actually the media tends to favor obama. generally republicans are more reliable when actually going to the polls, and democrats less reliable.

whatever margins he may win by in the actual election won't be as wide as whatever margins he may be leading by now in the polls. come back to me next week & tell me i was right.

where are my mod points when i need them? NYTimes is biased. i knew this guy was an obama man when he suggested getting the policy proposals from the candidates' sites.

obama claims that mc cain is the tax raiser. mc cain for the first time in history is creating a tax on healthcare benefits. what he refuses to include is that an additional health care tax Credit overshadows that first tax, which creates a net tax CUT overall for the taxpayer. he is a liar, who apparently has enough money to get his message out. he is winning by tactical strategy, & just gold old fashioned money, not actual substance or philosophy.

i don't get where you can say 'the average CEO' has been raiding pension plans. i also don't get how you can say that most workers are being cheated of overtime pay, healthcare, and whatever 'the works' are. or that most companies are 'too greedy' to give it to them.

what about the NON-greedy companies? if they're being taxed, that's less money to give to employees for raises or other benefits. instead of me being able to give my own employees benefits, obama wants to take that money from me to give to people who not only don't work for me, some don't even work at all.

and this is 'making work pay' HOW??

also, how about just closing those loopholes you spoke of earlier, rather than trying to 'get something' out of the wealthy? and what about the wealthy who DON'T cheat? who don't exploit the loopholes? by raising taxes on them you're just punishing the righteous ones.

as far as 'paying up like the rest of us', the government makes more money off my father's business than he does. and obama wants to take even more. by your statements i have a very hard time believing you worked on anyone's taxes.

as an employer i know employees wouldn't expect any less from me if they paid any less in taxes, and i don't blame them for that. on the other hand, i also know that if i'm paying more taxes, they won't be getting those raises, as mr. obama's spreading the wealth i don't have, in this worst period in economic history since the depression, to other people who not only don't work for me, but may not even work at all.

Let your boss know the risk he is facing and then ask him if he really wants to risk being caught and shut down unexpectedly, or worse, finding someone has poisened his data.

It's just not good for business.

now that is an intelligent and pragmatic answer.

now one with any instinct toward self-preservation will see this is much better than the 'get it in writing', flat-out refusal, or any other threats or immature behavior rank with self-righteous indignation any other of the slashdot amateur lawyers have suggested.

here you are not only voicing your own personal concerns but you are also giving your employer more insight into the situation and making him aware of the potential risks. you are preserving your own sense of morals and at the same time helping him refine his own.

this is not only taking the high road in a sense but also showing your boss that you're on his side and looking out for him as well, rather than just being difficult. he will appreciate this.

acting as a 'whistleblower' will only get you on his shit list and cause him not to trust you. so while you're interviewing at other places you will not have his support or recommendations later on.

also, to truly be on both sides of the fence, one should try being an employer as well. not all businessmen are evil. not all programmers are ethical.

in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if half of those who are saying this man is unethical for 'stealing' the data might in another breath have no problems with downloading music illegally.

when you think about it, he may actually be more ethical, as, at least he's using some kind of loophole within the existing system rather than completely working to break something outright(like circumventing DRM.)

    i'm just sayin'.

it's got nothing to do with locking baggage. my brother and his friend are both in the US military. they graduated from west point. a west point class ring can run anywhere from $2k to 10k. his friend's ring was worth about $8k.

anyways as he was putting his carry-on luggage through the scanners & stepped through the metal detector, he put his cell phone and his ring into the plastic bowl they hold it in.

anyways the TSA guy took it. told him it was lost & played dumb. brother's buddy wasn't about to let an $8k ring go like that, so he filed a complaint & later on they ended up catching the guy on video, grabbing it.

they immediately went after the guy. they got the ring back. it was all jacked up. he was trying to remove the stone from it.

    good thing it was insured..

shit, it was a week before the guy actually graduated. had he actually graduated the TSA guy would have been accused of stealing from an officer in the military, which carries a MUCH steeper penalty than simply stealing from a soldier or a civilian.

anyways my point was that it wasn't in locked luggage nor something that you can blame the Bush administration or the consequences of the last 8 years upon. it could have happened and i'm sure it's happened years before to many other people, as long as there have been metal detectors in airports.

in fact, one could actually argue that the increased video surveillance was what actually caught the guy this time.
