Replace "any government" with "any large enough group of human beings". If you've ever worked for a large company, then you know what I'm talking about.
It's well known by anybody who has ever worked in government that most departments spend their remaining budget on plasma TVs, new computers, agendas (the paper kind), and other expensive or unneeded things right near the end of the fiscal year.
Most houses have the light bulbs near the ceiling, so any heat you "gain" from using regular bulbs is not going to contribute much to the heat that actually keeps you warm in your house.
Does Linspire still run the entire system as root by default? If so, then IMHO it shouldn't even be considered a real distribution of Linux but rather a poorly hacked together DOS-like operating system that only happens to share components with Linux. Non-superuser accounts must be mandatory for a modern operating system. Period.
Do have an honest counter argument or is insulting him the best you can come up with?
If it weren't for Apple, Creative Labs or Sony or Microsoft would be the #1 DRM'd music vendor, and we'd be bitching about their implementation instead. And the honest ones among us who dislike DRM no matter who makes it will still be doing what we have always done, buy our music from cool non-DRM'd labels and occasionally in that old fashioned "CD" format.
My MythTV box spends MOST Of its time doing exactly that. If these chips are as fast/cheap/cool (and therefore QUIET) as they appear to be, my MythTV box will be running Conroe by the end of the year.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has sent a letter of thanks to US President George W Bush, citing this action as another example of US moral leadership.
Great music in MP3 or FLAC. *This* is the way to run a music store, which is why they get ALL my business these days, no more "Apple knows what's best for you" crap. And for me, the lack of Top-40 schlock is also great feature.

This morning actually. I turned on my laptop and when XP got to the login screen I got a BSOD talking about an error in the login. Why an OS should crash because the login screen fails is beyond me.
I'm not American but I don't think it is stupidity that makes people ignore these things, I think it is laziness. It is much easier to ignore stuff that doesn't impact you on a daily basis than to actively deal with it.

Got any actual evidence of this?
Correlation != Causation
That's a feature, not a bug.

You can "dim" an LED bulb.
Uhh, IBM still sells Intel based desktops and servers.

Your social security check is late! Things cost more than they used to! Young people use curse words!
You should publish a link to Captain Copyright! Of course, you definitely don't want to link to the blog of the guy who exposed the various copyright infringements that Captain Copyright was partaking in, or the EFF's DRM counter force: The Corruptables!
That part in the middle should read:
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has sent a letter of thanks to US President George W Bush, citing this action as another example of US moral leadership.
They capitulate, especially to Canadians.
And still astute.
So don't bother clicking the link if you use Linux.

Professor Farnsworth is awesome, no matter what that hack Wernstrom says.
Is online here. Looks interesting.

Actually that is a good point. I wonder if the recent inclusion of Mono in Fedora core 5 helped prompt Sun to do something about Java.
FWIW, the Nintendo RevolutionWii is IBM PowerPC based as well.

It's different. And the best part is watching people get so upset over the name of a game console.
Maybe it was Interix (aka Windows Services for Unix). :)
