    Not to be picky (ok, to be picky), but buying a gallon of milk with cash, or buying a coke from a machine, are not contracts. A contract must contain at least one promise. Neither of these purchases contain a promise of future action.

    To think, six years ago I actually payed $7.50* to watch that god-awful Will Smith vehicle "The State" just to see the Phantom Menace Trailer. Soon after that I wore an armband for a week to save my spot in line to buy opening night tickets.

    I think I saw Episode II about a week after it came out.

    Episode III I'll probably save for Netflix. Sigh.

    *Which would be worth something like $7.53 in 2005 dollars.

    Notably, Article 2 forbids "national appropriation," but does not ban appropriation by some super-national body -- such as the United Nations. Surely the settlers of Mars would gain little from being placed under the thumb of an infamously corrupt and self-serving collection of dictatorships none of which (Russia excepted) have contributed anything to the exploration of space.


    Here is the real point of the article. The author is yet another anti-UN zealot, and his entire attack on the treaty mentioned is a thinly veiled attack on that body. Personally, I think an UN-headed colony on Mars or the Moon would be a great way to go.

    Your idea of real world labor equating to in game dollars is interesting, however that would open a whole new can of worms.

    I don't remember which game it was, but one of the Online RPGs ran in to some trouble for simply having volunteer player arbitrators, as someone accused them of unfair labor practices. If anyone has any more details or a relevant article, I'd be interested in reading up on this.

    My point is, they needed a much longer and more thorough beta period to root out some of the big problems, especially with cheating, and get them fixed before releasing it to the paying public


    Exactly. I was in the beta for the game, and while the newness made it incredibly exciting for a while, I remember it was still basically in an unplayable state when I got the email letting me know the beta was ending. My jaw dropped open and I thought "They're going to release this."

    Glad I didn't pay for it.

    Well, seeing as I just got out of a marathon five hour session of Dark Age of Camelot in time to see this story, I'm not exactly an unbiased source, but I have to say you people put together a damn fine game. Having betaed AC, UO, and EQ (I love free stuff), and having declined to purchase any of those three, I reluctantly bought DAoC after reading good review after good review.

    ...Let me just say I find it worth paying per month. Congratulations on your success.

    Anyone who is interested in the fate of the International Space Station might want want to consider checking out "Dragonfly", a book about the experiences of the NASA astronauts on Mir. They had quite a bit of trouble with these air scrubbers, which I believe are the same used on ISS. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

    WOT Erotica? Look no farther than the books themselves! I've been slogging my way through the newest volume, trying to ignore the fact that Jordan's prose is barely readable (I'm hooked on the plot... been reading the damn things since 10th grade, I can't stop now).

    Anyhow, it's been really bugging me just how heavy Jordan's been laying on the bondage fantasy. You can't swing a ta'varen without hitting a naked girl on a leash. It's a little jarring.
