  1. Applauded? maybe but you still go to jail. on 419 Scammer Gets Scammed · · Score: 1

If the cops show up and you are kicking the mugger while he is on the ground in a fetal position, you will be arrested.

If you cross the line between violence for the sake of defence and violence for the sake of punishment, you are no better the mugger and you will be dealt with accordingly.

  2. Video includes all the TV shows on Video and Software Downloads Overtaking Music · · Score: 1

I don't have a TV so if I want to watch a TV I download it. The majority of TV never comes out on DVD and if it does it sure as hell doesn't come out the same week the show aired.

  3. They are both evil on USA PATRIOT Act Survives Amendment Attempt · · Score: 2, Informative

Kerry and Edwards both voted for the original PA. You are right it's very cut and dry.

    Vote Libertarian in 2004!

  4. Only because they are running for President on USA PATRIOT Act Survives Amendment Attempt · · Score: 1
Both Kerry and Edwards have stated they want, support and will work toward making sure the Patriot act does in fact expire when it's supposed to.

Kerry who is campaign is "I hate/love what Bush loves/hates". Since Bush likes the Patriot act Kerry hates it.

I have a feeling Kerry will have a change of tune after (if) he gets elected.

  5. I would guarantee it. on USA PATRIOT Act Survives Amendment Attempt · · Score: 2, Interesting

I've asked dozens of my friends of family and I only found 3 people out of about 20 who are voting for Bush because he is Bush rather then because he isn't Kerry. What's scary is that out of the 40 people voting Dem this November not a single one would vote for Kerry if Bush wasn't the incumbant.

  6. Those are server-side technologies, bub on GIF Slips Away From Unisys; Your Move, IBM · · Score: 2, Informative

  7. You've never been to Vegas I go to. on Las Vegas Monorail Finally Ready To Open · · Score: 1

The only time the Strip doesn't look like the start of the Boston Marathon is between 3 and 8 in the morning. Everyone walks. So many damn people walk it's ridiculous. Walking the 2 miles from the MGM to the Flamingo takes over a hour because of all the people in the way.

  8. Hey, that's what we use at my work on Appropriate Music for Callers 'On Hold'? · · Score: 1

The Blue Note sessions to be exact.

We actually had a customer ask for a supervisor and complain about our "horrible" hold music. I looked up his order and he was from deep in the heart of Texas. What an ass.

  9. Know who else was just following orders? Nazis! on Lauren Weinstein: If MTV Calls, Hang Up · · Score: 1

    Godwin's law strikes again.

  10. Even if this thing blows up on the ground.... on Mike Melvill Chosen To Fly SpaceShipOne · · Score: 1

I bet you could find a dozen people within 5 minutes who would sign up for the next one. Humanity has always been a bunch of crazy bastards.

  11. Nope, not at all. on A Scanner Darkly Film Preview · · Score: 2, Informative

Big studios have small divsions that are able to do what they like for the most part. Pulp Fiction was a Miramax flick. Miramax belongs to Disney and do you think Disney would put their name and money into a movie by Tarintino?

At the high level, yeah, it's not that independant. But I would bet that no one in the WB management is allowed to have any amount of control over what WB Independant does. If they fuck up and lose millions of dollars they all will be fired but at least some VP can't come down and make script changes.

  12. Guess it beats walking, but not a brisk jog on Zeppelin Flies Again · · Score: 1

What's the top speed on these things? I don't want to take a 3 day flight from LA to NY.

  13. I was hoping for gold to fall out of the sky. on Uniquely Bright: Experiences and Tips? · · Score: 1

But it ain't going to happen.

I personally think Dawkin's and your quest is hillarious. The only way make your smug arrogence any more transparent would be to use genius, or perhaps intellectual as the name of your group.

  14. Ha Ha Ha you have no idea do you? on Labels Find New Method of Payola · · Score: 1

Next thing you'll tell me is that the artist is able to see "The Books" at a moment's notice and those books will be accurate and uncooked.

  15. But that where the fun is! on Venus Transit Finished · · Score: 1

Sorry, bad joke. Mod me down into oblivion.

  16. The entire DA office would be fired, or executed. on Online Plagiarist Sues University · · Score: 1

For your analogy to work the cops would have had to known about #1 through #26. What do you think would happen if the media reported a police department knew about someone commiting 26 murders before they took action?

  17. That would be Wyld Stallions on The Way the Music Died · · Score: 1

  20. People not using unsubscribe is a pain in the ass. on Does SPAM Unsubscribing Really Work? · · Score: 2, Insightful

I work for a online incorporator (we form corporations, LLC's, etc.). We maintain a email list that includes past clients, people who sign up for our newsletter, people who give us business cards at expos, etc. We send out about 5 emails a month.

Each time we send a email out dozens of people call us to bitch about it. We've been accused of "domestic terrorism" more then once. People scream about receiving emails for the last three months. I'd like to ask them why the hell the waited until they waited until the 15th email to complain and why they never unsubscribe, but I know better.

  21. Commute on a motorcycle? Bad idea. on Alternatives to Cars? · · Score: 1

With a short commute it might be fine but with a serious commute the chance of being seriously injured approches 100%.

  22. Actually it might cost more money. on Alternatives to Cars? · · Score: 2, Interesting

Used cars cost lots more in repairs and unless you're a serious mechanic you aren't going to be fixing things such as blown head gaskets and dead transmissions.

The most affordable thing to do is buy a $20,000 Japanese car and run it into the ground. You can put 200,000 miles on it easy and you probably wouldn't have any major repairs until way past the 100,000 mark.

  23. Another place we are all too familar with. on The Logic Behind Metric Paper Sizes · · Score: 1
