I'm 42 and think that's not only old fashioned but downright archaic; I get *more* done and work longer hours when I don't have the Drive From Hell here in DC.
sorry all, I'm 42 and *never* learned how to write in cursive. I honestly don't remember how I avoided it but since I type almost everything, there hasn't been a need to use it in over 25 years. When I do handwritten notes, they are in block lettering.
This shift from 'blue-collar IT to white-collar IT'...
I don't think anyone, anywhere, ever, has considered an IT worker 'blue collar'.
Yes, Blue collar; The fathers of the guys I grew up with all worked in the steel mill and most of us now work in IT.
The day to day grunt work in IT is, in truth, blue collar work. (When you can get your CCNA in a week - it's for the masses)
Now when we get to network architecture and design and Sr. level engineering, we're talking about folks who got beyond watching the glass and make substantially more than our parents. I call that more gray collar than white since most of us manage our projects and don't usually supervise people.
Electronic means = phone, text, web, fax.
You say the president sucks 3 times in a row on any one or combination of those formats and it's off to the pokey.
People thought dissent was crushed under Bush ain't seen the dark end of this particular dungeon yet.
..for now.
What if you decide that a certain political candidate just sucked as a human being and you blogged your opinions and rants about their performance? If they are an incumbent, you can bet your latte-drinking self that you'd get slapped with this in a heartbeat.
This could very, very easily be used as a tool to discourage dissent.
I said get rid of the unions - and the typical protectionism that they engender - and hire teachers that are considered excellent via peer review and by parental twice a year review.
The teachers who fail the review of parents and their peers are quickly given the door.
Note: Extreme in my book is mandatory execution for all union leaders and activists as economic terrorists, so I wasn't being extreme in this case.
He got a fair trial for a despot under Iraqi law - Saddam was tried under their law and found guilty and executed.
He got off easier than many of his victims.
Are you advocating he shouldn't have been tried?
I suspect you've never had any respect for the US military; making him watch South Park is hardly torture.
Now, reading posts from people who've never left the confines of their well-decorated townhouses and have never set foot in a combat zone much less have to actually face the enemy - that is torture.
BTW, have you written the Obama Administration to say you want to be part of their 'Adopt a Guantanamo Prisoner Program'? Once the guy is released, you become their caretaker for 5 years - you house them, feed them, and pretty make sure they don't slaughter your family, kill your friends, or attack the US all over again.
I think that every person who called for Gitmo to be closed should participate - put YOUR life and the lives of your friends and family where your mouth is!
The UK outlawed the ability of it's own citizens to defend themselves and therefore made sheep out of men and helpless herds for the wolves of society.
Taxing video games won't solve the issues resulting from British societal suicide; allowing folks to defend themselves would be a significant step towards leveling the playing field. Most criminals have a sense of self-preservation and won't attack someone if they think they can actually defend themselves - and that the law would be on the defenders side.
If they are going to tax, make it so the money goes to training folks how to protect themselves and giving them the means to do so!!
2 days to say "Oh shit!" "I love you!" and "Goodbye" is what it could have been if this was something much bigger and closer. How the heck do we detect something in that circumstance and do we say anything if we do?
The game is great - right until you get to the end and then.... it just sucks.:/
You're stopped like 0 degrees Kelvin and game over. No more exploration, no more quests, no anything except a slide show for an ending.
After a full weekend of Fallout 3 where I completed the main quest line, I have to say that Fallout 3 is a universe prime for an MMO.
The game struck me as an MMO that was changed almost at last minute to a single-player game; the size of the map was pretty much a full MMO zone and the scope of the game was truly epic when you incorporated the side-quests and exploration.
This deserves to be shared with everyone!
"Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Messiah."
I think it's more appropriate than most folks are really willing to admit; Bush and Co opened the door to expanded and tyrannical government and I suspect that an Obama presidency and a truly Liberal House and Senate will put the icing on the cake with real, old-fashioned, historical National Socialism.
We already live in an era where criticism of one of the candidates leads Americans to call other Americans 'racists' or 'Fascists' or be shouted down simply for merely questioning the veracity and qualifications of a candidate who has been treated with kid gloves and, for better or for worse, looks like he's been given a free pass into the White House.
For folks of an Independent mindset, we don't really have much of a choice here; we can have Bush III or we can have National Socialism. Either way, we're f**ked. At least with Bush III, I'd be able to keep my guns and not have to worry about breaking the law; under an Obamanation, I couldn't legally keep guns while I prepare to fight off the Brownshirts.
No, sadly, the Party of Lincoln has abandoned it's principles and driven many true Conservatives out to the edge as Independents.
I'd like to point to one party of another but the decrease in personal liberties has been on a down slide for over 20 years now.
All must bow to thier Chinese masters!!
Well, it worked for the French in WWII! :)
they've stolen everything else from Apple, why should employees be any different??

She was a dead ringer for Bastinda!
I am amazed at how accurate Fallen Earth is starting to become...

Get rid of the unions and open teaching to folks who would get paid on their performance. (GASP!)

Are they now going to get the trainers for the armpit dogs from the old DDR? WTF?

Hitler - another of the Socialist breed - wanted and got change, too. Seems that didn't work out so well, either.

Frankly unless you're up for management I don't see a need for a degree.
The game is great - right until you get to the end and then.... it just sucks. :/

Will it play World of Warcraft?

Somehow I don't see Cisco doing this; their DoD and USG presence would preclude them to allowing that kind of backdoor penetration.
