    TrueCrypt is a very nice free solution and I've been using it for months, haven't had a single problem with it. I guess they were not aware of that software, maybe because they simply didn't look for ANY other products beside McMoney's..

    How do you differ 3$ from free* ? Yes, free*. You can always download you know, but then you'd have to burn it (OR you could always order a Linux DVD online for a mere 9.99 EUR)

    If it's only photo for photos ajustments (Exposure for instance) I found Adobe Lightroom very useful and straightforward. I found myself doing these kind of thing in Photoshop more than once. I know, it's nothing like Photoshop, GIMP, PaintShop or anything like that, but still. Reassembles Picasa.

    I hate when these arrogant bastards think they own the world and other people's job is less important as theirs because we have a proprietary code base.

    It's this kind of attitude that gives Microsoft the advantage they have... "Games? They are not important let's leave Microsoft with that part.. We could also leave the office production to Microsoft aswell.. and the server market. Do I care? Where does it say I care about what you do?"

    Get a good sound card (I heard Audigy 2 is really good) and a decent speaker/headset. Edifier has nice speakers for PCs and I guess Sennheiser does a good job with headsets.

    Can you imagine how long an XP boot (or Ubuntu for that mater) would take on an old 386 system with a sluggish hard drive and not a lot of memory (if such a thing were even possible)? Maybe it isn't possible on a 386, but surely is possible on a 8MHz Pentium II
    Also, my Win2k3 workstation doesn't reboot unless I do some major update, say updating video drivers.

    Now with Office 2007 and completely new file types it may fit! The file format has been completely revised so the competi^H^H^H^H^H^H^H compression ratio is much bigger now!
