    I have never encountered a Dell machine that Linux didn't work on. So I don't see the point of this whole exercise.

    Well, even if Ubuntu was installed properly I would still wipe it and install Fedora. So I could just as well save the $50 with the Windoze version and spend the dough on something else.

    You need to eradicate the ambiguity. You could do like Codeweavers/RedHat do and use a completely different brand name for the supported version (Crossover/Enterprise) vs the free version (Wine/Fedora).

    My Mother in Law, had very limited schooling, but ran a butcher shop all her life. At 67 years, she had no problem at all with Linux, Firefox, Facebook and Skype.

    Most geeks here never used Visicalc. I find it amusing that it still ran on WinXP - I tried it. I don't know about newer versions of Windows. Visicalc was amazingly simple and clunky. I find it hard to believe that I actually used it on an Apple II and thought that it was great.
