I'll second that. When outside doing shit like that, the F word flies free. It's a man-right. When I worked at UPS EVERYONE cursed. Even the supervisors would curse. None of us were offended by it...they're just WORDS for fuck's sake.:p
We just got our and it was godsend for everyone. We all desperately wanted tabs (I have Firefox portable, but still) so this was pretty nice. It is definitely a LOT better than 6.:p
I'm surprised no one mentioned this but um...you can just reinstall the driver before you reboot after installing a new kernel. The symbolic links should be changed pretty much immediately and after that is done, the installer throws the modules where they're supposed to be for the new stuff. I've been doing this forever. I mean don't get me wrong, it's silly that it has to be done and most nubs are going to "OMG WTF" when their PC reboots with no nvidia driver, but at least the damn driver is there, right? Anyway, not sure why no one has mentioned this yet. I've been doing that for Gentoo since the dawn of existence and I still do it in Arch just in case. You don't need to boot into "No X mode" or whatever if you know what you're doing, unless your distro is somehow completely retarded.
You realize that doesn't really help inside the city though where most people drive, right? The roads are there between all the buildings and shit you CAN'T drive over.:p
The next step will not be VoIP over wires, but rather it will be some sort of wireless radio communication mechanism.
Yes, I can just imagine it now...some sort of wireless communication...what could it possibly be? Hold on a sec, I'm getting a text, I'll be right back with you.:p
You know, for this being a nerd site, a lot of you guys sure seem to go into the future kicking and screaming don't you? There is no LIMIT to the amount of shit you'll complain about. It's a new version. They're not PUSHING it on anyone...it's just there. That's what new cards have. It isn't detrimental to your performance and you can still play in DX9 if the higher version gives you shit fits.
Some things are worth complaining about. Not EVERYTHING is a conspiracy by some rich bastard forcing some product down our throats. Maybe the benefits ARE incremental, but who the hell is buying a new card JUST for DirectX 11? Seriously, what kind of moron is doing that? If I buy a new card, it's for an overall performance game, not for some arbitrary new version of Direct X or whatever. That's just an added benefit.
Honestly? This is ridiculous. No, the MAIN changes are not themes. That's just apparently all you've noticed. I'm sure you're just being coy, but give me a break. Microsoft is imperfect enough on its own without people spreading complete nonsense. Give them credit when they earn it, for crying out loud.
I hate Fox News too, but as a government official, I'd tend to think that its his job to let everyone in. He's right in that they're not news, they're asshats, and all of that, but when he starts denying press coverage to them, that's a line I'm drawing in the sand. Calling them names and not inviting them to press conferences are, in my mind, very different things and that is a place no one wants to go.
I want to agree on a personal level with you, because I hate that channel, but honestly its just wrong and I think you know it at least a little.
Unfortunately, XMarks only does bookmarks and passwords. I've really come to enjoy the history and address bar things it does too. Didn't realize what I was missing before I got Weave.:)
I was going to say that too. I also really hope Google comes up with their own version of Weave. Of course, the idealist in me also kind of hopes I can actually use Weave in Chrome so that all my stuff is synced up because that, my friend, would be AWESOME.
Yeah, I'd have to agree. I generally shy away from websites that directly ask me for a username and password for another site. I don't care who you are, but after all the phishing emails and such we've seen over the years, you'd have to be pretty dense to not feel at least a little uncomfortable with something like this.
Payflow Pro. I'm thinking the same thing. Maybe they're actually pointing more towards using a Paypal ID without leaving the site or something...I dunno, but I do know my company is one of the processors for Paypal and that they've had functionality like that for quite some time.
Are you really that big of a shill? You know as well as I do that this is the very definition of a monopoly. Yes, making people agree not to sell competing products a contractual obligation to get volume license pricing is IN FACT a dirty business tactic. At one point, yes, they simply had kick ass software, but regardless of the quality of their software, those business practices are a bunch of unfair horseshit.
Seriously, I don't say this often to people personally here, but you're a fucking idiot.
Is it just me or have other people been noticing posts inappropriately modded as funny? I don't really see why anyone would mod this post funny...he isn't really trying to be funny and he isn't ironically funny either.
Hi there Captain Obvious. You mean you don't want to buy something that will have no discernible benefit for you? What the heck was the point of even posting that other than to bitch about...well what are you even whining about?
Seriously...what the hell are you talking about? Drivers "frequently" don't work? Exactly where are you deciding this from? Your 10 year old equipment? I've installed Windows 7 on 3 different computers of mine without any issue. Hell, to my great surprised the default video drivers were actually supplied BY ATI for my media center. I looked for shits and giggles expecting it to be a Microsoft one, but it wasn't.
As for it running like crap...again I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm running this thing on my netbook of all places and I have to say, I was honestly amazed at how well it runs. I really mean it...it actually runs as well as if not better in some respects than XP did and that's WITH all the cool eyecandy. I'm no MS shill (I run Arch Linux on my desktop for everything but games and I also installed Arch on the netbook along side Win 7), but I am actually pretty impressed. On the netbook, Windows 7 actually feels more responsive than my Arch install with KDE 4.3.
I will however completely concede the point that it's way overpriced and still needs antivirus and all that shit. Really though, I haven't had problems with viruses and malware myself...I honestly don't know where people pick this shit up.
This is what I've been thinking the whole time I've been reading replies. Is the submitter so dense that he actually went to the COMPANY'S website for reviews? Really? I've known not to do that since...well forever. It's pretty much assumed the company is going to tell you their product shits gold and cures AIDS. You should expect this by now and you should expect the same sort of BS from a "review site" from them as well.
I saw that eh on the end. Nice try Canuck!
You win (1) internet. I was hoping someone would not miss that opportunity. :p

Is it sad that I read that and tried to delete the word before and figure out what the hell you were trying to say?

Isn't that what the betas are for? >_>

I'll say it this way...typing in slashdot and then hitting ctrl enter is infinitely easier than actually typing out the .org part at the end.

Look, I like Linux too, but nothing could possibly be further from the truth. I'm kind of hoping that was sarcasm but you never know around here.

There is no conceivable way that shipping and handling should EVER cost 17 dollars for a DVD. No way. It should cost a dollar or 2. Tops.
Is Dolphin retarded too? I'm looking at my Windows 7 "winsxs" folder in KDE's Dolphin and it says it's 5.5 GB.
