    That it would be the Chinese that would get to crush these bastards. With the iTunes case in France and the now China taking a big dump on the international RIAA, they are soon going to be mooter than a lawyer in Judge Roy Bean's court... :) It seems the international community will not stand to have it's citizens dictated to by some corporate scum. This will be interesting, I can't wait to see this play out...

    for anyone who owns or has worked on oem machines, dell, hp, sony et. al. if you run keyfinder you realize that the key used in the installation is not the key on the side of the box... I like many techs you initially wipe the hard drive and install from an updated cd with the latest drives etc., and try to use the key on the side of the box, then you have a 30+ minute call/s to microsoft, where you are harangued "How many computers do you have this installed on?" If you have a dell based xp install cd (since sp1) you can install that version on any dell (i have seen a dell w/winme machine updated to xpsp2 in this manner) and not be asked for a key during the... they also pass wga.

    So, I guess it's like the war on drugs; it's not that you are using a pirated copy, it's WHO"S pirated copy you use...

    IANAL - but I have a client that used movie clips in presentations... used the same ones for 3yrs. (5 to 10min clips), then they got their letter from the mpaa wanting fines and requiring they purchase licenses. They paid the fines and removed the clips. They did not tell me what the licensing cost was, but they no longer use commercial movie clips.

    If you are in business and you are using it to get business, then pay up, don't be a dick.

    I have had a few interviews to test the hiring waters in my area, and they all ask "How do you handle an angry customer?" or a question about trying to work with someone you do not get along with... Apparently many companies have had issues where people they employ have "gone postal" on co-workers or clients. So a test to determine at which level you deploy your LFCB is totally acceptable, because they of course want to be first to deploy :)

The problem is the people who don't care about what is going on in elections outnumber those who do know the difference between candidate A and candidate B. When you can win votes by saying the other side is for "them gays gittin' married", that says it all. We live in scary times.

    We had to see this coming. Our elected officials will endeavor to fuck us as hard and fast as they can. The only thing that saves us is there are lawyers on BOTH sides. Until we all realize that they work for themselves and are on their own side, will we get anywhere on anything. Lawyers are the glazier that replaces windows by day, and sends his children out at night with sacks of rocks... or John Mcafee, who created a virus and then "Fixed" it for a profit.

    I have used Xandros since it came out,before actually, they bought Corel Linux. And has "out of the box" the best windows network integration. Even allows AD domain logins, not that other distros don't have this capability, just not straight out of the box.They also create a fake "C:\ Drive" environment so converting some people is easier.

    What they are doing is creating a server that supplies updates and management to the rest of Xandros boxen on the network, and groupware. Why shouldn't they? So far nobody has integrated this functionally proper even in the windows environment.

    I installed it on my wife's computer and my best friends,(both windows zealots), because they were constantly asking me to clean their computers. They would not use the tools they were given to work safely so... Linspire, and no more issues. I used wine to install IE for the wife because her job requires her to use IE only sites, other than that, it's all linux. they uses firefox at work, and the differences between OOO2 and ms office threw them at first but after a few, we do that this way...(kind of like going from office 95 too office 2k), they were both fine. Linspire pays it's mp3 tax and has a dvd player built into the distro so you have all the stuff they need. Plug in an HP multi-funct printer and scan, file, fax away . I don't use it because it is "behind", stable yes, but behind the bleeding/edge curve I like to stay on... :)

    winxp would run fine on that setup, however, winxp sp2 would not be able to. Of course it will boot, in time, and it will run but not at a speed anyone would be happy with. If you have MS office installed, then you will have an even slower experience. Then, if you have any of the MS "Security" software, such as the "anti"-spyware tool or the new "OneCare" it will even worse. Yes there are tweaks that can be made that will allow the machine to run better, but the average user does not have a clue as to how or what or where. So when they get their new machine, for vista and it has the minimum specs with a sticker, then what is going to happen?

    I have this problem with software I PAY for, and that is that if it has a function, filtering messages for instance, it should DO the filtering each and every time. Well I used outlook since it first appeared all the way through outlook xp/2002, and filtering worked ... somtimes, if 6 messages came in that were filterable, it would filter half of them. On top of that it eats more memory than any other email client, the only real reason to run Outlook is if your company is using Exchange, THE ONLY REASON.

    don't trust anyone elses "Secret Password" just put your own. the first thing i do on u/k/x/buntu is change the root password to my very own :)

    I remember a job i had, where i setup everything for the company and had all the passwords, (50 people yadda yadda), well they fired the guy who was my assistant and had all the passwords handed down to him, and he was not so friendly, he deleted all reference to them from his computer and the original encrypted file was on my computer that the new admin formatted >:) So they call me as they need the password for the isp access, "penis", the boss gets angry, "what the hell kind of password is that?", a pretty damn good one as you didn't guess it :) !!!!!!!
