Until a non-beat version of IE9 becomes the defacto MS browser, then we'll hear people say....
"I will be so happy when IE8 finally eats flaming death"
As the MS software cycle continues and nobody learns from the previous round. Corporations are starting to become OS-Agnostic for their web apps. Those who have not done so eventually will follow suit.
It's a way to generate kickbacks from all of the future carpel-tunnel surgeries from the users who try to gesture instead of using a keyboard to enter text into this device.
I use DeployStudio for my mac rollouts. I had one of the Apple engineers from Apple Canada visit my site and he showed it to me. It was exactly what we were looking for. It runs over NFS on one of my Xserve servers. It is fantastic.
Brought to you by the same people that DRM'd your PC's video card(a 'la Vista).
It will be short lived because the market is already saturated with
dozens of different media players which are either more
user friendly, cheaper, have more supported media types, and are just
better designed products.... and then there is the ZUNE.
MS wants too much to compete in a market that they have already
failed in.
The sales of MS OFFICE can't sustain funding to a media player
whose primary feature is and HD FM tuner. Radio broadcasts are
their motivation here!
Anyone can go to any retailer, hardware store, or even a grocery
store and buy a portable $10 FM radio to listen to radio broadcasts.
HD FM isn't available everywhere, so it is targeted at a small
demographic.
After the MS fanboys have bought one new Zune each, the wave will be
over. The leader will still be Apple iPods, and the various cheap,
but versatile Sony and Sandisk MP3 players.
"Windows 7's barely out and you've forgotten Vista already!"
That's what MS is hoping for!
And the Windows Fanboys will have a new horse to beat on for a while. Should be
an entertaining holiday season with the follow up of returned Win7 PC's around
boxing day.
Put a hardware firewall in front of your Windows PC's and problem solved.
Win7 won't be bullet proof. MS still doesn't understand what the term "security"
actually means.
Changing things for the sake of changing things keeps their handful of investors
from selling off their shares, hense making Microsoft happy that they held onto
those shares.
The fact that there are users who must face the challenges of using Microsoft
Office in its various forms is inconsequential. It is all about the overvalued shares.
"It is good enough", is in fact good enough to keep them in business.
For the good of the computer industry, I hope that more people think in the same
manner that you do. Then this will show that the $10 jump in MS Stock price
was due to investors talking up Windows7's actual value. Time will tell all.
The $29 Snow-Leopard upgrade is more appealing, and reputable.
MS's day in the sun is waning. MS should step aside and let someone else
have the opportunity to take the people's money for the next decade or more.
There are always trade off's when buying cheap Win laptops at big box stores.
The cost benefit of Win based laptops is usually eaten up later on in the ownership of that laptop when you are paying someone to remove spyware and virii at $70-$100 per hour.
Pay now, or pay later.
It should be noted that the MB Pro's are not geared (marketed) at joe sixpack and his grandma. And Apple does not get worried or upset if you (joe sixpack) buys a Dell instead of a Mac. Their equipment sells itself to many who get the opportunity to try it out first. You may not be Apples target audience.
Why does the DELL promo video "Not Show" a full on video of the keyboard and screen? Likely because it is a nearly identical rip off of the macbook pro.
Other similarities, built from single solid piece of aluminum and glass screen.
Ship it with a better OS and maybe Dell can join Apple's premium laptop market. Otherwise forget about it.
And $2,000 USD for a Windows laptop..? Gimme a break. Dell products are cookie cutter designs with cheap power supplies and limping hard drives. (my own experience supporting Dells at work).
The browser wars are almost at that point already, you know, like when it became irrelevant just how fast your CPU was?
Most of the browsers are "good enough" for the average Joe, so bragging about the loading times for a particular set of web sites is falling upon deaf ears.
IE has always been a bug laiden, mish-mashed piece of software and it became popular only because it came as part of the windows operating system.
A lot of people use it at least once, to download a copy of their favourite browser, which then replaces use of IE on windows.
The smarter people don't use windows at all.
This competition is futile and well past its usefullness.
Microsoft has had the computer business to itself for decades now. And they have done very well. How else would they become such a giant behemoth(err monopoly).
It is only fair (and it is time) for the world to spread their remaining IT dollars elsewhere.
With Google apps being available for next to free, that should not hurt us as much as rebuying MS OFFICE every 1.5 years from Redmond.
Even though Bill is finally retiring from his position at Microsoft, he really isn't retiring from MS. Instead he has created a new position as the traveling spokesman working to protect his former employer.
He is obviously toiling in separate issues to ensure that his vast income stream continues to flow for decades to come.
First, Bill represents the money of the B&M Gates Foundation (originating from donations of the wealthy, ie: Warren Buffet, and various others) and NOT Bills own fortune.
The money is being used to buy drugs for the poor countries, however, those drugs are produced and sold by big pharma companies of which Bill G is a shareholder (millions of shares).
Curiously, the symptoms he is addressing with his drugs are similar to the symptoms caused by breathing "off-gases" originating from the nearby "oil refineries" that the B&M Gates Foundation holds shares in.
Another hidden income stream for Bill, and deception afoot.
He portrays good faith providing free drugs to Africa, with a subconscious side effect; Intellectual property protectionism.
The offshoot is to head off the next big interruption in his income stream, the Operating System called UBUNTU. Ubuntu is produced and supported from within Africa, and has the ability to interfere with the MS Windows income stream.
It is not looking too honest, or very pretty from where I sit.
And since nearly every household in North America has at least one Windows computer, we are all guilty of being an Accessory to Bill Gates' plan and actions.
Blame yourself, and take note what you have enabled Bill G to do. An example of greed (aka Mechanism of Capitalism) in motion.
Now turn around, face the CEO's of the Detroit3 and repeat what you just said.
There, problem solved. Do it now, before the other auto makers who build cars people actually like pull their factories out of your country as well.
Time for many people to learn a new trade... How about becoming a COOPER, or TIN SMITH.. We're going to need barrels and armor with the way things are going.

The gold diggers are circling.....
It translates into, "it's my right to be able to profit from someone else's product"...
AV Vendors please go back to the windows desktop PC where you came from.
Like at band camp!? (re: american pie2)
It will be restricted use only to devices which are licensed to
Squirt....

It works very well and can image the new machines very quickly, even
in times where only a 100mb connection is available.
I highly recommend it to you.
Cheers,

MS is probably pondering the ways to sell all of the exploits in XP/2K to the worlds hackers to ensure that everyone upgrades to Win7.

And he'll find a way to demand ridiculous payment from all of you while
he's at it.
Just another stab at charging for something that can't be done. But he
will convince you that you need it.
It's proof that nobody can avoid senility.

Pot meet Kettle.
MS should rethink their strategy since the Oracle->Sun buyout.
It's all downhill from here.
MS has a $16billion dollar mistake to sell to you.
You get what you pay for.

At least the guy will be well aware of the exploits in the
worlds most popular operating system, which is most often
attacked in security breaches.
Having a microsofty on the payroll ensures that your security
breaches will be well accepted.

Microsoft is demonstrating their future business model as
a PATENT TROLL.
It may turn out to be more profitable than for them, than actually making software!
Aren't the new H1-B's are arriving soon? The will possibly need skills training.
The 1,400 former-MS employees are the current beta testing program. (BTW, don't forget to send your severance checks back!)
Muwha ha ha ha
