I have no problems playing windows formats on my linux boxen, between mplayer and zine, I have access to everything.
I used to like Turbo, back around 3.6 etc. they had some nice utilities and it always worked. Now they have Sympathy For the Devil.
(cue the Rolling Stones)
"Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste... etc."
This is gonna be great, Lawyers vs. RIAA/MPAA, feces vs. feces, lumpy pustule vs seething carbuncle.
This will cause the EU feces to hit the rotary oscilator. Would it not be of the greatest irony, that Russia winds up being the place we regain our freedom from opression?
once I purchase and take posession of something, IT IS MINE, and I can do what I choose with it, (so long as I don't "distribute" my item). So Steve and his legal staff can go bugger off.
where do they get their numbers... I have been working closely with my isp and thy are seeing 80% to 90% of the email they get throught their mail server as know spam/spam-bounce traffic, this they round-file immediately, in the 10% left over, we the users still recieve spam, albeit not in the MASS QUANTITIES as before, eh Beldar.
The tenor of this "flame"-thread seems that providing similar apps to Linux users that the company with the original idea refuses to supply, is bad. Time to start bashing gnucash, or any of the db people. How about bashing Sun for creating Star/Open office or Mozilla for copying NCSA Mosaic.
Geez guys, Lindows is not for programmers and IT staff, it is for people who want to get away from M$ and it's strangle-hold on the home desktop. Most people can't afford the base model Mac, but, they can afford a $200 Lindows/Linspire box.
As for interface, aren't all opensource project works in progress, and getting updated all the time?
Where in the fuck do these people get their numbers?
On the other hand, M$ believes those numbers so, sshh, don't tell them that more people are using LOTDT than they can count, or are "comfortable" with. Linux users by and by aren't the kind to go advertising their actions, and actually talking to actual people. I will use my linux boxen and continue to go about my buxiness, nothing to see here people keep moving.
First off, a step for basic rights. the right to tell your buddy something and not have it come lashing back to haunt you.
Second, any company with computers that is not having their employess sign an internet use agreement (saying the computers and network and internet access belong to the company and you WILL be monitored on every aspect of use), is not going very far, and deserves the abuse they will get.
Any school or business these days has Use Agreements that make the law void in this case because the employee is agreeing to proper use as set by the employer.
Great artists like Mojo Nixon have abandoned the entire thing, he retired because of all the crap they force down the artists throat, the customers throat and anyone who get's in the way of the MACHINE.
Too bad we must lose our great artists, and have to keep Brittany and Kristina.
As Joseph Goebbels said, that if you repeat a lie often enough, people will end up believing it.
This is what SCrOtum's plan is, to keep the FUD spewing forth and just the politicians who keep getting elected, it is what the "people" know, because they keep hearing about it.
Marconi invented nothing, he borrowed from Tesla. Tesla is the reason we have computers, Tesla is the reason we have wireless, Tesla is god.:) History lesson over.
We have the best government money can buy, can I get a bid on... citizens property rights? And what do you bid for removing the bill of rights? It is very unsafe you know...
You have got to hand it to Gates+Balmer they made a great purchase, 600mil for the right to keep anyone from connecting to their software without paying a tax... good one. FSCKing bastardos. Now we know the EU can be bought off... guess we need to keep an eye on what the other hand is doing...
I was offered a "Linux" survey in January, and I took it, it was linux oriented but asked enough questions about web design/flash/etc. that I realized they were Macromedia, (they flat out asked near the end about wether using wine for dreamweaver would be good enough or would I only use an actual port of the product. I of course told them DW on linux only no wine with my dw please.)
It worked out for me, I got a gift cert for amazon from them...:) too bad it wasn't for the o'rielly store...
One of the secertaries or assistants clicks on that zip file... in my office, where I chose to go to open office instead of the next version of MS office, everyone elses docs and xls' got destroyed and had to be restored from a month old backup. While they stood around I kept on working... cuz my sxw and sxc files were still there. Yup that was expensive, cuz the IT guy had to come out, no one here knows how to restore from backup... I luv luddites.
Now, somewhere, there is a team-killing fucktard that went to Darl and said, "hey, these guys are using the ip we own... etc, etc". One day, all beings will turn on him Darl and his lawyers will eat him, if they haven't already. It is possible he has been evicerated, and Team-Darl is making money at this point so they don't really care, cuz the money is rolling in, not from licensing but through stock... when it all goes down, it will be a "We heeded his technical advice", him and the supposed MIT group that "found" all the heisted code. Hastur, Hastur, Hastur... ouch!

I'm thinking "Lindovvs", you don't hardly have to change the monograms... :)
How about a plain-text ad like:

Yup, M$ has owned significant stock in each company... :/

Hastur, Hastur, Hastur... ouch!
They liken securing their code to NASA's 10 years to get to the moon...
So that must mean it will take Open Sorcerors 20 to 30 years to make secure code because the Open Sorceror model is "ALL WRONG"...
Can I make you some sandwhiches?
