Ah, but most people don't read email using a client, they use a browser and a html frontend provided by their service (gmail, yahoo, msn) in which case the browser will run javascript.
Why not put solar panels over the paths, turn it into a covered walkway, I get to walk in the shade and you get your energy, sounds like a win win to me.
It's like a university putting solar panels over their parking lots, they get a lot of power and people get to park in the shade. Makes everybody happier.
Except international airlines don't rely on gps, a lot don't even use it, due to the risk of selective availability. Don't know about ships, but I'm pretty sure there are other ship navigation systems in place. It is a very probably thing for the US to do and we have done it before.
I just don't get the tv/movie based games, my favorite machine was firepower, really nice play and before some of the weirder bells and whistles.
I also find fixing the game to be part of the fun, especially when the only service manual you have is for a different game that is closely related. Always check the connectors first, tin on tin, wonderful stuff, but the game is great.
satellite phones aren't exactly gonna work, the satelite phone system IRC is still based on the land line system and land based stations to work properly (the better to bill you my precious) little nextel cell walkie talkies ain't gonna cut it either if the base it out, the other problem is that when a disaster occurs and cell phones do work everybody and his great aunt starts calling their dog to tell them they're fine, system gets overloaded
2m and 440 don't need any infrastructure, 10 and 20 meters are still there, I have backup power for my transmitter that will last for hours of transmit, and I have a crow bar that would work great for extracting car batteries
agreed, a small protable machine running something lightweight (not vista) is great for getting things done when you don't have access to a desktop, or when a larger laptop doesn't make sense, it doesn't take a powerhouse for a few ssh sessions or lightweight text editors
true it can't keep up with bigger laptops, but it isn't really designed to
no special equipment required, you just have to know what you're doing, i do smt work on old equipment never really meant for smt work, but i've been doing it for more than half my life

Except in a proximity fuse it only has to work once, and if it doesn't work it blows up anyway when it hits something. Not exactly a good comparison.
the two finger scrolling and right click feature has been around since the powerbook g4's and even in some of the later ibook g4's
