truth be told, there's already some research going on to make some kind of wireless power connection possible. one of them even seems quite realistic. of course, we'll never have it everywhere, but it'll still eliminate that last cord from the laptop;)
hmm... the difference is that AT&T is a link in the chain of computing systems that sends packets between you and your friend. a random hacker doesn't have direct access to your packets like that. that means you can't see as much about the connection, and it'll take more work to fake the reset packet.
art is generally seen as a form of expression, right? showing people how you see things?
then if something's too complicated for most of the audience to get, it probably fails at expressing those things. in other words, it does suck, simply because it doesn't mean anything to the people you made it for.
and if you "made it for yourself", ya don't really have the right to complain if others don't get it. after all, you didn't make it for them anyway, right?:P
it's uhm... the right to... ahhh, whatchamacallit?... uhm... be free of th.. the burden of living your own life.
yeah.. the right to let us do the serious stuff for you. but only if it could end with you in jail. because if it doesn't, it couldn't possibly be important enough for us. yup. that's it.
happy now, civilian? move along folks, nothing to see here!
i like your logic. after all, they -are- stealing bandwidth from more useful internet services. stealing.. thieves... cutting off hands... it all makes sense:)
agreed wholeheartedly. some kind of funny anti-riaa movie to offset the annoying anti-piracy ones. i don't know about you guys, but our local version of the riaa in the netherlands (stichting brein) has their own anti-piracy clip which is added to the start of about four out of five movies. veeeerry annoying.
hmm, yup. but we're talking about "near-earth objects". i'd assume that means they're near enough to give us a nice radiation shower if we nuked them. eh, i dunno about you but i prefer my own skin colour over that funky glowy green.
yup. and anti-aids drug researchers are adding another 50 for monogamic relationships as a whole..
by the way, i've got a plan: i'm gonna make a game that consists of moving a cube. when you reach the upper left corner, you win. it'll suck, but i'm gonna charge $350 for it and sue the people making cheaper, better games for billions of dollars in damages. should work, right? are you in?:D
"installed" is easy. "used" is different. this computer right here would be a fine example, always equipped with a linux distro at the bottom of my grub, never being booted. used it for about... 4 2-week-long periods over 2 years. it's fun to mess with, but games take more trouble to install and run properly and sdk's act weird because every distro is different. it's much, much more convenient to work in windows, even if it's slower and crappier.
i'm a hobbyist programmer... and can't even count the number of times i've wanted to make something like that:P just never had the time, sadly enough...
wow.. i didn't know that. still, i'd assume most people trying out the gimp would probably have a windows background. macs and the software commonly associated with them tend to be more expensive than regular pcs, so they won't pick the gimp just because it's cheaper.
well, in order for the gimp to replace photoshop, it needs to stop scaring folks. making the gui more intuitive for those coming from windows and similar stuff would be a great step in that direction.
and yuppers.. you're not the only one who got the ad. i figured i'd refresh and get a different batch of ads, but it came back. it's even invisible... ghostly haunting ads o_O
i'm not him, so i don't know what he's talking about, but i know the separate-screen gui drove me away for years. i got fed up with downloading photoshop again and again though, so... i figured i'd just grin and bear with it. it hasn't crashed so far though, while photoshop does that sometimes, so i guess i should be grateful.
heh... gps was originally a military technology, publically accessible now. and it's being used by some corporations to track where their employees' cell-phones are going. it's a scary thought, but you might actually be on to something -_-
a while ago,/. featured an article on a robot dog made to carry luggage for infantry.. through dense forests and rough terrain. where no wheeled vehicle could move and no chopper could land. it's also probably more efficient to have a walker along, as opposed to having to find a landing spot for a helicopter, asking for one to drop off some gear, pick it up in the morning and fly back with it again.
legged robots would do extremely well in natural terrain and inside buildings, compared to any other form of locomotion other than snake-like robots. and those don't make great packbeasts.. so yeah, there's a use for this kind of research:)
speak-and-spell. yup. did you just pluck that macguiver-esque scenario from E.T. and use it in a joke?
:D
nice one!

it does show how much pride he takes in doing things correctly, doesn't it?

poison works well on things that grow naturally ;)
taken completely out of context, but it's still.. oddly appropriate, no?
no.. multiplayer wet t-shirt deathmatch. ;)

that's interesting.. is it self-taught (did you gradually get better at sniffing stuff?) or is it genetic?
nah. use sharks with fricking lazors attached to their fricking heads!
i, for one, will form a resistance against them. armed with heavy, iron-studded boots to kick them over :D

someone mod this guy up instead of down.. he's right, ya know? it may not be nice to think about, but it's true.
well, i'm thinking "patriot act". sure, others have done similar shit before, but this does beat them all as far as i know. or.. am i mistaken?
