I would have downloaded GIMP and donated to the open source project, but I never even knew it existed because microsoft put paint.exe in my Accessories menu. Oh the humanity!
I just don't get it. How can mozilla, a non-profit organization sue someone claiming they have a monopoly? They are basically asking for free money. They are not meant to make money but they are suing a company because that company does something that limits the amount of money they can make? I just don't get it.
yes the benchmarks do suck, they should add the following benchmarks to event it out a bit.
1. How long it takes to load GTA IV.
2. How long it takes to load MS Word.
3. How long it takes to compile a large project with MS Visual Studio 2005.
Seriously, and if it takes more that 1 GB of my 500 GB hard drive then there's something wrong.
Why don't they benchmark some more important timings like how long it takes to shutdown, how long it takes to paste text in an email and how long it takes to run a disk defrag.
I think there's probably a big difference between making a rocket which can reach escape velocity and being able to target a specific location thousands of miles away.
You have a point, but just THINK of all the new high-res video of car accidents we will get to see on FOX! They could have a new weekly series of iPhone car crash videos.
that's something I've been thinking about, the costs/hazards of wind power, at least environmentally. I don't think solar will be a problem, but if there was a massive implementation of wind farms, what kind of impact would that have on the environment. The wind doesn't just pass through unmodified, it causes decreases in the wind speed, which may possibly cause issues, but I don't really know, just something I was thinking about.
That's great that they may have a way to solve the issue of nuclear waste, but that doesn't solve the main problem which is that you average person is afraid the power plant will blow up and destroy everything around it for hundreds of miles.
Well, let's face it, it's not like it was 10 years ago where every 8 months you could buy a PC that was practically double the speed of your current PC. I mean how long have we been sitting at the same speeds?
The last thing that I want is to be in a union with all of these stupid morons that I work with. They couldn't code themselves out of a wet paper bag. I end up doing all of their work for them, please don't make me unionize with them so that I will be paid the same as them. They don't deserve the wages they make already. Unions may fit in a job that monkeys can do, such as assembling cars, but it doesn't fit in a job where you are required to think and reason.

What they need is Windows 7 Solitaire edition which only runs Solitaire, this would probably satisfy a good 75% of users.
yes, congrats kde4, now all you have to do is reliably and legally run all software that runs on windows and I'll buy it.
You can tag this flamebait or troll, but as soon as those 3 items at least match the speed they are in windows, I will switch to ubuntu in a second.

How do we know these magnetic tornadoes won't grow and destroy our trailer parks?????

I think this would be a no-brainer for the nobel prize if they can really make something equivalent to a magnetic monopole.
even if that were true... erase my mortgage, take my house, I go buy one the same size for half the price now!
the only thing that matters to me... will it erase my mortgage??!??!
don't forget, the next headlines will be about SECRET CIA CELL PHONES THAT DON'T CLICK!
I only have two words for this: HA HA
I wonder if it will have built in software cracking tools.

and Edison jumps for joy in his grave
Do we really need to conserve a species that can kill us and obviously isn't needed in the food chain?
So are you saying I really don't need to worry about someone patenting my idea to use an enum in that traffic light program I wrote for intro to C++?
yea, if I'm going to waste my CPU cycles to donate to an online war, it will be something useful, like a war between Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.
yea, they need someone who has the hormones of a 13 year old girl to design their products!
