    Sorry, there is literally no way for Apple to build into a phone or an OS a way to unlock it for situations like this that won't also be vulnerable to governments and hackers.

    Nope. Apple already has a way to unlock the phone. That is why the father is asking. And, the government already has a way to unlock phones.

    Anything Apple could have done, could have also been done by the FBI hiring another company and by obtaining Apple's source code through a subpoena. Getting Apple to do the work is just simpler and faster.

    The IRS can outsource collections to a 3rd party and this 3rd party will make such phones calls.

    You need to modernize your land line service. Such a feature is available on most land lines.

    Pagers can be much smaller than a cell phone and have a much longer battery life.

    This is a much better solution than having to give all the contacts another number to try you at if your phone's dead.

    I set up my pager to receive a copy of my important emails. No additional contact information required.

    I have a special email address I only use to communicate with friends and family. I have spam filtering turned off. I have not received a single spam email in the several years I have used this email address.
