I like Opera's unique features; sadly it can be a bitch to get CSS written properly for it (now, I am no CSS expert, and only dabble when the situation calls for it, so I may not be the most reliable observer).
Kurosowa made tons of great films; he's inspired many filmmakers and he's by no means obscure. Not everything Coppola did was great, but he is highly regarded and again, not obscure. Also, he wasn't poor. Sergio Leone, Woody Allen, the Coen brothers, Clint Eastwood, etc; all fit in this category.
Closer to Lucas (but far more capable and with more integrity), Spielberg occasionally makes brilliant films. Certainly well-known, certainly not poor. More *like* Lucas, Cameron schlocks it on, makes a ton of money, and writes embarrassingly bad dialogue with bland stereotypical characters clearly aimed at the lowest common denominator. I don't fault him for making his money (nor Lucas), but I don't respect either of them as "artists", whereas the former individuals have earned both a comfortable living and critical respect of both peers and audiences.
The term "failure" certainly can be applied if one is discussing opinions on quality film making. If we're discussing how to make a boatload of cash, OTOH, then of course failure would not describe his outcome. You're correct that in his own eyes he's done a great job of making movies; it is painfully obvious that even the collaborators on his films (watch this) feel he has not. I agree with elrous0 - he failed to live up to the expectations and hopes of those of us who spent our formative years watching his first films and dreaming that we were a part of the story.
Tourrette syndrome, ladies and gentlemen, Tourrette syndrome, thank you very much. It'll be here all post, so come out and support the illness. Oh and please be generous and tip your Cowboy Neals; they work really hard for you so show some appreciation:)
It also assumes that you enjoy the multiplayer experience. I used to love it as a younger gamer (in my 20s & early 30s), but I don't get out of it what I used to. Tastes change with age. I'm not denying the value of multiplayer, but it doesn't appeal the same way across the board to everyone; for my money, the fun is in succeeding in finishing the single-player campaign feeling like gameplay was engrossing and the story line was intriguing enough to hold my attention.
You may not know - this guy MichaelKristopeit has multiple accounts from which he spews shite. He hates just to hate, feeding him is highly discouraged:) He may shrivel & die one day, but one of his many doppelgangers will simply replace him.
You do have a choice (don't read this with any hostile overtones). I stopped using FB over a year ago. Real friends bitched at first (and longest), "friends" mentioned it a couple of times. Eventually, they all stopped. If they're offended that I don't comment or whatnot, honestly they can get stuffed. You do mention that friends in this case is a loose term - my humble advice is, don't let the opinions/attitudes of those you don't esteem hold you hostage. I haven't lost contact with anyone I care about as a result.
I understand being sympathetic with dogs/cats - the bad offenders treat them terribly. But this bans everything. Really, is that rational or necessary? I mean, we're talking fish here, too.
Excellent post (no sarcasm). Further, what is important about them? I don't deny that we love our pets and that a beloved animal matters to its owner (a great deal in many cases), but honestly, important in what other manner? To the world? To the members of PETA? To the Great Earth Mother? Just who has designated kitten #5,243,235,873 as "important?" With all of the problems this world has, time, effort, and resources are being committed towards THIS?
It's nice to get honest insight from someone with a personal stake in things. I wonder if a book could offer a digital copy in the way that the "Blu-Ray combo packs" have begun to do with films. I hope you at the very least get a sense of personal accomplishment, if not wealth beyond imagining. Congrats on getting published, certainly. Feel free to shamelessly plug your book, by the way! If it sounds like something I'd enjoy, I'll buy a copy.
I have no ethical issues with downloading if I already bought a physical copy. I buy R.R. Martin / S. Donaldson books in hardcover, and then I grab electronic copies from questionable sources. I paid for the text. I'm not giving the physical book to someone else after downloading it. I have no problems in paying the author, editor, publisher, and distributor for the work then putting it in a format that's more convenient for me to use. But I'm not going to scan in 1100 pages just because it's legal to do so, when downloading takes seconds and (as long as I'm not posting it back - newsgroups, not torrents here) has the same outcome. I don't support people downloading who have not paid for the work in *any* form, but again, if paid up, have no qualms otherwise. I won't pay twice for the same source material.
For some books, I do purchase the electronic version, because I don't care about owning a physical copy. But there are some works I do want to have in material form; there are times though when having to lug around a doorstop isn't feasible.
Submitter apparently did not read the article s/he submitted! Content samples: "...was never intended to be a huge seller" and "...production is coming to halt as the maker of battery-powered cars switches its focus to the upcoming Model S electric sedan...for the middle of 2012". Sure as hell doesn't sound like Tesla believe that they've failed in their goal, nor that they're shutting down. Damn, this is the first time I've ever posting a bitch-fit (I've edited to take out the multiple f-bombs I had here), but shit, read the article before you submit, and before it is accepted!
Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining. I do install every build just to see what they're doing with the code, and it doesn't bother me to do it regularly. My post was only to let Lunaritian know that if he wants to move up or down on his installed version, he can easily find any release he wishes.
I think it's cool of them to let those of us who wish it grab their latest builds, and that they tend to patch bugs quickly (hence "*happy* to make an install available..." it's a good thing, not a gripe).
And today (maybe yesterday) they released 13.0.782.11, which replaced 13.0.782.10, which (I kid you not) replaced 13.0.782.1 (no zero at the end, otherwise, same number). I draw the conclusion that they are happy to make an install available every time they push the "compile" button.
You can see the build history (and get any of them that you want to) at Filehippo
Thank you for being a voice of reason rather than reaction. I don't know whether I'll like it, hate it, or be indifferent. But I'm not ready to cast it aside just because it's different from anything they've done on the desktop yet.

Thanks for the correction - my shame (or at least this particular part of it) can now be erased from conspicuous display!

Hopefully not Cmdr Taco Flavor.

At the same time, scroll up a bit and find the link to the pic of MIR and the Shuttle that someone else provided - you might actually be shocked!
Wish there was an "insightfunny" +1
