Damn straight. I put down a preorder for this game as soon as I heard the news - my sister loves these games, but I'll be damned if I install any SecuROM crap on my computer.
Why the heck does anyone buy electronics from brick and mortar stores any more?
Because just like people won't do a fucking google search to answer their questions, they won't shop around online.
Also, the FUD regarding online transactions. "But the hackers can steal my credit card and put it up on the youtubes!" is one I actually heard.
Most brick-and-mortar stores that your average joe will go to deal with the majority of people that just want a computer to "check my email, use word and watch the youtubes". I can't speak for chains, there being no real big computer-centric ones in my country, but most of the computer shops I've seen maintain a small brick-and-mortar store, while simultaneously operating an online store. It seems to work pretty well for them.
I'm not a headphone nut, as long as they fit comfortably and I can actually hear stuff through them I'm happy with them - I miss my old $20 no-name headphones, they were comfortable and had a volume dial, unlike these irritating $70 sennheiser ones. Luckily, I didn't technically pay for them as they were bought with a gift card.
Aaanyway, while not big on headphones I do use voice chat a lot, but my headsets never last very long. I got a sennheiser headset for christmas - the sound was great, the microphone picked up everything perfectly, and the cord was nice and long. Seemed perfect! Finally, a headset to cherish for years to come. Right?
Well, they were amazingly comfortable. So comfortable, in fact, that not even a week after christmas, I forgot I was wearing them, and walked off. And fell. And now they don't work anymore.
What on earth are you doing to it?! I don't remember the last time I reinstalled windows because my PC still runs like a dream, and I've punished the crap out of it.
Now, I dislike Microsoft, and I would be using a linux distro full-time if it weren't for my PC gaming, but I never run into any of the problems people go on about. Hell, I've only had one or two bluescreens since Win98 due to some crappy display drivers! This PC is on practically 24/7, and I only ever turn it off when I'm going to be away for more than four days!
Tech2U has worse value for money than even telstra. Omniconnect, netforce, and highway 1 provide internet for businesses. In short, the people who will be trialled will either have more money than sense and no idea about technology, or be one of the miniscule amount of businesses that are with these ISPs.
Any results from this trial have no credibility at all.
I go to the protests, I write to the appropriate officials, and since neither of those look like they'll have any effect, I have a wide variety of free VPN solutions and the like to distribute to anyone that wants one.:)
I blame the Americans, for their culture of inactivity they brought over here back in the war.
Oh, who am I kidding, we're all lazy. And our general populous is just as ignorant as the American general populous.
I have not read TFA, due to the aforementioned laziness, but I think the summary misses some of the biggest news in regard to the filter trials: every damn ISP on the list (with the exception of iPrimus) are tiny little no-name setups that likely have customers numbering in the hundreds. Two major ISPs with large customer bases, Optus and iiNet, were excluded because, I would assume, their data would reflect poorly on the filtering scheme.
These "real world" trials are a sham, and Conroy's a bastard.
Except it obviously doesn't fucking work because a fresh install of vista still took on average three times as long to do everything as a machine with the same specs, XP SP2, and which had never been defragmented. With high-end specs at the time. I started with an optimistic view of vista, but it's a complete and utter pile of smoking crap that I'm happy to purge from every machine I can. What good features it has are carried on to windows 7, which I rather like.
But now that Obama wants to do the exact same thing it's an enlightened 21st century idea that only some Luddite old guy like McCain could ever oppose.
Well, McCain is just an old rich white guy. Obviously, you haven't seen Obama's credentials.
Anyone who had bothered to read it would have seen:
When MP3 files are added (either manually or automatically) to either the Windows Media Player or the Windows Media Center library, or if the file metadata is edited with Windows Explorer, several seconds of audio data may be permanently removed from the start of the file. This issue occurs when files contain thumbnails or other metadata of significant size before importing or editing them.
And the steps:
4. Read the article and install the update available at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=139391.
5. Once you have installed the update, you can safely reset the read/write status of your MP3 files to your preference.

But I'm too used to using LCD miscellany on my logitech G15. If I can't see my ethernet traffic when I glance down I get rather confused. >_>

mcdonalds is pretty popular (and has some cool exclusive menu items)
Japanese McDonalds is better than Australian McDonalds. :(
I miss Japan.
An improvement GUI and graphics-wise it may be, but the 360 version doesn't shove any SecuROM crap on my precious PC. :)
Touché, AC. Touché.
Florida has a capital?! I thought it was just some magical place where old people go eventually. Kind of like neverland, but wrinklier.
Tell me about it - my dad has a 19" alienware notebook.
That thing's a nightmare to take on a plane.

Age is irrelevant; a 30-year-old with the mind of a 12-year-old would still be legal (unless I misunderstand)
Agreed.
My aunt is in her late thirties and has a mental disability. She could in no way give informed consent.

Oops. My bad. I've been playing too many old PC games.
I go to the protests, I write to the appropriate officials, and since neither of those look like they'll have any effect, I have a wide variety of free VPN solutions and the like to distribute to anyone that wants one. :)

Screw them. They're wrong. :P
Pity everyone involved in using such a thing would probably get cancer.

Not to mention buffout. Though I always tend to get addicted to the stuff.
Because my other software needs to use that memory, you insensitive clod!
Even if they don't, I think I would do that anyway for its symbolism.
...
...Player's handbooks?
Where do I get my DM's version?
It definitely has trouble with some subtitled files though, I have to use media player classic for those.
