Neither have I and I've had a Microsoft TIVO (Ultimate TV) for a couple years now.
As far as I can tell, the UI is a bit better than TiVO and the functionality is really pretty good. It has that desktop internet thing that is pretty much useless, but otherwise I haven't seen one I liked better yet.
Oh, and as far as I know, it's been running 24/7 for a few years now and never crashed or needed a reboot. We upgraded hard drives in 3 of them, and 2 of the new hard drives have crashed, but otherwise, running great!
If you feel like it's an effort to regain your levels when you die--enough so to close your account--then thats exactly what you should do.
Also, if you die that rarely, either that game is amazingly lame or you are playing way too conservatively. If that really appeals to you you could save some money by looking at "Home for sale" VR tours, because spinning around in place is really all you're doing. If it helps you can click on furniture for points.
Party politics are like nuclear bombs--a really bad idea all around but the only way to combat one is to have your own.
So vote for who you will in the national election, but find the party you agree with the most and vote for them down the line for all the state and local seats.
Which Third Party? Libertarian sounded really good to me at first, at least on social issues, but then I realized the were hands-off with businesses as well.
Honestly I think the only job of the government right now should be to keep big business in check (What other recoruse do we have vs a business gone wrong? Like not buying Enron energy ever helped anyone!) The Libertarians may do more damage than the Republicans when it comes right down to it.
That kinda leaves Green (or just pick your own 3rd party and write it in I guess). The trick is to pick your party and stick with it, but vote for whomever you think might do less damage for president (They both belong to The Commercial Party of the United States anyway.)
So I guess the trick would be to do it from within America. Set up a few safe-houses where you can build your satellite killers and pre-program them to hit the sats. at the right moment. *POOF* No more MTV and your terrorists are already back in Saudi Ariba before anyone knows it's going to happen.
I wonder how we would counter such an attack.
This is a much more effective form of terrorism too--less messy and would scare the crap out of a lot more people.
Umm, not that I don't agree with you in general, but when you said:
"At least Nintendo knows what they make are toys. Nintendo is out to maximize the toy experience, not add crap on top and charge you for it."
it totally reminded me of the sales guy telling me that the new DS handheld will have palmOS built in--you know, with the organizer and the address list and the notepad, and the expenses tracker and the clock and the to do list and...
Damn it, I know 4 * 100k=400K, I had a sentence about do you then go on to a fifth time or not, but I deleted it. Now I'm going to get 20 people posting that my math is wrong and therefore everything I said is completely invalid.
I have a LOT of trouble believing most of the stuff you are claiming.
First, not sterilizing in private hospitals?
Second, about the cardiologists, if they didn't pay any insurance then their income might be doubled for a while but in America they would have been sued into oblivion within a year, so please give me the source for this claim.
Finally, your conclusion eludes me. If you pay what it costs and' as you said above, a $200k operation should REALLY cost $70k, how is someone who makes $25k a year supposed to live? Do you feel that they are not of enough value to society to live at all?
I'd really like an answer on this one: How would you manage the bills if your child had to have 4 heart sugeries at $100k a piece? Honestly--I'd like to know how much of that $500,000 you could come up with before you had to stop paying and let your son die. If you do pay it all, what kind of college are you then going to be able to help him afford?
Also, getting rid of insurance (and lawsuits) would be great, but then what is your recourse when a doctor comes in drunk and kills your wife. If you think that is a silly example and of course you can sue the hospital for THAT, then where do you draw the line (Right now we let juries draw the line, what do you suggest we change this to)?
In both cases I'd point out that it's possible that sometimes a more-or-less neutral group may look like it is supporting one side when, in reality, it is simply one side outperforming the other.
Is it really necessary to show both sides as equal when they aren't?
RE: I almost completely agree that if you're dumb enough to fall for the scam, you deserve it.
Being informed has very little to do with being dumb. Would you find it appropriate if the government planted mines around the city and sent out maps to everyone telling them were they were? You COULD at that point say that anyone who stepped on one was "Dumb" (I prefer ignorant) but you would be much more annoyed at whoever left the unnecessary hazards in an area where the uneducated COULD step on them.
If you are serious about wanting one, set it up yourself. I don't know how many users you get these days, but the act of setting up a dial-in BBS is pretty simple.
If you offered some kind of internet email relay, you might even get quite a few locals interested by offering totally free "Internet email" and community discussion boards.
And you lose nothing except the use of an extra phone line.
Actually, you brought up the biggest point to do this kind of thing. Most of these items have a certian minim usable size. Suppose you take a digital camera, to hold it steady it should be fairly large and have a little weight to it.
So if you can take the same package and drop in a HD, all of a sudden you can reuse the controls, battery and display for an MP3 player.
Same with a cell phone. Although the form is different, you can already have a phone that is way too small to use, so what are you going to do? stuff extra plastic in there?
The reason for the complaints here is probably that they haven't found the right form factor yet, hard drives don't fit into a good cell phone form, and the cameras they choose are usually low-res "bonus" items, but these things will change.
You could go buy the wood and nails and everything to build your house but you could not follow someone elses blueprint if the blueprints are copyrighted.
The software industry seems to be trying to copywrite "Nailing four boards together to form a rectangular or square configuration".
Kind of O/T but there are times when reading news from a real "news source" is really frusterating. I actually clicked on "Lateral Eruption" to see the details and only then did I realize it wasn't hyperlinked.
Have I been spending too much time on Wikipedia?? Oh, good idea! That's where I'll go to look up Lateral Eruption.
Azureus allows you to set upstream limits. The only problem is that it should take a LOT longer to download your torrent unless there are a lot of generously configured seeds out there.

Just because the record companies choose to put out crap isn't really a reason to dislike the entire genre.

Maybe you meant to say 90% of the commercial hip-hop/rap that you've heard doesn't appeal to you?
Just for fun, try this--appears to not be commerical:

I wanted to mod it +1 Scary.
Where are you buying your CD-R's? I generally wait for a 100 cdrs for $10 with a $10 rebate, not usually hard to find.
DVD-R's are a little lower than that too, deals2buy today has:
100 Pack GreatAZO 8X DVD-R Blank Media 4.7GB DVDR Disc>> for $26 at Meritline.com
(Plus shipping, probably $5 making it $31/cd.)
But if you actually have to pay $10 for your CDs, DVDs are probably a little cheaper.

They caught this problem in beta, just as should be done! Bravo!
Brings some true professionalisim to an industry where companies actually ship/sell products with bugs like this all the time.
Actually, the original web browser had facilities for editing built in, it was expected to be used in much the same way Wikis are today.

Someone tried to get it in there quickly for extra mod points or something, please mod it back down--yuck
Thank you!

I wish I had some mod points, but I don't, so would someone please mod the parent up a couple more--it's a great point.

That was very informative and a great summary. Thank you for going to the effort--I had no idea it was that complex.
I suppose I should be frightened--what awaits the software industry as it matures.

By the way. You're supporting a tyrant. Dump them. Set up your own network if you must, wireless works really well these days.
