It's a very tempting idea on the grounds of climate alone. I for one would gladly leave Soviet Canuckistan and welcome my new drug lord leaders.

Damn fucking straight. A similarly sized file in WMV or RM format plays silky smooth, but on Flash it comes out all choppy and pixelated on my older system. A standard for large video aggregation sites is okay, but why does it need to be such a shitty standard?

  5. For real arena fighting on How Pro Gaming Will Change World of Warcraft · · Score: 1

Play a MUD like Imperian if you want to see real PvP skill in a fantasy rpg setting. You need to think ahead and use all your coding skills to have a good offense and defense. Having high quality equipment/artifacts does not equate to victory there either. I'd never be proud of PvP skills in WoW because it's really not skill after a certain point.

I'd rate that more insightful than funny. I moved to Firefox primarily because of the enhanced ad blocking functionality. The extra security and those juicy extensions was just icing on the cake.

If I'm looking for free shit, what makes them think I want to see ads for shit I have to pay for? I wouldn't be blowing so much time on the internet downloading warez and porn site rips if I had money to blow.

  9. Re:Soylent Green on Biofuels Coming With a High Environmental Price? · · Score: 1

Demand destruction through perpetual war is also a good solution. Keep those impoverished third world countries as impoverished third world countries and they won't be able to compete on the market for the same fuel we require in the West. America however is pursuing the exact opposite policy of demand creation (outsourcing manufacturing will do this) and supply destruction (blowing up Iraq type places will do this). Bed made, lie.

  10. Culture fascism on Canadian Broadcasters Seek New Internet Regulation · · Score: 4, Insightful

As a Canadian, these kinds of stories are very disturbing. It's not so much that I'm worried about these laws actually passing as I'm worried about the socio-political ideology in which these ideas are born. On the one hand are profit driven enterprises trying to protect their markets, which is nothing new and quite expected. But on the other hand in the ministries is a virulent strain of "we have the right to decide how much of what Canadian viewers get to see in the name of protecting 'Canadian culture'." THEY WANT TO DECIDE WHAT MEDIA I HAVE ACCESS TO. This is just as reprehensible as the Catholic church burning pagan classical writings, without even the excuse that it's for a divine purpose.

Rip those fucking fascists. Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid!!!! Berzerker!!!

  15. There are benefits on Can Large Corporations Buy "Cool?" · · Score: 0

I don't know about the whole "buying cool" thing, but corporate investment in popular internet crap makes it more available to everyone in the end. The only difference I ever see is that I need to update my Adblock definitions. Not a bad tradeoff. And once the corporation runs the site into the ground I get to bitch and moan and find some other unexploited net niche. It takes all kinds.

Yes, Greece would get in there and help reduce the friction between Syria and Turkey. The only problem is that they'd risk getting Greece all over the place and causing a slippery situation in the region. Turkey can mitigate this possibility somewhat by carefully limiting how much Greece gets involved in the situation. In any case, Greece would certainly reduce the bloodshed.
