Zelda is a strange exeption. Some how all the games all feel the same, and look the ame on the surface, yet are still somehow very different and compelling to play. (if any one can explain it I would be very impressed).
DOOM 3 and Quake 4 (though Q4 is a bit better in my mind) really just feel like rehashes of the same ol', same ol', just with much better graphics. Better things have been done in the FPS genre, and those 2 just have not caught up. Quake Wars looks like it will be the answer however (admitedly it isn't actualy beign developed by ID, I tihnk).
Stupid idiots that fall for the "wll, it is out of stock everywhere, so the best thing to do is give them a giftcard for the exact amount so they can come and pick it up when it is in stock"
You have online stores that are taking waiting lists for Wiis?
as I am a lazy sod (but patient) I would love to get on a wait list for a company that will sell me one when I get to the head of a list with no effort on my side. So, any chance of a link?
But I am not everyone (nor are you). Pleanty of people DO want the bleading edge of graphics and what not, and thus want a PS3 isntead of a Wii.
As I said, we are starting to see the PS3 fail in the USA (my prediction is that they need to get a few REALLY good games out for it soon or they are in trouble). However, I am not as sure about making these predicitons for the japanese market.
I am willing to say that the PS3 will probably dominate over the 360 in Japan(despite my thoguhts that the 360 is a much better system atm due to MANY more good games out for it). However I am thinking that the Wii has a good chance of ultimatly winning out over the PS3 there, thoguh it is all down to games, and more importantly exclusive titles. If Nintendo can get squeenix solidly on board, as they seem to be doing, I think they have a good shot at it.
Because Sony has not made as many PS3s as Nintendo has made Wiis. Rather simple isn't it? Are we surprised that the 360 is tanking? nope, because it doesn't apeal to the japanese market (and it does not have the fanbase that Nintendo and Sony have).
The real question is how will the number end up once sony gets production going at a decent speed?
Other peopel have pointed out (and after research I now have to agree) that the PS3 isn't selling in the USA (if any one wants ot buy a PS3, Circuit City has 60gig versions in stock). Yet is is still a chalange (though not impossible) to buy a Wii despite much higher production levels.
They win an award for a controller that many people love (the dual shock) and then promptly claim that it was for the sixaxis (something many people are disapointed with), only to be shot down, and thus look like idiots (again).
To much beer for me? When I read that all I thought of was a Doppelbock. And now I want another good lager.
I actualy am against govn't oversite into this, for the same reason I am against govn't oversite into movies (remember, the movie ratings are 3rd party, volountary, and not enforced by the govn't). The ESRB does a good job (generaly, the hot coffe stuff was still silly), and I hope that we don't end up with laws on this.
I have a PS-> USB adapter sittign at home (from when I worked at RS, the item is so devalued that they are nolonger in the inventory so my boss okayed me to take it). I need to go out and get a GH controller. (admitedly I also plan on buyign a PS2, so I might as well just pick up GH2 with the controller:P)
Thank you for reminding me that I am an idiot every so often.
well, apparently the new controller is currently wired (TFA says they want 0 latency, and don't have that in the wireless, yet), so there might even be a chance of some quick little hack up to get it working on the pc:D
Just set the "Anonymous Modifier" as -6 and you will likely never see another AC post.
Set it to -2 and browse at 0 and you will only see them if they get modded up decently and you browse at 0 (I assume you do, as you see his post, set it at -3 if you browse at -1).
My hope is that all the backers pull out untill we know who it was that put in the preassure.
I admit that I was defending the SlamDance people before, however my views are starting to waver (the biggest hit was from the blog post you linked to). It looks like they refuse to give any real reason, even to other sponsers, though it still could just them knowing that if they say "Well **** major contributor said they would walk if we didn't pull the game", that the exact same contributor WOULD walk for being publicly shamed. Kinda a bummer of a situation, admitedly it is probably their own fault for not sticking to their morals in the first place (unless the sponser(s) were responsible for enough of the $$ involved to make SlamDance fall apart right then and there).
I guess Apple has made a fairly secure system but they can't expect all third party developers to follow the same rigorous standards.
I see it now. This entire MOAB thing is just there to tout how great and secure Apple Products are, and that the only bugs possible HAVE to come from 3rd party software!
The device just does not look like it should work the way it does. Sure, the take off looks normal, put at the apex it looks like it should flip over and come down nose first!
I don't have any sound on this computer so I have a hard time telling, are they ussing some sortta propulssion in the entire flight (something to keep them stable?).
Yes, geeks and very high end users will be looking into all of this, however most people (aka most of the market) is still jsut looking at their desktop (or possibly a laptop) as the computer for the house. It is true, it is becoming more frequent for each person in a house to have a computer, but still, we are not looking as homse servers dealign with A/V, telephony, home automation or ANYTHING for a while yet in my books.
On a side note: the reason why is that there is not a cheap and easy soloution yet. You can buy a good soloution, but it costs a good chunk of change. Or you can roll your own, but that requires a decent amount of knowledge (hey, a modded XBox makes a great media center, but most people wouldn't know how to make a XBox gameport to USB adapter, or even that you could).
For the msot part you are right./.ers tend to lean in favor of libertarian views. However, we (like every one else) are hypocrits, and when something will come along and specificly bite us, we want some protection from it.
Now, there is an actual argument for legislation that is pro-net nutraity, and does not clash (that much with our libertarian ways).
Most (if not all) of the infrastructre that supports the internet (all those miles of copper and fiber), was heavily subsidized (if not outright payed for) by the govn't (and thus us), and then handed over to the Telecos, to do with as they see fit.
So no, it does not fit into the libertarian view point, however it is the most probable soloution (realy just a patch) to a bad situation.

