It's not like once you've lit your 10,000th stick of incense, some guy named Buddha appears before you, smacks you on the forehead to open up your third eye and then you're suddenly enlightened.
That would be pretty awesome, though. I'd convert.
Regardless, the hit to battery life for a 20 min play session or three still means that unless you take the charger with you wherever you go, in addition to using email and mobile internet (not to mention phone calls), it's a matter of playing a game or having a phone for the day. It is seriously bad.
It wouldn't be half as bad if apple would take their heads out of their asses and make a device with user-swappable batteries.
I love the ability to play wolfenstein 3d wherever I go but I also like to be able to make and receive calls.
Without a huge upgrade to battery life I don't see it being good for anything but casual games, and while not necessarily a bad thing, when I hear "gaming platform", I don't think of that genre. It just seems wrong to call it a gaming platform to me.
I already keep several programs that would defeat any filter that Conroy is competent enough to implement, as well as a simple list of proxies... If censorship in Australia happens, it won't affect me, but I'll be damned if I don't fight it every step of the way.
Demigod can be played without impulse, assuming you have the retail copy. Just can't patch it.
Given their stance on not screwing over paying customers, I would assume that at the end of life of the product they would release a regularly downloadable patch, but that stage the only multiplayer you'll be doing will be via hamachi etc anyway because they won't be running the matchmaking servers.
But there's nothing like owning something real. Same with games.
Yes, those plastic cases and DVDs make me all fuzzy inside.
There is nothing like that about buying a video game. The only reason I haven't moved on completely to buying all my games digitally is the fact that Australia has shitty download quotas. The only reason for me to buy a game instead of pirating it is a) multiplayer or b) it's actually a good game.
The only exception is the seldom produced collector's edition that actually has something worthwhile, like Warhammer Online's.
Oh yeah - there's one I used to frequent a long time ago that went into hiding while I was on holiday, it had a site placeholder-style thing with a lorem ipsum on it. There was some secret way to get in but I wasn't around to find out.
I understand that you lose efficiency when you have to support such a wide array of hardware - that's fine. Looking nice is a personal opinion, I honestly don't like it very much...
My main problem with Vista is the time it takes to do normal tasks. Some file transfers took me an hour on my vista laptop as opposed to about ten-twenty minutes on my lower specced XP laptop.
The fact of the matter is that just about everything I hate about vista is fixed in windows 7, and the features I loved (like the per-application sound mixer) are still in it. I'm not happy about having to move to the new start menu after all this time fighting it, but it's a simple enough change, as is the new taskbar, which I have found relatively easy to adjust to.
Note that all my experiences with vista have been on systems way above recommended specs - gaming rigs and workstations mostly.
By the time I have to go pick it up, there'll be reports on whether or not it does in fact have such DRM - and I can just cancel the preorder and spend the money on another game.;)

I was 60% against torture. Most of me was going "Torture is bad, mmkay" but the rest was thinking "...but if the torturer was a hot chick..."
Bullshit. Universal Australia was the one who sold the album accidentally for two hours.
Most, but not all would be illegal.
Except it's not WoW. Like the summary says, it's pirates of the burni - oh wait, this is slashdot. Thought I was on digg.
And I thought my AUD$120 for a 256MB one was bad.
(I can now pick up a 4GB from my TAFE for like twenty bucks)

It's shopped? :O

No, but CDs can make a fairly uncomfortable throne.

I was already an atheist, but if I wasn't I would strongly suspect that page was made by Satan - check out the browser recommendation.
But maybe a new system where users click some 'I want to download this file' button and get the content via an e-mail?
Right, because uninformed people opening attachments don't cause enough problems already...
Damn you, bbcode.
The one time I forget to preview...
Speak for yourself, I like chilli and cats and just got a tattoo without moving at all. :P
It's typical, really. I just [i]got[/i] my first tattoo, and then they tell me about this.
I refute the claim that what the RIAA labels produce is 'music'. They make noise. Lots and lots of irritating noise.

THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR VISITING YOU, VANUATU!
Hey! I'm going to finish it one day!
HAH.
Don't come to Australia. Our internet might drive you mad.
Traditional my ass. It's just people sore at being tricked trying to impose an arbitrary rule to turn it around on us.

It won't crash often if at all, it's true, but vista is way too slow for my, and many other's tastes.
