Depends on the definition of IT and how it affects the particular company. Think of a mom-and-pop hardware store that keeps the books (real, live books) in a steno pad with a pen. To me, that't IT and that is very important to that particular firm. To me, IT is a state of business and support of a business, not just a rack of flashing lights and long acronyms. The author should really rethink his piece before narrowing his focus.
The key is to be HEALTHY. Did I mention you have to be HEALTHY?
The USA's obsession with weight as a number is a tad disturbing. I run. A lot. I know people who would be considered obese by a BMI calculator, and a 'fat ass' by society. Yet they can run a 5K faster than most skinny people I know.
Sure, you can eat all you want and keep it under a caloric total for the day....but was it GOOD for you? Did you consider the cholesterol or sodium counts? Trans fats? Are you keeping on top of your vitamin intake? Are you exercising?
Before you cut carbs and count calories, sit down and write out a goal, and integrate EXERCISE into the solution. As little as 10 miles a week running + a DECENT diet will yield great results. Not only will you look better, you will also FEEL better.
It's a perception. Like I said, I know obese people who feel great because they run, and I also know miserable skinny people who do nothing to promote self-health.
From Klez and other email based worms that defaulting to the preview pane in Outlook is potentially dangerous? Seems like a pretty simple thing to do, it would save a lot of IT support's time, and maybe even put a tick in the smart bin for Microsoft.
But of course, that would make too much sense, right?:)
I dual boot, so nothing really. I only boot into XP when I have coursework to complete...VB, or the constraint of having to use JBuilder for Java projects. I also use Office just for convieience and courtesy. The last thing I want to do when I give a large presentation is explain to a classroom of management majors why MS is evil:)
Since I have a PS2, games aren't really an issue, and the rest of my work/dabbling are done in FreeBSD!

I have used this software on my LT1 Camaro with excellent results. This software allows you to pretty much hack every aspect that the PCM controls easily.
I'll be watching my collection of classic Akira Kurosawa films: Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, High and Low...and yes, The Magnificent Seven. While technically not a Kurosawa film, it is based on the Seven Samurai story, and come on, who can resist Charles Bronson and Yul Brenner kicking Mexican ass?
I'm a CIS major, and last semester, with the summer approaching, I dreaded finding yet another cubefarm job working in IT.
So I got a job at summer camp..and it was one of the best experiences of my entire life. I learned to appreciate computers and IT, made a difference in kid's lives, and learned VB in and out, since I worked with it everyday. The best part is that I wasn't chained to a computer, I had other responsibilities as well, so I got the perfect dosage of sun, water, and code. Since I've returned home, I've felt energized, I've been doing much better in school, and am easily finding the motivation to start new projects.
My point is that you don't have to fully detach from CS to recharge. Think a little differently, explore seemingly outrageous options, because when you see a kid get excited because of something you taught him, you'll be hooked again.
Dude,
:-)
Have you _played_ GT4? Why would you even ask?
Yes, I know it's just one day of the year, but...
/. eds take the day off. :)
take one innovative company...
make up "crazy" stories that seem plausible...
Enough with the Google AF stories!!!

Is a blooper reel really an easter egg? In a presentation this large (the trilogy on DVD) this is typically a menu item.
:)
And while we're on the subject, I'm gonna just put a DVD in my drive and allow a website to run some code. No thanks
This would be great if it could interface with XM or Sirius satellite radio, plain and simple.

Weight loss is not always HEALTHY.

I know a lot of sites don't like the use of WGET to 'acess web resources'...so what makes this screen scraping technology any different?

Why not unplug your box from the network while building? After that it should be OK, seeing as how 'generated binaries are fine.'??
:)
Or am I thinking far too simply for my own good again?