right.
Who wants to predict howlong it will take for those old fashion 1080P sets to become outdated, and that you really must have one of tese new 2160p sets if you want to even THINK of keeping up with the jonses.
As a quick note. I am actualy finaly ditching the first, and only, TV I ever had (making it around 14 yrs old now I think), a 20" CRT that had some sorta funky colour burns on the sides... I am replacing it with: My boss' old 20" CRT that works!
And I am willing to bet will was sold with in the end of the day.
the ACs claiming that there are "lots" of non bundled PS3s just sitting on shelves are full of it. I know Frys was having a hard time moving PS3s, but they were bundeling them with like 5 crappy games.
the PS3 will continue to sell out for some time now, but again, that is in part due to low numbers.
Very true, and this is why I am VERY happy with the guys standing up for him.
This forces the issue, it shows SlamSance they have to have some morals, but more importantly it showes the BACKERS that they can't fug with the competition if they want it to be respected (why else do you think corporations back these things? they want the free advertising, but if you name is linked with a competition known to be pointelss?)
Apparently this is the first time a contestant has ever been pulled, and thus the situation has just never come up. My hope is that they will rectify the situation for future years, prefferably something along the lines of "All contestants and desisions are final baring gross breaches of law by contestants" (IANAL and they could say it better, but you get my idea).
I also hope they seak new financhial backing and dump the one(s) that threatened to walk. However I still can't really say that they are BAD people, they were in a hard situation (Stand up, take the bullet, and die. Or run away to live and fight another day).
The peopel that COULD stand up with out fearing serious reprocussion (the other contestants) did, and for that I admire them, especialy the 2 (so far) that have withdrawn from the competition (especialy the maker of Flow, as he already has recognition, and can use it to create a media stir about it).
Zelda is a strange exeption. Some how all the games all feel the same, and look the ame on the surface, yet are still somehow very different and compelling to play. (if any one can explain it I would be very impressed).

God I hated workign in retail
How is this offtopic?
Anyway, care to share a link with some more info?
They keep on harkening it to D/DII and Guild Wars.
both games that are specificly "buy once, play online for free" because they ARE instanced.....
I will withhold judgment untill some actual solid news is out.

Never before have I grumbled about editors, even Zonk, but still.

yah, but they fugged it again is the point.

True, however the interestign part is that the most popular ones, going by what I (a non mac user) have heard about, are those that are there.
Exactly!
I remember seeing ALOT of those features on MacRumours, and I don't even look at the site (just lots of links to them and people talkign about it).
The one that realyl stuck in my head was the widescreen video iPod with a touch based controll (dubed the "iPod Video" instead of "iPod With Video")
yah, it was "secret" but every one knew everything about it.
Admitdely I have to wonder if this is Art Inspiring reality. Do the Mac Devs check through MacRumors regularly to see what people want?
That hits the nail on the head.
