Is it legally possibly for RedHat to support that, given MySQL's goofy and confusing licensing restrictions? I'm guessing no... if you paid for your MySQL license (and the restrictions *are* confusing as hell, but it sounds like this would be a use that requires a license), then RedHat might be able to support the MySQL plug-in for PostFix, but RedHat has no way of knowing whether you paid it or not.

In short, I'd use PostGRE SQL or SQLite or some version of SQL that is actually 100% free and legal to use in all circumstances, and I'd blame MySQL themselves for this particular problem.

Some differences groupware products (Lotus Domino/Notes, MS Exchange/Outlook, whatever the hell Novell has) have:

    1) Keep your calendar in the same application as your email, since (in my case at least) a majority of your corporate email is either meeting invitations, confirmations, cancellations, etc. Since the email and calendar is integrated, your calendar will automatically update when a meeting is cancelled, moved to a different room, or has a different chairperson. This is handy.

    2) Keep an updated address book of everyone who works in the company, including phone and office location.

    3) Provides other features handy in the office. An Out Of Office feature, for instance, that can automatically redirect your email to your assistant while you're on vacation.

I find it somewhat surprising that you've never worked somewhere with groupware.

The only reason the PS3 uses Linux is that Sony doesn't want to license the Windows kernel for it and... there aren't a lot of other options. The other embedded OSes are generally too wimpy to run enough infrastructure to support internet-capable games with all the fixings.

Also, if they licensed a Windows kernel for it, there's a slim-but-non-zero chance that Microsoft might make the Xbox 360 compatible with Sony videogames, and that would kill of the PS3 in weeks if it happened.

My old 802.11b router busted, so I tried a Netgear one-- it had crappy range and crashed under load. I tried a Linksys one-- it broke my network connections every half hour or so (fine for web browsing, but no good for playing games.) Finally, I gave up, replaced it with a new Microsoft model, and I've been happy as a clam with it ever since. The thing just works.

Also, I've actually played both Xbox and Xbox 360, and they're both fine machines. Xbox had problems with CD drives that wore out too quickly, but no more so than Sony's first run of PS2s, and MS nipped it in the bud pretty quick. The Xbox 360 is still a little too new to judge the built quality on, but so far mine's been great. I've had one freeze while playing Oblivion, but no other problems.

    3) Microsoft VOIP is running all the time, through "Microsoft servers" (since that's so important to you) even during load screens.

In the meantime, there's a community out there (and no I won't link to it) who will provide .avis of the unreleased episodes to all comers, even though it's illegal. When Rhine releases an official DVD of that particular episode, the download site erases it.

That said, the creators of MST3K have said multiple times that copying doesn't really bother them... I believe the message "keep trading the tapes" or something similar appeared in the credits of a ton of episodes... the real problem is that the rights for the movies they make fun of were (generally) bought for only a limited period of time, making DVD releases and re-runs of the show legally troublesome.

Of course one of the player's machines is hosting the game; but that doesn't address the grandparent's point in any way... the Xbox Live quality control mechanisms still apply regardless of who's hosting. You can complain about an asshole player as easily in Halo 2 as you can in Crimson Skies, or any other Xbox Live game.

Now, Halo 2 does have a problem with assholes pulling the cord as their team is losing and causing the game to spend 30 seconds finding a new host, but there's not a lot Microsoft can do about that. And you can always report the cord-puller with the feedback system.
