If your going to quote a paragraph at least read the paragraph before it!
XFree86 does NOT have a bugzilla or similar bug tracking database. Instead, bug reports are sent to an email address (xfree86@xfree86.org) which someone might or might not ever actually read. Many people think of this bug report address as a blackhole, or a/dev/null alias. In many cases, I believe they are right.
He's obviously heard of Bugzilla he's just saying that the XFree86 team wasn't using it or anything comparable.
I'm sick of this meta-karma whoring going on at slashdot recently. People should be given points of having something to say, and not just flaming people who repost data.
To phoxix (161744): So you like flaming people who post copyrighted material ?
PS: So the next time you flame someone for re-posting copyright data. Don't karma-whore and post it as AC. Someother Dude
The actual quote is...Linux is only free if your time has no value. I think his rant supports this position as some people don't want to read man pages to find obscure command line options, install new libraries, or jump through any other hoops just to play a video file.
Because its much easier to detect and locate errors with tags rather than parantheses. If I'm missing a closing bold tag in HTML its simple for a parser to detect two open bold tags with no close in between. If you're only using parens you're out of luck. See XML is not S-Expressions for more in depth analysis.
If you are walking through a hash, and want to delete an element (like the one you are currently at), this will kill the walking and you'll have to restart all over again. Otherwise it segfaults
That reminds me of a bug in C, when I free() a pointer and then read and write to it, sometimes it works fine and sometimes I get data coruption, weird! I guess I'll just stick to Atari BASIC.
If there's a single trait most people who read Slashdot share -- maybe the only one besides an addiction to software -- it's a love of popular culture.
You forgot to mention utter disbelief at how your articles get posted here as a shared Slashdotter trait.
Specifically, the DMCA states that as of Oct. 28, 2000, "No person shall circumvent a technological measure that effectively controls access to a work."
Well once you circumvent it doesn't that show that it wasn't effective?
Thank goodness the two of you are here to make sure that contract violators aren't slandered with the title of thief.
Roedy started this back in the 90's, you could at least have the decency to link to the latest version.
Essentially, it indicates an error in the original that the quoter has chosen to preserve for whatever reason.
Usually the reason is to show how much smarter the quoter is than the author of the original.

The FTC has limited authority to police telemarketing calls from certain industries, including airlines, banks and telephone companies.
I wonder if "limited authority" means this bill won't apply to calls from those industries.
Innovation isn't having customizable skins and non standard widgets which don't add any new functionality.

To be President, you have to be at least 35 years old and a *natutal born citizen*.
Unless of course you were a citizen of the United States at the time the constitution was adopted.
