I'm replying to your comment from windows 7, running on my eee901. It runs just fine in my "custom environment", I dread to think how it'll run on a sub 1.6ghz cpu with even cheaper onboard graphics.
If I'd bought a new lexus I'd want the company to spam me with 1UZ v8 noises. It'd make me think I'd bought a car with balls. If I wanted a car to be driven in I'd buy something else.
The maximum cost that any company is allowed to charge you for retrieving data kept about you is a whopping £10.00. If they do not acknowledge your requests within 21 days and fulfil them within about 40, the DPA enforcers can slap them with a hefty fine.
Retrieving footage from CCTV is supposedly quite expensive, but they can't pass the full charge on to you, and are required by law to fullfill your demands. I'm surprised about that 25% figure - it should be 100%.
Why are so many people posting comments similar to yours? You pay because they are SMALL, up until now most tiny/small laptops have been hideously expensive, and then along came the olpc program, classmate, eeepc etc, offering a fairly low price for a very small portable machine. You can get a desktop replacement laptop, sure, but that's not the intended purpose of these machines, stop freakin' comparing them to larger laptops! Auuugh!
Heh, I agree completely with your sentiment. Half of us don't need spoon feeding, and the half that do are easily sorted by those in the know. I wish they'd take the kid gloves off, we're not kids.
As an all-weather rider in England, I'd just like to say this statement isn't necessarily true. Sure it's nicer to be in the warm and dry when it starts sleeting or hailing, but riding is most certainly possible in that weather. I'm still young enough to recover from it within twenty minutes or so afterwards. If the bike's a CB250 the insurance would be dirt cheap too, if you're over 25 years old.
Y'mean Panasonic Toughbook, surely? Those things are oh so very purty, and from what I hear quite good for pushing down stairs instead of slinkies and old people.
After dropping mine once, very occasionally my w580i thinks I'm holding the button down when I'm not, meaning every couple of steps I take shuffles the track. As you can probably imagine, this is just what I want!
It seems a little daft though as their usage isn't very widespread yet; shaking your phone around in public is guaranteed to get a couple of odd looks thrown your way.
On your basis, that's $450. What about Hidden costs? Anti-Virus, anti-spyware? How much did these cost? And no, when you compare costs the fact that Apple is or is not more secure doesn't matter, fact *IS* that an apple can live without anti-virus and anti-spyware software. Now, let's add the $50/year you need for security. That's 5 years, so $250 more. Aye, because all protection/anti-malware software for windows costs $50 a year.
What's wrong with shooting heroin naked in your own home with a transvestite prostitute? And who cares where s/he came from? And 13 year old wives is a little effed up in my opinion but they're a year off being legal in Canada (iirc) and if they well and truly want it then that's up to them, not the government. Don't even think about bringing religion to the table either, not everyone believes in that.
I was taught (yes, this year too) to apply brakes to slow down, dip the clutch when getting too slow for the gearing, and then block change down to 1st or 2nd when at a roundabout, lights, or just a really sharp junction.
Engine braking alone while dropping two gears would be a bit daft really, like performing a half emergency stop to slow down a bit. Surely anyone that's been driving for a while would have the sense to drive smoothly? Jerking around gets you hit.
(Disclaimer: I've been driving cars long enough to pass the test, but riding motorcycles for nearly 4 years now.)
Just because you're smart doesn't mean you'll enjoy the taste of the stuff:P
I personally can't touch it anymore, and I'm not as dumb as a fair few people, though you'd never know. Beer and sambuca for me, and if I had a geekfridge that chucked me bottles of the stuff all the better!
Pretty sure I posted a similar link to the same product a week or so back, I'm surprised it's still news.. must be that good, eh?
I personally quite like fireworks, and I'm far from being a child, though maybe a simpleton. Shiny colours and loud noises are brilliant, quit killing your inner child;D
I don't know Lik-Sang too well myself, but this might go a little way towards replacing them - http://www.play-asia.com/
They've still got some Dreamcast stuff, heh.. 3
No particular order (is there any need?;P)
Stepmania or SMOnline. 'tis catchy!;D
Quake 3 TDM or DM with loads of bots.
GTA San Andreas - Riding round, blowing stuff up, quite easy to waste half hour here.
OpenTTD
Need for Speed U2 - Yeah, unrealistic racing game, it's still easy to kill an hour or so with..

Why didn't Asus call it the Eeeboard? I should be some kind of marketing pro with ideas like this. I'm a goddamn genius!
I'm on Be Unlimited and I get the page just fine.

Of course if you can only ride it half the year

And a Mustang GT500 in I Am Legend too.
Maybe I'm just a little bitter 'cause I'm not a fan of the new Mustang, but it's appearance didn't seem necessary in the film at all.
I'm seeing a few ways that this kit could be put to good use, hm? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0
I take it you've read today's XKCD then? ;D

I saw them just fine, 50% brightness and ~75% contrast on my lcd. It's bright enough, but not particularly pretty :P

For example, the rather expensive AVG Free - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
Avast's Free service (requires signup, also free) - http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
Agnitum's Free Outpost firewall - http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpostfree/index
Comodo's Free firewall - http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/license_re
and for anti malware there's the good old Spybot, Adaware, HijackThis, I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. 5 years of protection from those doesn't quite add up to $250.. and I'd argue they're more useful than Norton/McAfee etc, especially for the price.
You can always just go to print.html on any of the Tom's Hardware articles, just add it to the end of the url on the first page.s _250_gb_hdds_to_notebooks_uk/print.html

I misread that as "Hi, I'm Congress!" and did a double take. Congress? Progress? That can't be right..
