god forbid if we mention that a DVD is region free, that will demisih the power to change the world and show that MPAA arn't a bunch of bastards ALL the time. --
The reason that they do this is most of the satsellites repeat 2meter radion. Alone, 2m doesn't have very good range. But bounce that baby off a satellite and I can talk to europe, only for a few mins, but it's enough to make contact and have a small conversation.
And for somebody with a tech no-code license, to beable to say that I talked to europe on my little hand held ham radio with 5watts, that's quite a cool thing to do.
Once you're in a place I think it would be hard for them to let you go just because you don't have a degree and the guy next to you does.
Plus, we're talking about tech jobs here. Even if you do have a degree, after 3 years it's totally out of date anyway. --
I have everything while using Linux that I had whilst using Windows
Wow, not bad.. How'd you get access to Exchange, plus beable to play all those great Windows games that don't have linux ports?
Not to sound like an ass but if you can get Linux running fine, I'm sure you could have installed Windows the right way and not have it crash all the time. --
I looked at the screenshots and it looks like the blur would be more annoying then anything else.
Also, wouldn't it screw with your aim in Quake? I would turn it off personally.
It uses Kernel 2.2.12 and RH 6.1. Both are old, and both are known to be buggy. Sure they have a beta version for 2.2.17, but still, most production places arn't going to want to use beta stuff, or a buggy kernel.
Changes: This release adds a lot of driver updates, Darwin/MAC OS X support, an update for Mesa 3.4, a Radeon driver, DRI updates, and a "render" extension which provides Porter/Duff image composition (i.e, anti-aliases text and geometric objects).
Does this mean it will run Mac OS X programs? because if so, then that would kick ass!
This is why you should check your logs.. Don't just let the RBL do it's thing blindly, check you logs to make sure it's just blocking spam and not legit traffic.
I just checked my logs and the only things rejected from the rbl was stuff that was real spam. (all from a computer company I wouldn't do business with).
As long as people check their logs and make sure they point out possible mistakes then it should be fine. It has to go both ways. --
Well I just download the windows version and I must say I didn't like it.
I'll stick to doing the layout in Frontpage and then fixing up the code by hand.
All the laptops at the company I work for run Win2k. So did the laptops for the engineers at my last job. I also run Linux on the laptop I have here (have to boot it with a floppy because Win2k "protects" the mbr).
I think the market for Win2k on a laptop is fairly good. I don't know about Linux, but I do know a fair number of people that run linux on their laptop.
As far as for tech jobs I see it as a waste. I went for one year, did kinda bad. But with technology changing so fast the stuff you learn will be old and usless by the time you get to apply it outside of school
Do they not allow VPN or Proxy Servers? I don't see how they can do either? VPN traffic is just as legit as any other, and I don't see how they can detect proxy servers.
This is comparing apples and oranges. Palm devices were not made to play mp3s. They are PDA, not pocket entertainment center. I prefer my Handspring Visor, the batteries last for over a month, I can plug in a springboard module if I need extra functionallity.
Why not? They already ported IE5 to Solaris, it's easy enough to get that to work on Linux, and I for one would love IE5 for linux, with Netscape crashing and being the slow bitch that it is.
The problem is that the taxes get voted in, and then you're screwed. It's almost impossible to get the damn thing removed. I'm glad I'm in NH, we have no sales tax (the property taxes suck a bit, but on well) It works out kind of well for us, since people come from other states (like MA) and buy thing right accross the boarder. But some things you can't do that. In fact a friend of mine found out that if me moves to MA that he has to pay sales tax on a car that he got here in NH over 2 years ago! I thought there was suppose to be free trade accross state lines! Oh well, like I said, I'm glad I live in NH (probably won't be when I own property and have to pay high taxes on that) One of I think two states that doesn't have a seatbelt law, helmet law for motorcycles, and one of a few states that doesn't require auto insurance. Live Free Or Die!
The point that he's trying to make is that you can't agree to the license untill after you buy the program and bring it home. And if you don't like the license most stores won't take open software back so your screwed. Point being, it's not right to have to buy a program that you can't see the licence to.
Well, that's the slashdot mentality anyway.

Hell, you can buy MacOS X now, so that shouldn't be called vaporware either.

That's totally not true, I've had a 95, 98, and ME on a machine with no floopy drive and never had an issue.

There has to be something that oversees what's going on, the FCC might not be the best, but it's the best we got right now
And remeber, it was the FCC that wanted to grant the licenses, and congress that shot them down.

When I went and got mine they just handed it to me and didn't ask me or tell me ANYTHING
