No mention of the PS3 WT drums on RB compatibility issue? We have to make some noise if Rock Band is going to release the path Guitar Hero says is needed.
I've interned at Microsoft three times and currently work at Google just down the street from Microsoft.
It's called competition. Both companies are successful and do things differently. THIS IS GOOD. It means Software Engineers have choice about how they want to work, and aren't pigeon holed into a single paradigm. Google won't work for everyone, I've had to make adjustments myself, but Microsoft doesn't work for everyone either.
Agree, I'm not sure about the article reviewer, but amazon didn't have either of the new albums for Josh Ritter or Iron & Wine, so it's a crappy selection for me
I think a big step towards the adoption of such a technology would be to keep the paper so that someone would actually want to use a particular sheet again. If the pieces are going to be as easily creased, ripped or crumpled then I doubt people will want to use someone's already man handled sheet of paper.
You're gut has an opinion. In the current election it's more of a for or against the ruling party, so vote based on that.
If you don't like things, then vote Democrat. Yea the two party system sucks, but you aren't going to get ride of the Republicans unless everyone against them votes for the Democrates. The entire voting system needs overhalling for the two party system to fall.
If you do like how things are going, then vote Republican to keep them around.
This actually happened to me. I had iTunes 6 loaded, plugged in my brand new video ipod and it told me I had to update to iTunes 7. I reluctantly download and start installing iTunes 7 when my virus software kicks in! I killed the download, tried redownloading iTunes but the apple site was down. After finding a md5 for the installer and verifying it, I try to reinstall from the original download and no problem. So from my point of view it was some sort of randnom virus. I'll definetely be reporting my encounter.
I completely agree. I really only pirate music anymore to see if it's worth spending money on, and even that I don't do much because I find the downfalls of pirating to not really be worth it ( difficulty to find, risk of viruses, etc ). iTunes 30s snippits really isn't enough.
NPR had something similar to this this week. They interviewed the guy that came up with the first spam filtering software ( i forget his name ). His point concerning this is that the language used in most literature is not the same as that used in regular emails, so the theory should still hold up fine. That and Bolchevism is a popular spam word.
My being-a-tivo-owner understanding of their current tracking is that they can track something specifically if they know about it. For instance on some tv show promos it'll pop up a little "hit thumbs up to record" message, but only on a small few of them. The same goes for a small number of commercials, "Press thumbs up for a special deal from BowFlex". So if they know about something specifically they can track it, like the superbowl half time. So I'm guessing they don't have all this info such that they could do it, until now.
you hit an interesting area. I find myself buying more 'risky' music with itunes pricing, so you could say that I maybe have a music budget, and itunes allows me to purchase music from more artists giving more people money, and maybe in the future giving them even more. However, with the same budget I could buy cd's of artists that I really like giving them more money in the end, and the 'artists' more in the end.
So from my usage pattern, I would still be supporting my favorite bands, but not discovering so many new ones, at least not legally.
I still support the burn a copy and mail the artist $10 method.
I'm really glad to see this. caledar/email support is by far the nicest feature in Outlook, but the main issue is that enough people had to use outlook in some sort of networked fashion to make it really work. Gmail is much more pervasive in usage outside of the corporate world and has the network setup since it's webmail. I really hope they get the usability of this right.
So are these deaths statistically significant, or could I also claim that it wasn't the game but the simple fact of owning a gaming device? It seems that it's more a case of a few but fairly well publicized deaths. I mean I'm sure there are people who have died do to eating oranges, should we write articles about the horrors of oranges then?
I had this discussion a while back and referenced a unofficial legal interpretation of the law, though I can't find it right now. I'll repost if I do.
As it stands, the legality is questionable ( there is no official ruling ), which is probably a safe bet it is not legal, but I doubt anyone's going to come banging on your door, especially since the IP records are stored in Russia:) The gist though is that it's only legal in RUSSIA the website even says as much and it's up to you in your country to determine whether it is legal to use their site.
But again, aside from the legality, the artist isn't getting a penny gauranteed, and your financing a foreign company to rip off an artist you like. Just pirate the song otherwise and save your money. Arguements concerning the RIAA are in other various threads.
Also, my point is that this is no "better" than piracy, so don't try and deny it isn't. They are simply organizing it so your pirated music is decent quality. If you're going to use it at least realize the artist is getting 0 from it. Argue this is the same as the RIAA and that's fine, I'm not saying you should buy their music either. Though there is something to be said for artists eventually making money under the RIAA's system, but that's another arguement for another day.
Personally I'm sticking to less popular artists on non Big4 labels, their music is better anyway.
In a way it isn't, so save your money and get the song someother way. Or pirate it and send the artist $10 directly through the mail. Just don't pretend this isn't piracy.
It is ILLEGAL to use allofmp3.com from the United States, it is probably illegal from most other countries as well. As it is it's only specifically LEGAL in Russia, they just have a loop hole that allows them to put the burden of illegally using their site on the customer.
Regaurdless of this. Think about it. You aren't helping anyone by using this service aside from the guys in russia. The artist will NEVER see ANY of the MONEY you give them.
It's not about screwing, it's about what a paritcular person thinks is the best solution when applied to everyone. Not all people wanting higher taxes are poor, I doubt there's many of them actually.
Actually it's the reverse. MA taxes everything, TX has some exemptions. This is actually common of states that don't have a state tax, though usually their overall sales tax rate is high.
TX's sales tax rate, after state, local, regional, whatever, additional rates are still pretty low given that. I paid more in MA which has a state tax.

It's already done by Zillow for the most part, so maybe they don't see a need to also do it right now.
Just a tidbit, 23AndMe was created by Anne Wojcicki, who is Sergey Brin's wife

You have just descibed Data Mining.

Piggly Wiggly has been doing this for at least a year from what I know.

But how would they know it was for their music if it was just $10 all on it's own in an envelope? We can beat these system!

Mind doing a quick review of them? I'm very interested in a wireless speaker system for my apt though info seems to be much lacking?
