Yup...
These are indeed key phrases to keep in mind whilst talking about the Government. Idealism and what's right fail in the presence of Government agenda.
Haha. No, not rly.
Since they were giving away content that was - to everyone else - already worth paying for. To my knowledge, most of the content Youtube-creators offer is most certainly NOT worth paying for to begin with.
I'm sure the giant lawsuit wasn't much fun either.
... The PS3 isn't? It's like they stuffed 10 pounds of good hardware into a machine 3 sizes too small... they went from || to () lol. Nintendo had the right idea, shrink that shit. Sure they didn't play up the graphics as much, but at least it's still worthy of being called a console and not a PC. If the other's get much bigger, they may as well just tack a display on it thing and call it a day.
Now I'm rambling and it's all your fault.
Thanks for enlightening me. I don't know much about such things, but it still seems petty in light of current events. Also, I did indeed read TFA, and saying that it "benefits the entire community" still seems a bit of a stretch to me.
Nintendo moved away from a great piracy deterrent,
cartridges!
Sure they probably cost just a smidgen more to produce, but maybe it'd be balanced by what they lose out on from piracy.
I had been building for several years, but only ever for fun. Recently I began doing it as a service for others, and even more recently started actively promoting my services.
I bill by the hour, but I've made it a practice to require a deposit before I begin work, as well as requiring clients to maintain a balance to which I can bill the work (thus avoiding being ripped off). I haven't bothered with any contracts, and so far none of the businesses that I've worked with have requested that one be drawn up. Since my references are reputable, they take me at my word. A little trust can eliminate a lot of hassle.
Sometimes I'll go fishing for clients. If I know of a business that needs a website, I might do up a design and tease them with it. "Look what YOU could have!". It's a good way to grease the wheels with any prospective client.
I'm not sure what the fuss is about. I play all of my games on Linux (once Slackware, but now openSuSE). Yes, I run most of the non-native games under Wine... because let's face it, that's what it's there for. And believe it or not, my experience more often than not is that perform much better under Linux, usually smoother with a higher framerate. DOOM3 and UT2004 with max graphics both struggled under Windows with the specs I'm running, under Linux? (both capable of running natively) They both run beautifully and have a framerate gain of almost 20%. It's usually the same with non-native games as well, if not so dramatic a difference; Guild Wars, Tribes2, WCIII, even HL & CS over Steam.
I don't spend a ton of time playing games anymore, and for that reason I haven't bought any of the latest and greatest. Also I haven't upgraded my PC in something like 5 years.
My rig for reference sake: Dual-boot WinXP & Linux 2.6.x (whatever distro I happen to be enjoying at the time). AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Nvidia GeForce FX 5700 AGP 512 MB DDR RAM (raise your hand if your jaw dropped).
I agree with most of the comments here. One can be taught the techniques of artistic design, but unless you're already artistically inclined, It's going to take some time to get acquainted with the ideas. I'm a small-time web-designer, working mostly in Gimp and Inkscape (open source graphics programs). In contrast, I started out as an artist and got interested in web work; in hindsight, a transition that I'm thankful for. BlatOdea.com is my art gallery, but it also has some info on my web-design work. Feel free to drop me a line.
QuickTime is malware in and of itself as far as I'm concerned. Every time I've ever installed it on Windows, it's buggy and something manages to go wrong. That and it tends to take over every file association it possibly can regardless of what it's told to do. Then when I go to uninstall it, I can never seem to get it all off the system.
Now where's my stillsuit! :D
I've wanted one of those forever!
should have never
supposed to

FINALLY, a chance to use my green foam HULK SMASH! novelty gloves!

Using public money borrowed against future generations, to build an unnecessary private bridge for one of the most profitable companies in America.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that!
Jesus, now I need some Tylenol.
Walls are free, go put your head through one.
You Sir, Win. Too bad you've been modded troll.
parts of the Third World (USA & Australia, anyway)
... Did you seriously just call the US & Australia 3rd world? srsly?

She was the only good part about that movie. Doom was fine for a Sci-Fi flick, but a disgrace to Doom, IMHO.
This HL short is awesome though, seemingly better quality and more captivating than Hollywood production.
If it's fun and relatively harmless, it's illegal.
But if it's fun, and could kill you, it's legal.

As an aside, M.A.D. sounds to me like a flawed idea. Flawed in that, whoever starts it, may not give a rat's ass?
