it has been marketed properly.) The usability still sucks.
Yep. Also a little thing known as privacy laws that make it a TINY bit illegal to mess around with health care records.
Who doesn't want free advertising? Any good webmaster knows how to work Google at least a LITTLE...are we all crooks now?

Despite all the fun, we really did learn too!
LOL! Inciteful? Insightful?! Eh, Slashdot(ians) you amuse me.
Wal-mart is successful because it has a very efficient method of physical distribution. This has no baring on their success in digital distribution.
Or mind altering drugs. I never understood it either, why not enjoy EVERYTHING? Is it that ingrained in our psyche to HAVE to compete?
Yay for the PS3 to get a cool new feature. The end! (See, it's not that hard!)

Oh I already run a service like that.
Meet me in the back alley with a pocket full of cash and your laptop. I promise no one will hear a thing!
So, is one who doesn't report a crime a criminal themselves? I mean strictly legally, not morally.

Wow, even you were wrong: Correction V2.0
You mean that you're A skint, and you're using this as an excuse to teach them about money.
And this is a broad statement, but I find those people who have English as a second language generally have better grammar than I do...
On the nosey!

An eye for an eye...
