I've always been more concerned with performance like how well something actually works rather than how efficient it is. Yet somehow almost everything in my house has an energy star rating on it anyway despite that having never been in consideration.
Also CFLs are terrible just pay the extra $1 or $2 for LED and have something that works.
At work we have a att ADSL2+ modem with the software modified to disable the disconnection redirect and disable updates.
They really really want their modem to brag every time it loses connection which would be ok but they don't have no cache set so once the connection resets you have to close out of whatever your doing to get it to stop redirecting to the modem status page.
They issued a firmware update to the modem so you couldn't modify it but didn't add the no-cache option required to fix the problem that made people need to modify it in the first place and that's why updates are blocked.
Internet @ATT Hey your modem software sucks! here's how to fix it:*fix instructions here* ATT @internet no thanks we don't want our equipment to work *tears up fix instructions*
I seem to remember someone building a microwave tower relay system just to get lower latency for stock trading because microwave in air apparently travels slightly faster than light in glass.
Not making any excuses for CNN as that's inexcusable. But I highly recommend having all tabs muted by default. I use the mutetab extension with the Tab audio muting UI control enabled in chrome. The AutoMute extension also works well.
Having to unmute tabs is a minor annoyance for me compared to having things start playing in the background i'm not expecting.
As far as the prices go I still want to know why the local schools are still using bonded T1 lines instead of the local fiber ISP
Best I can figure the e-rate subsidy makes them really really cheap as you can get a 50/50 buisness class fiber connection in town here for $157 Sure that's not cheap but you can't get a single T1 line for that price anywhere.
Yeah AT&T tried to pull that on us after we upgraded to 12Mbps and we were only getting 8mbps. Turns out while they don't guarantee internet speeds if the modem won't even sync at the rated up to speeds they have to send someone out to fix it.
You can use soy sauce and stuff to season the chicken but that should be a relatively minor percentage.
It all depends often with the secondhand units the kinect was sold separately. So it was the choice between it and a few other games if you could afford it.
But no the Xbox one is probably still not a good example because of how often it needs a broadband connection and suprisingly enough that is still occasionally a problem in my area.
We had one returned last month because "they didn't know it required an Internet connection" so the entire platform is still limited to the more well off or at least more than it should be IMHO.
I thought it was rather funny especially the part where it was listing cyanide as one of the ingredients.
As for the kids shouting xbox off it's not often that the richer kids are at a disadvantage hardware wise so it's funny when having the latest and greatest backfires.
Like when they think they are hidden on the map because their computer is powerful enough to render grass.
More like they are being allowed the privilege to continue to not be sued out of existence but complying with these people usually only buys a little time then they sue you out of existence anyway.
I don't see how this is going to help coverage significantly more than band 12 has and that's not even fully rolled out yet.
Spotty coverage is what keeps me from using it here the LTE speeds have been great anywhere I could get a LTE signal and while that's most places there are still enough places that are no service areas to be significant.
Note I don't have anything that will support t-mobile's band 12 yet but I'm talking about outdoors coverage where there should be little difference in coverage between their other bands
Got scared there for a second then I remembered we can't get gigabit here.
No I ment like do phones still say 3G in Europe? Or do they lie about the actual standard like they do in the US?
What does it say on phones elsewhere?
Uhmm the obama phones have way better than dailup internet speeds.
Imho The best part of the movie was this scene with finland https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Who'da thought everyone else would have enough money to run secret space programs with weaponised space stations and no one noticed.

Maybe this is an example of DIMSS?

Verizon has the best coverage here.
Att is very close in coverage and is faster in town.
T-mobile has great speeds nearly everywhere you can get a signal but there are still too many places that I can't.
Sprint suprisingly has fairly good coverage here but their speeds are terrible everywhere 8Mbps tops.

No LSD involved but still something you might be interested in.

This is also why voice ordering will remain disabled.
Now if I could just find a way to disable one click ordering on the tv.

I'll look into it more later.

I remember seeing the option in firefox a while back but I don't remember ever using it.
Anything interesting there?
Yes it can they will still be able to tell you are using a VPN and how much data your using but not the content.
Then you just have to trust your VPNs ISP more than your own ISP.
Nope not even near water.
Have they ever considered putting their yacht in a pond?
