    To be honest I personally don't see a problem with the long ads in front of what I watch. I prefer them instead of the video being chopped up by a bunch of pop up ads that drive me crazy. They block out images that I'm trying to see. It's like a movie theatre equivalent of someone in the row in front of you getting up every 6 minutes to block your view. For example, some of the new video game commercial previews are pretty good,

  10. As much as I like technology, Linus is right. It is self-serving.. Instead of helping you: Our daily life gets harder as time passes on, with to much more information demanded from you, more means to monitor you at work, and a ton of mail to process when you get home.

    Another ad strategy that burns me up is the screen goes dark and an ad pops up before you can read the page. I barely get to read a few words!! These sites get me so angry that I leave.. I understand you need revenue and I do click on some ads that address my needs or wants, or are simply interesting.. I don't mind side ads that scroll up together with each page. I don't mind a well placed long partition ad.

    Even when I go into valleys in certain spots of an area I can lose the signal on my phone. Cellular towers are line of site transmission. And in the future, if they put a new tall building between the tower and where you live, you might have problems.

    Regarding towers: And don't forget solar flare disruptions. Even lightning. And believer it or not, wind can affect reception sometimes. It also makes me wonder who's is going to fare better during an earthquake?

  17. Sometimes streaming get erratic or just quits when I'm listening to some of my favorite commentators. Since the same show is broadcasted on AM I have turned to my radio to hear the rest of the program.

    It's not a perfect solution by any means, just a patch: Anchor lightweight floating objects in the polar circle to reflect the light back into space and cool the water. Find a material with tolerance of freezing. Maybe it won't be ice, but it will possibly sustain the old pathways of cold ocean water (and polar vortex air?) that used to exist before this calamity happened.

    In the old days they used to put a limit on what kind of car and how much horsepower you could legally have on the road for this reason. So you don't have the potential to kill people. Not only drinking - Emotions of: Anger, being late, frustrated in a traffic jam are all triggers. 0-60 in 5 seconds was pretty dam fast when the 1960's cars came out.. But there was little traffic then, No bikers blowing stop signs. Or pedestrians crossing the road without even looking both ways before they cross anywhere. (You used to get ticketed for 'jay walking.')... If you want that kind of acceleration, join quarter mile racing and get it out of your system.

    It's a pity how they never concentrate on enhancing the cooperation between man and machine. More accuracy, productivity, less strain for repetitive tasks, help when brute force or super strength is needed, are just but a few advantages. It's like two people trying to do a task; When person A. has strengths that B. does not, A does it. When person B. has strengths that A. does not, B. does it.
